Dmae Her pads were beginning to bleed, having been scratched raw by the sharp rocks on the bank. She felt feeble, like she was going to blow away at any moment. She had been running for miles since she could remember, but now she was taking a slight break. Her heart was pounding as fast as a hummingbirds, a rhythmatic sound that calmed her senses. She was almost starving, having not eaten for several days. Her stomach rumbled every once in a while, a good sign that she still had time left to eat and survive this famine. She had a sense of urgency, and she needed to get away from it. It. The thought made her shudder, yet she wasn't cold.
"Hopefully I am as far away from it as I can get."
Her lupine senses were kicking in. She could hear the quiet babble of the brook as it coursed its way down toward the hidden pack, the pack that she might be joining in a few hours. Rainbow trout were swimming in groups toward the rushing water. She licks her chops, and quickly jabs her mouth into the water. She lifts her muzzle, a flopping aquatic animal in her mouth. She swallows it down, feeling a rush of satisfaction course through her mind. She had been starving for a long time, and having finally taken her time to hunt, that feeling disappeared. Well, for the time being, anyway.
She couldn't help feeling like an outcast. Yes, she could smell the wolves down stream, their scents flooding her senses, almost knocking her down with the various smells. And yes, she was nervous about confronting these wolves. Would she be accepted? Would they like her? Hate her? These questions run through her head as she takes quiet steps toward the sounds of their voices. The waterfall was dulling their vocals, but she could still tell that they were talking.
"Well, here I go."
Her footsteps start to rush toward the group of lupines. They still couldn't see her, and she was wondering if they could smell her. She could tell that there were a few faes, and a brute out in the open. Reluctantly, she steps toward them, hesitant and unfamiliar. Her muzzle produces a weak smile, something of curiousity and comfort, but her mind was so far away. Her smile slowly disappears with concern. They weren't going to hurt a defenseless fae, would they? I mean, after all, I never even touched any of them. Am I coming on too strong? She asks herself, her brow furrowed with thought.
"Hello, my name is Dmae."
She says in a small voice, almost droned out by the sounds of the crushing waterfalls beside her. She couldn't read the other wolfs' expressions. Maybe it was a mixture of curiousity, and shock. Maybe it was hatred. Whatever it was, it made her nervous. The scariest part of this for her was that she had never joined a strange wolf pack before, so this was going to be a first. None of these wolves appeared to be the alpha, which scared her the most. She was going to have to talk to the alpha or the alphess, if there were alphas in this pack.
"If you don't mind me asking, are there alphas?"
Her tone becomes more confident as her facial expressions soften. She was starting to relax, having finally started getting used to these wolves, although she still hadn't heard one speak yet. Maybe all this time was slow, and that it seemed like it was going fast through her mind. She did feel fleeting, but she had to stand, poised and relaxed. Something about these wolfs' gazes made her feel unconfortable. Unvoluntarily, she unfolds her wings, her owl-like wings, almost like a protection, though she knew that it wouldn't help her cause. She then spots Zephyr, clearly the alpha of this pack. She leaves her wings up, arched over her body.
"Excuse my words."
She bows in respect to the brute, her wings following her arch in a graceful manner. She felt color tinting her cheeks, feeling embarrassed about her last comment on the fact that no alphas were there, but apparently, there was an alpha there. She touches her nose to the ground, and holds the pose. She then raises her head, her nose covered in the brown dust. She licks it off, and spits the muddy saliva from her mouth.

Keith's nose twitched as the familiar yet thoroughly unwelcome scent of her alpha, Zephyr, greeted it. She stepped back slightly, curving her body behind her mate as though attempting to make her form invisible among havens fur however with a slight huff she realized how futile this truly was. As Zephyr stepped forward Keith gave him a simple nod before stepping back entirely and walking swiftly from the growing group.
Her burning red fur now seemed more obvious than ever, she deeply respected the alpha zephyr but since her arriving there had been many... Confrontations... That now made her feel rather unwelcome on his lands. However kind he was she knew any more pushing could end up with her being driven away from her home... And furthermore her mate.
She turned several feet away and seated herself comfortably to watch from the distance. Curling her two tails around her form and dropping her gaze slightly to avoid all eye-contact with Zephyr
Keith hated the way shoe moved now, the way she skittered at his kind gesture, it was as though she forgot who was the trespasser here. She sighed but knew all to well why she now behaved the way she did. If it where the other way around Keith knew she would have acted in much the same manner. But the fact was their positions where not in reverse so. Keith was annoyed. Right up until the scent of another wafted over her.
She tried to pin it to one of the wolves of this pack, nay, her pack. She must remember this, there will be a time when she will have to fight for this wolves. Besides these wolves. And of all the wolves she had the pleasure of scenting this newcomer was not one of them. Another trespasser.
"Haven" she whispered so low she could hardly hear it herself. It was a futile warning and no sooner had she realized that the wolf showed its face. Keith cringed away as the wolf unfurled its wings, she hated wings. The feeling grew darker each morning, as though there was something amiss with all who bore them. Or maybe amiss with her...
"Dmae" Keith mocked from her safe distance, her silence broken. she was growing shy with the large group of beasts and with it growing ruder than normal. "What is this, you smell newborn so fangs descend?" she lay her ears flat against her dome. Her voided eyes narrowing with discomfort. She turned her head to Zephyr now with her charcoal fangs peeking from beneath her cage. She wanted slightly to be told to leave. Before she opened her yap again and said something unforgivable.
But as usual her mate changed this thought abruptly. She suddenly felt even more threatened by the new Fae. The massive wolf would have been her first sight and by the gods this was not her right. Almost leaping to her feet Keith stepped up to her mates side, her head high. "Tell me... Dmae" she cooed viciously. "Did you follow the scent of the fish-wolf? Or is it newborn blood you are after."
(OOC: Lol sorry if she seems a bit harsh. Im sure she will calm down, she doesn't like big groups xD. Plus lack of muse is horrid so mi bad. Hope i didn't keep you waiting too long! ;D)

Dmae Her eyes flicker self-consciously to Keith, a hidden scowl behind her shadowed eyes. Violence was not needed here, would not make her appear like a decent wolf, would not help her attain the respect from these wolves. She felt violated, like this wolf knew, like she knew everything, and her harsh words were prying at her deepest secrets. She would never get out, would she? Her past was always following in her wake, and it never let her go, never left, just made her suffer continuously. She could see now that here it would be no different.
She tries to ignore the fae's words, as words fumble through her head, thinking about something to say in return, a respectful reply to the rude comments that had been spoken to her the few moments ago. "Yes, my name is Dmae. It is a silly name, but I love it all the same." She ignored the other comments, the ones about the newborns. She wouldn't come here to kill, just to decend and kill, then leave. Her past was her past, and she had chosen long ago that she wouldn't try to remember. Her pup-hood was a pained time for her.
She lifts her head, noticing that Keith and Haven were mates. The fae tended to stay near him, but she turned her eyes away, avoiding the smirk, the glare, the flashing fangs. Her eyes averted to the alpha of this pack, hoping for safety, the safety at eluded her for so long. She bites her tongue, and sits, her owl-like wings arching behind her in a graceful slide across her back, then moving into place on her flank. She could tell that Keith didn't like wings. She hated her wings as well, they were alien to her. She didn't want enemies, so she sits down, quiet and waiting to be talked to, or at least acknowledged by someone, anyone in front of her.

~Z . E . P . H . Y . R ~ Zephyr frowned, his confusion a little more than evident. Why was she so adamant about not seeing a healer? He understood secrets, but some things like this were just ridiculous. He would not have a wolf suffering and in pain on his lands, not whilst he was alive and he was Alpha. He had already called Masina, if she was busy and could not come – that was that. But if she came then the fae would be healed, protests or no.
Then again there was always Snippet. His heart warmed a little at the thought of the young wolf, who at first had seemed so shy and nervous around all. She had certainly thrived in this community, and her powers had grown all the stronger. She would certainly come when called, and she would not take no for an answer with this wolf.
“Come along” He said forcefully, a small sigh following his words “You'll at least want some rest or shelter from the cold winds” He indicated the falls behind him with one of his golden wings, the feathers arching out as if to touch the spray of water that cascaded down from the falls not too far from him.
However, there were other matters to attend to at this moment, and he could wait a few minutes to help the injured fae to her feet. There was the appearance of the second loner to deal with, and the sting that came with Keith's words could not be ignored in Zephyr's doubting heart. Was it a truthful accusation? Or was Keith simply looking to make trouble? She must have known or even formed an idea of what it must be like to evoke the wrath of a protective father. If she did then she was treading on thin ice at the mere suggestion that the newcomer would even dare to harm his pups.
Fluffing his chest out – he was not a large wolf, but he could be quite a brute when he needed to be – he studied the other female intently. She did not seem hostile, yet appearances could not always be trusted. Eventually, his expression softened; not a sign of weakness, only of hesitance to speak.
“Now now Keith, let us not start with hostilities by throwing accusations around” He gave the charcoal scented wolf a warning gaze, yet that ember of doubt remained. Quelling it with fierce attention to the waterfall, he turned to the newcomer.
“Apology not needed. I was tending to another and therefore not within your direct line of sight. I am Zephyr, Alpha of these lands, do you seek shelter for the night? Or acceptance into this pack?” His voice was kind, he had tried hard to keep the edge out of it, his mouth snapping shut a little harder than he intended to. He had cut his third question off by biting his tongue; is it true that you first scented my pups? He was not known for his suspicious nature, he was known for his kindness. Every wolf deserved a second chance, and Keith of all people should know what.

Dmae She feels a slight whisp leave her lips in a hushed sigh. Zephyr seemed calm, and that calmed her senses also, but she kept her eyes away from Keith, afraid of the apparent scowl that she would attain. She noticed an edge to the alpha's voice, and then realized why Keith mentioned pups. The alpha has a family, and they are afraid that I will kill them. She feels air leave her lungs like a buck had just rammed into her. She could feel tears coming, but she hid them the best that she could, her eyes slightly red. "M...my name is Dmae, great alpha. To answer your question, I would be more than honored to join your pack, if you would allow me to do so. At least to let me stay with you for a few days, and then you can figure out if you even want me here." She bites her tongue, rethinking about her carefully chosen words. Her last sentence sounded affending, like she was accusing of unfairness here, and she starts to stutter. "I... I didn't mean to..."
Her dignity was slipping from her now, she could feel herself being drained, from fear, exhaustion, and from being threatened. She could kill them all at any moment, but what would that do? And what if they had similar abilities to what she had? Then what? She would die as well, and she didn't like violence. She just wanted to take flight, far away from this forbidding place, but she wanted a home after her encounter at home, and her past pack. Yes, she did kill pups, it was her curse, the kind of curse that came back after a month or two. She could control it if she really tried, but in the end, her inpulse would kick in, and she would kill. It was always on accident, but no one ever believed her. There was a demon in her angelic soul, somewhere, always thirsting for more blood. She hated herself, and she hadn't killed a pup for at least a month. If she were to join this pack, she would have to stay away from the pups, as far as she could, and eat as much as she can. Zephyr, more than likely, loved his pups, and she didn't want to damage a beautiful family, unlike what she had.
She dips her head, her eyes shadowed, her happiness being crushed. A wolf already disliked her, and now they were afraid of her killing the pups that clearly belonged to the alpha. Even if she did join this pack, she would always feel like an outcast after the feeling that they were all protecting eachother from harm. Maybe this was a mistake that she hadn't realized. Of course they would have figured out after a while, but they had figured her out at the first moment that they had laid eyes on her, and now she was clearly doomed. She could feel her body shaking as her body starts to form into a different object, into a wingless wolf that was identical to her, but without wings. Maybe Keith would lay off for now, that she didn't have wings, that her wingless figure would change what wolves thought of her, but she knew that it wouldn't matter. She would have to change back in a day, but she would have time that evening, alone, and moping like she knew that she would be, no matter where she was.Word Count: 611 Mood: Discouraged OOC: Okay, well, I went and posted. ;D

Shoe remained silent as the words were exchanged from wolf to wolf to wolf. Not so much from lack of interest but due to the sudden heat that was now present on the field. She heard Keith’s words and felt the sting in her wound. It was painfully harsh as an accusation and she doubted this newcomer was capable of such things. The Alpha was also being a bit to easy to change opinion but then if he had a family she sorta understood. She never really felt maternal but she’d wanted to protect her favourite toy before…
Still it was just how Keith behaved normally from what she could tell of her meeting the wolf and this reassured her that this wolf wasn’t discriminative, juts mean to anyone. The thought made her smile but it was hidden by her fringe, for this she was thankful, now wasn’t the time to be caught grinning. It was only when the Alpha stepped forwards. His presence here was great and she almost fell back with the authority he held. She had only just been in it’s firing line so to witness another go through the same thing was a whole new experience and almost as chilling.
As his words passed those lips she stared up at him before her gaze fell to the wolf now uttering words of her own. Dmae. She sounded afraid, Shoe didn’t blame her, she had been. It wasn’t fair that the Alpha should be able to walk all over this loner like he was. She was in need of kindness and if it was so, Shoe would offer it if none others would. After all. She knew what a guilty past meant and so she’d protect those who sought innocence.
She was on her pads, pain clear with every micro inch she moved but she walked anyway and stopped jut short of the Alpha and Dame. She was on the side of their staring match and her cool gaze fell from one to the other and back again. It now rested, boring into the Alpha. Shoe felt the need to protect and like I said before, this was unusual but she went with it. This fae felt like a pup to Shoe now, so belittled and young, her body began to shake. Shoe was easily twice her age and so she fought for her.
“Alpha Zephyr. We have all known unfortunate pasts but they aren’t what define us, it as who we are in our present and future. We smell blood and accuse malice. How is that fair. Is there no sense of innocent until proven guilty? I may be out of my place to say this, and I really don’t mean disrespect to ya Sir, but I think we should let her speak for herself.
Sorry. I won’t talk out of place again.”
She stood, her tail raised, curved round her belly covering her scars. She wished she could hide it better but it was no good. She sighed and bowed her head low and hoped she’d not lost any chance of finding a home. But also her mind was on other matters. Why had she done that. It felt like instinct but made no sense, she’d never wanted to care for others in That kinda way. She does care for others don’t get me wrong but this, she was like a mom. And that was just weird.
Bleh! Shoe felt comically old.

Keith had been watching with her dangerous gaze as the group continued to chatter and scowl. She wanted more than anything to leave and let the threesome talk among themselves but havens warmth kept her standing beside him, tails thrashing like an angry cat and eyes narrowed as they glanced from Shoe to Dmae. It was only when Dmae next spoke that keith abruptly calmed. She hadn't realised how sensitive this wolf must be. What could have happened that was so bad it made her feel guilt for something she hadn't even done and why would she assume that Zephyr would not want her here? Keith was about to step out of place again, and she knew it.
"Zephyr" she said creeping closer, her muzzle close to his ear as she hissed her thoughts into it. "They both look tired, regardless of whats going down here they need to be tended to and rest. I'm sure we can figure out why they are here later." she turned her head away to peer intently at the newcomers yet again. She had more mood swings than a pregnant fae!
It was with another mood swing that keith let out a surprised humph, Dmae had shifted form while her head was turned and now stood practically weeping. What trick was this? playing with Innocence? This disgusted her but she understood how she must feel. Zephyr and the pack had welcomed her with kindness, not suspicion and hatred. What kind of pack where they becoming? Was lucids influence already upon them?
"I don't care why your here but regardless, you are. So instead of bleeding into our drinking water shoe shuffle your shell and Dmae grit through the pain a moment longer. Once we get you to shelter and a healer im sure you will feel much better." but she added lowly so no one could hear... "And we might see which is the hungriest for puppy's..."

Dmae An evil wolf in a loving pack, And at her grave, a lesson learned, Will anyone even have her back, For the wolf that pups' blood is yearned? [/center] Dmae sighs, and shifts back into her original form, her wings re-appearing on her sides in a swift motion. Her white eyes become blue again as she shakes her head from dizziness. Keith seemed softer in tone, but she could feel the tenseness surrounding her, and she didn't feel very liked. But this fae, this "Shoe" stood up for her, and she would have to thank as soon as she could. She felt grateful that at least one fae cared, and maybe more in time. Maybe my being here isn't a mistake.... maybe it is meant to be. Anything is possible, if I only stay away from his pups. I... no, that is preposterous. I wouldn't actually kill them, would I? She can feel a bead of sweat appear on her forhead, so she quickly lifts her paw and wipes it off.
Dmae nods to Zephyr in a quick motion, and peers down at her paws, the scraped up pads were sore to walk on. Maybe the healer had something that would help. "Thank you, I appreciate your kindness." She says in a hushed voice. She was becoming petrified with the thought of her actually killing the alpha's pups. No, she wouldn't do it on purpose, and she couldn't. They would be on her like flies, and she would surely be killed. She didn't want to die here, and to die soon. She wanted to live a long, healthy life, but how was it going to be possible if she longed for pups' blood every month? It wouldn't be, and as a result, this would be her grave. Now she didn't know if this was a mistake, because she would surely fall into her longing. Unless she could fight it away, and maybe it would go away completely?Word count: 320 Mood: Scared Ooc: Sorry about such a short post. XP

~ Z . E . P . H . Y . R ~ As he watched the fae – so Dmae was her name then - visibly crumple before him, Zephyr's narrowed eyes gradually widened in shock and surprise. Mainly at himself. Watching this cowed wolf, he felt disgusted. How could he have changed so much, to distrust one who clearly needed help, to be just as bad as those that turned her away, when she was clearly in need of help? He glanced at Shoe, also regarding him with fear and awe, and had to swallow to stop bile from rising in his throat. He disgusted himself.
How quickly had he changed? Was it gradual, from the taking of the plains to the birth of his pups? Or had he suddenly been riled by Keith's words, so ready to protect his own little ones from suffering that he ignored the suffering of those around him? True, he had been stressed recently, what with Puru's growth spurt and the little ones and Cinder's illness creeping up on him all of a sudden, but that was no reason for him to take it out on others. They were known for their kindness. Of course Lucidity would only take the best and the ruthless for his pack of vargs, and Kerrigan was one Alpha you couldn't lie to, demanding the truth and respect at the same time. He had not met the Alphess of Toko, so he did not know what she was like but a few rumours drifted across that she was kind, yet wary. He and Cinder were known to take in all.
Keith was proof of that. Why would a wolf so born out of fire that even her very scent was of crisp ashes and burning embers, want to live with a waterfall pack? They had accepted her without question, even with her sharp tongue and her lack of willingness to sleep with the others, preferring her own company besides that of Haven's. So why the distrust now? These two injured faes, one in body, both in mind, came to this land seeking salvation, was he so low as to turn them away now?
He steeled himself, drawing in his feelings of self-loathing, of how bad he felt for the fear produced in these two fae's, and lifted his muzzle to meet Dmae's eyes. But she was looking at the ground. His eyes shone with unshod tears, and he swallowed a lump that seemed to stick to his throat. Curling his right wing around, he dipped it so that the very last few, tiny feathers lay beneath Dmae's lowered chin. With his wing, he gently brought his wing up, pushing her muzzle up to meet his eyes.
“I request respect. Not submission” He blinked, using the silence to prevent himself from crying.
“I am terribly sorry.” He said, with genuine feeling, his honey orbs staring into her own azure ones. “You have nothing to fear here. We will not ask of your past, if it is painful, or even if it is joyful. All slates are wiped clean at the Waterfalls, and I was wrong to jump to conclusions simply because another fae had suggested it. You have nothing to fear here. Neither of you” This last he said to both of them, letting his wing fall from Dmae's muzzle and breaking eye contact with her. Cinder would have been horrified at his distrustful behaviour too. And his children? What would they think? His son? His little girls? They would turn their heads, ashamed of their father. And rightfully so.
He nodded vaguely at Keith's whispered advice, though he listened to every word. Now he smiled, a warm, pleasant smile that forced his feelings about himself aside, bringing out his joy that there were two new faes wanting to join the pack. But that Shoe did need tending to. He concentrated on that now. He turned slightly, folding his wings so that they all had room.
“Come now! Let me show you the den area and you can rest and pick a den for yourselves. But Shoe...” He said, glancing back at her “I'll need to get Snippet to have a look at you, whatever your reason for hiding your injury, we will not judge, but it needs to be tended to. Ok?” He asked her acceptance, even though he would get Snippet to look at it after a while. He didn't want to frighten her too much after what had just happened.
