Synopsis Of Thread: A new loner, Kiana appears on the lands, chasing a rabbit. She is stopped by Kerrigan, but manages to sly away using the arrival of the young fae Lucia and her avian companion Sini. The unlikely duo find a comfort in the Marshlands and Kerrigan shows them the den area. Lucia takes to Kerrigan immediately, however Sini appears to be more hesitant. Little do they know that the Alphess Chevara is breathing her last breaths. |
Kiana walked silently through the marshlands, her paws treaded softly on the ground. Kia's fur rustled as she brushed up against a bush, sniffing and then onward she went off again. Her blue spotted pelt sprung out noticeably in the night, not a very good camouflage, but she hadn't been noticed yet. Kia crouched down slowly as she heard a rustle from just in front of her nose. Crinkling it up, Kia moved forward and spotted a brown pelt, she made a dive for it rapidly extending her front paws out to catch it.

Kia had heard the wolf splashing it's way towards her before she'd seen him. Cursing Kia flicked her ears in annoyance, he'd made her prey run from the spot. "Names Kia" She said in huff trying to catch onto the scent of another rabbit or fox or something, she was starving! She sniffed up a storm, sending water droplets in all directions trying to locate the smell of rabbit. Her crystal blue eyes swayed back and forth amongst the quivering marsh water. She finally sat down hastily on her rump. Her tail swished into a puddle, soaking it. Kia looked at her tail and swished her ears, immediately the water flew from her tail, swirled around her nose and dropped to the ground. Kiana finally realized what she'd gotten herself into.
"I-I-I'm sorry I didn't mean to trespass I'm just starving and-and-and." She said stuttering severely. Kia sat up turned around and bumped into a tree before getting her step right and running with elegance and speed, setting off towards the border.

he barked, blinking after her retreating form. He didn't know the exact rules of this pack but he knew they needed members. With a surge of rippling muscle he was sprinting after her, paws more at home in the marshy land. A bird fluttered up from his right and he ignored it to shout out. "Get yer stealin' arse back 'ere, wench! I'm no' gonna eat ye," he barked, speeding up, not paying any attention to the cold water splashing his pelt.[/ul][/blockquote]

Lucy yawned, stretching her paws out as she lay on her side. Grass tickled her legs, and she barked with laughter, her tail wagging and swishing the ground back. Her pup-like nature held strong and true, just like the months ago when she truly was only a pup. She hadn't grown up too much, but she had grown more than her friend had expected, at least in size.
"Hey, Sini?" Asked the brightly colored wolf who stood out even in the green background. She had grown out of calling Sini 'My Sini' and only did so when she was being overly loving or protective. The bright bluebird sat near her, her eyes shining at her friend with worry and fear. It was nearly her birthday- even though the blind pup didn't know that.
Can't you speak in your MIND? You're going to draw other wolves here, and they'll EAT us. She listened to Sini scold her and fell silent, standing up and scanning the area with her senses. She nearly prodded Sini's sight, but she knew her friend would only get mad at her if she did. Yawning, she nodded. If Sini wished for her to speak in her mind, she could do that. She padded along, flicking her tail to tell Sini to follow her. The bird didn't like her doing such invasive things... She frowned. She missed seeing, even if it was only a few seconds.
She shook her head though, as Sini let out a cry of alarm- something was approaching. A wolf, running out from some pack territory... Which... Sini's fear turned to rawr anger- Lucia was right inside the Nigori Marshlands! Only a few paces away was the boarder- and her flying bluebird insisted that she get out of there- some other wolf was chasing the fleeing one... In what looked like from Sini's point of view, her being chased out. Lucy's ears were keener than her friends, though, and she heard the words the male was barking from so far away. She smiled, sitting down on the ground wet ground that didn't bother her in the slightest, and waited with her eyes facing in the direction she had heard the barking. Pawsteps were sounding clearer, echoing off the fur in her ears.
Curious, curious! Sini, do you think we can join this pack? They seem like fun from here. Lucy waved her tail slowly, letting it sway from one flank to the other as she listened to the drumming of their paws. She whole-heartedly believed they were playing, and only wondered two things- if she could be in the pack, and if she could play with them. Sini seemed displeased by those thoughts, and only passed a thought that was more like a snort than anything else. Lucy's attention was draw to the question of whether a bird could make such a sound, because she believed that would be impossible.
Riiii-ting. A pleasant sound touched her ears, and she looked up to the source. Sini was shapechanging. If she could have seen it, it would look as if the bird was being coated in a silver-blue sheen before taking a shapeless form. It grew out to another shape in a moment, turning her to a much larger bird- this time it was a grand, bold eagle with an odd speck under her wing, blue in color, but otherwise, just an eagle. The bird dove down near her, Lucy felt the push of air when Sini landed by her side, staring boldly at the wolves who nearly were there.
"Hey there!" Called Lucia to the wolves, the fleeing and the chasing, her bark high pitched and child-like. Her blue eyes held no emotion, though if they had they would have been clear with excitement- the rest of her body seemed to give it away, what with her tail lashing rapidly this way and that.

He was gaining on her, feeling his hot breath on her tail. She flicked it to her side, not wanting him to try and grasp it in his mouth. Suddenly she swerved around and melded her body with the shadows. Kiana thanked the sky that she had the darkness power of shadow stepping. Her blue unseeable eyes flicked in search of the male wolf. Hell no was she going to get herself turned bellyside up and bitten by that brawny wolf. Swishing her black and blue tail back and forth she backed up and turned around. Making herself see-able again she ran speedily towards the border.
He sure as hell wasn't going to eat her but he would send her limbs flying in all directions once he'd gotten a hold of her. That's what she thought anyways. She started to breath heavily, and sighing she'd finally gotten to the border. All she had to do was put a paw over the unseeable line and she'd be away from the black and lime green lightning etched wolf. Her slender body sat down for a minute, trying to catch her breath and wait for her heart beat to return to normal.
That wolf was something, his lime green lightning marks were pretty neat she had to admit. Other then that she didn't like him at all. As vice versa he probably didn't like her either, but that's the way she wanted it to stay. Un-seen, un-heard, un-noticed. That was what she'd come to learn how she was supposed to act as a loner. Her deep blue gaze searched for the wolf as did her nose, but she didn't see or smell him, yet. Smiling to herself, she thought she'd just catch a rabbit somewhere else. Alas she heard a rustle in the bushes, sending her pouncing with no idea what it was smelled like or even looked like.

. His mind hissed it and he scowled, large paws slipping under cool water as he paced through the shallow marsh water. His tail flicked up as his back paws lifted almost comically high to left out of the water before slipping under again as he searched for her. Damn powers. The wind help him. Picking up, her scent hit his nose and he leaped forward as she broke away and became visible again. Then she was over the border and he was cursing, fangs glinting. Doesn't anyone ask before entering a territory!?" he snarled, turning around to walk back to camp to spent another boring night. "Hey there!"The high pitched voice had him jumping lightly, markings crackling and his fur standing on end in surprise. it flattened and her turned towards the border again. "Well, someone does actually," he murmured quietly to himself as he moved toward the excited voice. His large harks pricked forward and he smiled slightly at the direction. He hesitated a second at the sight of the bird, jowls rolling back at it. Kerrigan didn't trust raptors. They ate pups. He ignored it the, setting his lime eyes on the fae. She was a sight. Lime Green matching his crackling markings made her unusually and made the young femme stand out.
He shook his head at her coloring, her excitement, and her companion. How strange. Then again, he should be used to strange here. His Alphess had three tails. He cleared his throat to make sure he wouldn't growl at her. "Greetings, young one," he answered, lowering his head a bit to even up their heights. Her eyes were blank and he shifted his gaze to her muzzle. "Ye called?" he teased lightly, blinking. He was so going to be nice this time. No reason to take out his problems on every loner that spoke up.[/blockquote][/ul]

"Sini," the green wolf replied after a rather long pause, the bird's eyes narrowing sharply as she rose a wing as if to show she was speaking- although that probably came off rather confusing to the male. The young female blinked sheepishly, and dipped her head. "I mean. Sini," she nodded to the bird. "Her. She's Sini. My name is Lucia. You can call me Lucy, most wolves do. Erm, those that know my name."
If, perhaps, she had no bright green fur, and perhaps were human, she would have been blushing. She didn't like being so confusing to complete strangers. Luckily enough for her, she wasn't. Pausing for another moment, Sini spoke up through Lucia with a sharp growl, "And I assume that you belong to this pack? You sound funny. Do most wolves of your pack have such ridiculous accents?" Blinking with embarrassment, Lucy flicked her ear, and lowered her head more. Oh dear god, her friend was going to upset someone. She knew that Sini often upset her without meaning too, and it would be a thousand times more horrible for her to offend some stranger.
"Sorry, sorry!" She barked, dipping her head so low the moist ground tickled her nose now, her blue eyes stared ahead blankly at nothingness, and she whined softly. "My friend Sini means no offense, I assure you! She is often like this, she doesn't mean to. She really doesn't." This was rather confusing to anyone listening, for it was impossible to tell the difference between the wolf speaking and the bird speaking- unless you knew their personalities well. And, being a complete stranger, probably meant one didn't know the difference. In fact, it was probably even more confusing to a wolf who knew nothing of the bond the bird and the wolf shared.
Well, it also should be said that Sini did not take kindly to her friend Lucy saying that she did not mean to be offensive. Sini did not believe that what she said was offensive at all! She merely spoke the truth and asked a question. Why any wolf would take that in a wrong way was beyond Sini, but she said nothing, only made sure the female understood she was furious and confused at Lucy... And the she-wolf felt her friend's feelings and only whined a bit softer, and sharing her feelings of sorry back to Sini wordlessly.

Slowly Kiana heard voices talking and decided to see what the strange wolf was doing. Her curious side got to her, so she stretched her long muzzle open then decided she'd investigate first, or spy. Shifting into the shadows, Kiana's pelt was un-seeable. Shifting her weight she saw a hawk and another wolf come into focus.
Shifting her weight again Kiana came out from the blackness and let out a little woof to let them know she was coming back. Slowly she stepped into the spot they were both standing at and shyly dipped her head down. Speaking softly she didn't like to get yelled at nor yell at someone so she nodded her head towards the green and black wolf. Fidgeting her paws Kiana spoke," Sorry I ran but first impressions always help a lot you know." She said, flicking her eyes back towards the border.
She was going to speed her way out of there if she was un-welcome.

The soft tones were back and Kerrigan's brows lowered in confusion. The swift change was uncomfortable, and his fur prickled. His saber fangs hung over his jaws and he opened his jaws to run his lime tongue over the black muzzle. She had changed again. She seemed slightly embarrassed and shot looks at the bird by her side. Kerrigan felt a thought wiggle into his intelligent mind and he clutched it, eyes narrowing suspiciously at the raptor who seemed to be very protective of the small female. The massive brute lifted his head and curled his lips back over double fangs just slightly. But lowered them to look back at the lime she-wolf. His bright lime orbs were sharp and fierce, but they echoed with kindness. But it disappeared in a flash as the young wolf spoke again. The harsh tone coming from the fae had his maw falling open and his lime eyes flashing. Impudent pup! No, it was that damn falcon. His lips rippled up. His accent was not stupid or ridiculous! It was strong. It told his heritage. It let him and everyone know he was of strong blood and he was very proud of it. His father had shared his accent. It was all he had left of his sire. Not that these two knew that. His ears flattened and he took a threatening step forward. But the fae's voice had him turning back, not killing the damn fool feather brain just yet.The soft voice was back and Kerrigan snorted twitching his tail. He shook out his pelt and gave the fae a reproachful look. "Doona say things ye doona mean. That bird there meant every word she spoke," he woofed, gesturing with a paw at the feathered twit. He shrugged. "But she," he drawled, looking at the bird, not at all bothered if he had to eat the thing, "needs to keep a civil tongue in her head. True or not, a wee bit o' tact, is rather appropriate at times." His words were true, insult hidden in polite speech.
A bark from behind him had his auds tilting back and then his cranium turning to look. He blinked at the fae and shrugged. "Tha' they are. But ye should hunt on pack territory. 'Tis my food and will help keep the pack going. We doona need loners stealing our rabbits tha' could go on to feed the pack tha' protects the land. Yer lucky I caught ye, and no' Chevara. She would nae hae talked. She'd hae killed ye on sight." He rolled his shoulders and moved so he could see both loners and the bird without stretching.[/blockquote][/ul]

There was another wolf, but Sini paid no attention to her. She was just another wolf- and this big brute's actions, the black and green one, made the bird uneasy. Defensive. The way the wolf looked so kindly to her Lucy. The way he seemed to react to Sini's honest comments. Hmph. Well, no one reacted so badly to her. Even when he seemed to go back to being half-decent at her wonderful Lucy's voice, what he said made her feathers ruffle. Civil? Civil! She was being honest. Damn wolves knew nothing about being Civil. Hmph. Ignorant, weird accented monster of a wolf. They would not have her Lucy. Who ever he was. 'My Lucy, I do not like this one at all. Perhaps we should leave?' The request was soft and sweet, one that would be convincing to anyone but Lucia.
No, little Lucia, although she could not see this wolf's actions, the way his eyes flared, the way he silently curled back his lips, she could sense how he was acting from Sini. She didn't mind at all. She knew that her friend would cause such a disruption, but he was giving Sini a warning, and that was nice of him. He was a good wolf. Yes, yes, he had to be a nice wolf. She would be his friend.
"Thank you Mr. Wolf Sir. Sini'll be better in the future, yup. I'll make sure of it, even if I have to teach her. She's really smart, I'm sure she'll learn. But if she still acts so rudely, please forgive her. I need her." The eagle at her side with the flare of blue in a patch on her feathers gave an annoyed squawk, but didn't speak through Lucia. Because it bothered this wolf, apparently, and her Lucy would only be happy if they made a good impression on the stupid big brute. Hmph.
Lucy, although hearing and knowing her friend's thoughts, did not act as if she had. No, Sini could be upset all she wanted. The she wolf wanted to join a pack, and he was SO interesting. She liked him loads already- and she was sure that they would get along so long as her friend behaved. The thought made Sini really furious, but she only lowered her head and glared over towards her beloved... master. She would get what she wanted, and perhaps this... Repulsing wolf would help Lucia in her life so she could do affectively what Sini's job was- keeping the she wolf safe. She enjoyed that thought, and as long as she focused on that, ignoring the fact she disliked the brute and Lucy's opinions was a hell of a lot easier.
"Hey, uhm, what are your names, though?" Lucy asked(mind you, it took a nudge from Sini for her to realize she didn't have names for either of them), with a bright grin, as she shifted her glance between the big male and the other one as best as she could, trying to act like a normal wolf.

he said, smiling slightly. She was a bright wolf, this one. Even if that bloody feather bag spoke through her. Anyways, they were pack members, and the young one didn't seem the bad sort. Kerrigan wondered idly how old she was and if she could hunt and fight well enough. His cat slit eyes ran over her. Probably not. But she would learn. And she hadn't complained about the swamplands. Good asset that. And Lucy seemed to want to please. Never mind the bird.[/ul][/blockquote]

The vibrant green wolf tilted her head, her ears flicking at the name. Kerrrrrrr. RRR. Rawr. Rawwryyy rawr. She grinned widely, her white teeth showing brightly, and her tail thumped happily against the squishy ground. Kerrigan, her new friend-Buddy, hopefully. She really could use a pack, and he was so very nice, what with his strange accent.
She could not see his looks, his smile, nor his polite bow. However, Sini seemed to be relaxing at whatever actions he was making. What is he doing, Sini? She begged to know, her mood swinging into a sadness and a need to see. The blue bird ignored the whine of her wish. 'Lucy, he's just being a wolf, like you. Answering, fidgeting... It's not exciting or special things.
However, the young wolf wasn't happy with this answer. She frowned, her head swinging to where her companion had landed, her ears lowering behind her head. "Sini, tell me," she whimpered, pawing the ground with one paw. "It's not fair that you don't share what you see with me." Rage boiled in the bird- the pup was being too carefree, she was saying more than she should. Her eyes rolled, and she thought back the motions the strange wolf had made.
"Oh! Oh! Mr Kerrrrrrigan." Her head turned back to where she had heard him last, and she dipped her head low to the ground, giving her 'bow' back to him, although it was hardly a bow. "Erm, would you mind if I- we, me and Sini, erm, stayed in your pack land? Erm, erm-"
Her voice was cut off sharply, and her tone shifted back to Sini's rather harsh, although attempting to be nice and not completely rude to this... Brute... that could help out her sweet Lucy. "If it would be alright to join your pack." The voice instantly switched back to the fae's normal voice, bright and bubbly- hopeful. "Yes, yes that! Oh, pretty please? I haven't had a home in... ever?"

Humph. Made no sense at all. Maybe the bird had a special power of use. He rolled his shoulders and then watched as Lucy jumped as if some new information had shocked her brain and she spoke in that same bright voice. Mister again. And he clamped his fangs together to resist laughing at her bow. And was her direction off....? He shoved it away and raised a paw to shake it lightly. "If I get to call ye Lucy, then ye should call me Kerrigan or Ker. 'Tis only equal trade," he woofed lightly, jowl curling in a smile. Her voice cam again. Stay in the pack lands? He opened his maw to ask in what fashion she wished to stay in the pack lands but closed it when the sharp voice cut in. He frown at that tone but decided it wasn't meant to be rude and a light grin curved his face. And he laughed, a deep rumbling sound like a river over rocks, at the excited agreement of Lucia. Kerrigan nodded his head. "I donna see why no'. We need pack members anyhow an' ye seem - ye both seem - to be good being," he agreed, swishing his long tail.[/blockquote][/ul]

Her ears flicked sharply, as embarrassment met her thoughts. She was off, slightly. She had to be, his voice was only the slightest bit louder in one ear than the other. She lifted her head, and shifted herself ever so slightly.
“Okay, Kerrrrrigan,”she replied, her high-pitched growl nearly purring over the r-sound in his name. Lucy loved how his name sounded. She wondered what he was doing, wishing she could see him like Sini could. She wondered to herself where Kerrigan’s companion was. What’s he do-”
Sini’s feathers ruffled, her stare at her Lucia shifting to the black wolf in a sharper glare. Annoyance flooded through the bird, but she told Lucy of the small motions he made, and when she asked what the brute looked like, she started listing off things in her mind. Black and green, black and green like me, like me Sini! The femme thought brightly, before his laughter caught her ears. They pricked, eager, ready to hear his answer.
When he said yes, the brightly colored wolf leapt to her paws, ”Did you hear him, Sini? Did you?! He said we can stay! Did you-” Sini’s sharp voice rung in her head.
'Yes, I did. I can hear, Lucy.' Her ears flattened, and her muzzle lowered, her black-encircled blue eyes narrowing in an upset way, her fun flattened by her friend’s lack of enthusiasm. She lifted her head after a moment towards Kerrigan, and woofed, ”Thank you, very much Mi-... Kerrigan.”

he said, soothing the sudden drop in emotions. She was young yet and her sudden bursts of energy were normal. Kerrigan, though a killer in many ways and not the kindest wolf, liked pups and training young wolves no matter how small the training may be. He swished his tail slightly and pricked his ears, nudging her shoulder slightly in a friendly gesture. "Now, stop bein' so polite and come on. Ye gotta get used to the land yer gonna live in," he woofed with more vigor to his deep, rumbling tones. He shook out his thick pelt, slim, long legs splayed and braced before moving forward at a trot. He turned slightly and slowed to make sure the she-wolf would follow. Lucy heard him get closer, but she didn't expect the wetness of his nose on her cheek fur. She flinched in her best attempt not to be startled- she wasn't used to anything touching her but her friend Sini and nature.
However, she made a lopsided grin as he spoke, Kerrigan was very nice. Even the prickle of defense and the shudder of wings as the bird half-hopped half-flew to her side didn't distract her from paying attention.
Kerrigan nudged her shoulder- to which she blinked; normally her bird friend would nudge her to get her moving, but it wasn't as rough... And this wolf was probably bigger than Sini. Her ear flicked, and she shuffled to her paws as he spoke to her. His pelt shook, and he was off.
Sini...? Her friend cawed lightly in wordless response, flapping up into the air.
Lucia grinned widely, and strode out after him, catching up when he slowed- being careful with warnings from her friend Sini not to run into anyone. She raised her muzzle to where she imagined Kerrigan to be- her ears listening to the drumming of his pawsteps.

Sini told her where she was going. She warned her of large wet spots and smaller ones, when it would probably be best to try to jump it, and when she could swerve around, and when she might get away with just running through it. Even without Sini though, she could have gotten by. She knew how wet it was here, and it didn't bother her at all. She trusted Kerrigan's pawsteps, though he had a longer stride than hers, when he tried she could keep up easily. She shivered as water splashed up over her own pelt, but she didn't mind it. It was more of a wake up call than anything. Like the world of the Marshlands was welcoming her.
When Kerrigan spoke again, this time asking a question, she paused in her pleasant train of thought, but never slowed in her following. He asked her about her story, like she was someone of importance. He past wasn't exactly something she knew by heart, but she could share with him what she could. It took a moment for her to fight off Sini- she could tell Kerrigan on all her own. She wanted to be a wolf, a real pack wolf. She wanted to speak for herself.
"Well, I lived in the loner lands as long as I remember. Sini's always been there for me too- we watch out for each other. And I dunno, I just felt like I should explore, so I headed here, I guess. And when I met you, I realized I really would like to be in a pack. A nice, warm, strong pack. So that I could grow strong and be someone... Someone that not just Sini would remember. Plus, I need someone to play with- Sini's not as fun as another wolf would be with, I bet!" Her happy upbeat tone was met with a large grin, as she memorized the small strip of land she was going over just by her paws.
Sini didn't like this very much. Already Lucia was straying from her. She was getting attached quickly to the land, to Kerrigan. Lucy even felt like she didn't need her already. Her small birdlike heart was being chipped slowly in two- but she was good at hiding it from small, carefree Lucy.

he woofed, voice strong as he said the words he believed in. The bird, no matter how harsh, seemed to care for the little fae greatly and had probably kept the lime femme alive for the most part. And she'd kept Lucy company. He spotted the slight rise of land that marked the camp and bounded up the slope, large claws digging into soil and making it slide down and into the water with a plop. When he reached the top, Kerrigan fluffed his pelt with a quick shake and then bounded to look down the slope to make sure Lucy made it up. It wasn't a big slope, but the dirt was loose.[/ul][/blockquote]
