He sat on his bedding, his muzzle upon his paws, watching the other packmembers. He felt, well ot be honest a little bored. Riptide had already hunted enough food for them to eat aplenty, and it was only just gone midday. His tail flicked lazily, every now and then catching the light of the sun from a small nook that fell upon the floor of the cave.
He sat up, raising his head suddenly, remembering now, what he needed. The ache in his wings, it had been so long since he last felt the exhileration of flight! He tested the feather now, feeling the blood rush to the tips of the feathers, feeling the need to lift off right here and now. He almost yipped in happiness, standing up and walking forwards a little so that his wings could stretch more.
Glancing around at most of his packmembers, only a few others were winged, and two of them were only pups. He couldn't fly with them...he would feel to respinsible, too nervous, to relax at all. Masina made him nervous, as did Haven, yet Cinder sat in her den looking equaly as bored as he did a few moments ago. His heart leapt at the concept of flying with her, watching her grace through the sky, the both of them like glistening comets.
"Hey Cinder, want to go flying for a bit? I really have the urge to stretch my wings" He asked as he walked over, finishing with a playful, lop-sided smile. He bent down, his muzzle upon his paws, looking up at his Alphess with his rump in the air, a little like an oversized puppy.
The falls must be beautiful at this time of day. It'd be great to see the packlands from a different angle" He added, almost as an afterthought, and half musing to himself.

Cindershock woke up with a sigh, she knew there was nothing to do, the hunting had been done, the bedding had been replaced. What could she do, other than sleep?! Cinder sighed and looked around, few of the wolves were awake, and Zephyr, being one of them, was coming her way.
Cinder grinned at him as he aproached, and stood to greet him. He asked her to go flying with him and she grinned even wider, flying, now why hadn't she thought of that? "Of course!" She said laughing lightly at his puppy-like posistion. She butted his shoulder with her head, hoping to make him fall over, before running out of the den.
She was careful on the slippery walkway, directly underneath the falls, and ran out into the warm sun. She stretched her wings and grinned, waiting for Zephyr to find his way out here, she laughed thinking of what she had just done.
Cinder adopted the posistion that Zephyr had, while waiting for him to apear.

Zephyr was caught off guard by Cinder's paw shoving against him. His jaw dropeped open as he tubmled over backwards like a clockwork toy, falling in a heap, the tip of his golden tail draped over one ear and his wings folded slightly underneath him. He blew his tail away from his eyes and laughed, the sound rolling full and free from his tongue. It felt right.
He bounded to his feet, feeling his excitement elevate, and getting that familiar feeling, that bloodrush that shot all the way to his secondaries. He gave them a little wiggle, watching the feathers angle themselves different ways.
"That's it, you'd better watch out!" He threatened, his face breaking into a huge grin as he leant back and leapt through the waterfall in a pounce, hoping to catch Cinder off guard on the other side.
This odd feeling of elation, and excitement of near flight, it sent shivers up his spine. It was like being a pup again, just wanting to play, the joy of playing for no reason. It was so carefree. Not that he'd had a hard life, but it was definately nice to feel so relaxed and at home. It made him realise that the pack was his family now, and that thought made his heart smile.

Zephyr leaped through the waterfall, and Cinder had to admit, she had been startled by it. She woofed happily and said "Bring it on!" before running and jumping into the air, spreading her wings and taking flight.
Her heart soared along with her body, being in the air, was...hevan. She grinned and pushed herself faster, letting her wings push her higher into the air. She could see everything from up here. If she looked really closley, she could even see through the waterfall, to see her pack.
She flew a bit higher, feeling the condensation of the clouds, and hovered waiting for Zephyr to catch up to her. She smiled thinking of the brute, with his golden pelt. She shook her head to clear the thoughts, and wondered 'What am I doing!?'
Cinder shook her head once more before yelling down "Come on Zeph!" 'Zeph!? Cinder what was that?' She waited for Zeph to come up and join her in the air. Her wings beat up and down, keeping her in the air.

He landed slightly wonkily, the spray of the falls putting him off as it wet his fur and his wings. Shaking himself like a large, silly dog, he grinned, his tongue lolling out as he watched Cindershock burst into the air with a flourish, a beautiful ebony standing out against the light of the sun, the flames on her wings seeming to dance as they rose and fell.
He laughed softly, watching her for a minute or two, then shook his head, listening as she called him. Zeph? I've never heard that one before. Zeph, it flows well he nodded his approval, then shook his head, clearing his thoughts. Without pausing for another thought to enter his head, he let his body do the talking and flung himself into the air, powerful back legs springing upwards as his wings snapped open.
He caught the first updraft he found, flapping his wings quickly and with a good pace to ensure he gained enough altitude. Their full span was a good twelve feet, and already he felt more at home, more in his element. His heart pounded, feeling the freedom flying gave him as the wind whistled around his muzzle, tassling his fur a little.
He angled himself to fly towards Cinder, using his tail as a sort of rudder to maintain his balance in the air. He dipped below her slightly, snapping at her tail playfully.
"I bet I can fly faster than you Cinder!" He called, doing a little twist in the air so that his belly faced the air, just below Cindershock, his wings flapping harder to maintain his altitude, his paws folded across his chest.

Cindershock's mouth dropped, "Oh, you can wish!" She laughed. She curled her tail up and over her back, so that it tickled her spine. She giggled lightly, because of just that, it tickled!
Zephyr didn't say anything about her calling him Zeph, so maybe he hadn't heard her. She lowered herself slightly, and batted carefully, making sure to keep balanced, at his ear. She grinned at him, "One, Two..three..GO" She took off at her fastest speed possible, pumping her wings, up, down, up, down, over and over.
She looked down as she flew looking at the trees as they passed underneath her, the veiw was absolutly gorgeous. Because she was not paying attention to where she was flying and at this speed, she flew straight through a tree! After obtaining a scratch on her cheek from a branch, Cinder watched where she was going this time, and flew a little bit slower.

The blowback from Cinders sudden burst of speed knocked him backwards a little, and he had to flip over to remain airborne. He straightened out, laughing as he shot out just after Cinder, urging his wings faster as he built up speed, angling his body so that there was less wind resistance.
"Hey no fair! I wasn't ready!" He cried, imitating a childish whine as he tried catching up with her. His eyes widened a little as he flew a little behind her, though they were both travelling quite fast. The way the sun glinted off her night-like wings was oddly beautiful, and he almost forgot to flap for a moment, losing a few feet in height.
What is happening Zeph? Use your brain! He forced himself to think, giggling a little again at his new nickname. He was only slightly behind Cinder now, and he urged himself forward, but only managed to gain a few feet so that his head was about level with Cinder's shoulderblades.
"Watch out Cinder!" He cried as a branch hit her cheek, and he himself had to swerve a little as trees cropped up between them. Casting a glance down, he suddenly noticed how simply awe-inspiring his home now was. The lush green of the forest compared to the sparkling azure of the waterfalls melted his heart. The Fukai Waterfalls He thought with pride, My Home.

Because of her lack of attention span, she was now slightly behind Zeph. She tried to make her wings flap harder, and she sped up only slightly, hopefully it would be enough to catch up and pass Zephyr. Though she doubted it. Cinder's toungue darted out to check if she could reach the cut on her cheek, she could, so she licked the blood off of it, where it had dripped down, and cleaned it slightly, as well as she could. She sped herself up a little bit more, trying to conserve as much energy as possible, but then she thought, 'No he'll beat me!' and sped back up to maximum speed, passing him just slightly, she was about a nose in front of him, "Eat my air" She said, laughing at the expression she modified to fit the time and place. She looked back a moment, to admire Zeph as his wings stroked powerfully, propelling him foward, and after her.

He pushed himself forward, tucking his back legs underneath him, making his body mass smaller to make him faster. He grinned wistfully as he felt the wind rush past his ears, making a slight whistling sound. The cold biting against his cheeks made him slightly more alert, and he whooped in the air, his tail trailing behind him as he sped on, glancing back at Cinder as she fell back.
"Getting tired?" He slowed down ever so slightly, unsure whether or not he should let Cinder win. He decided to give it his all, but not be too serious about it. Bucking his front legs like an odd winged horse, he sped up a little again, sticking his muzzle out as if that would help him gain speed. Then she passed him, and he sighed with laughter, furrowing his brows as he concentrated and kept just behind Cinder.
Glancing down, he noticed an outcrop of small waterfalls coming up ahead of them. He dropped height a little to get a better view, and though they were coming up quick, there was still a nice distance of land between them and the falls.
"See those little waterfalls ahead of us? First one to those wins the race! Loser has to do a forfeit!" He shouted, his voice playful over the wind as he rose and fell on the air currents, wings dipping and rising to keep in touch with the wind.

"Me? Tired? No way!" she said shocked. "Your on!" Cinder yelled back to him, and sped up. Her eyes began to water from the wind. She pumped her black wings up and down, rhythmically, concentrating, she made them go faster and faster. Until she was about a wolf's length in front of Zeph.
She saw the waterfalls just ahead, she closed her eyes, thinking for a moment, then re-opened them and continued on, her wings were beginning to ache, she hadn't worked them like this in a long time. Just a little stretch every now and then.
Cinder dipped down closer to the ground getting ready to land on the waterfalls. She grinned as she landed and folded her wings panting, her tongue lolling out the side of her mouth.
She laid down on the rock, still panting, letting the coolness of the rock sooth her hot muscles as she waited for Zeph. Ahhhhh....Zeph, she thought smiling to herself.

He chuckled at her sheer spirit and determination, the flame in her eyes lighting his heart which made his eyes widen a little. Did he just think that? Perhaps she would not mind too much, she had given him a nickname, which must meant she liked him. It didn't matter, at the moment, all he cared about was being here, flying free, with a friend.
He groaned as he realised his antics in deep thought had put him behind in the race, and Cinder was a good distance ahead of him now. Frowning a little in feigned ultimate concentration, he put his head down, angling his wings backwards to deliver more powerful strokes with less gap time in between.
It was not enough. He was a little gutted at the fact that Cindershock had reached the falls before him, and for a little while he hovered there, panting, his wings keeping him at the same height as he watched her sun herself on the rocks. Still at the same time he was happy that she was a good racer, that'd mean good competition in the future. He grinned at the concept, and allowed himself to dive bomb down through the falls, dipping the tips of his wings in a watery spray, feeling the cool liquid soothe his feathers.
He landed softly a little behind Cindershock, watching her steady breathing as he shook his wings off a little before folding them upon his back. He sat beside her, though not too close and gave a short glance around, not really looking at anything before turning his eyes back to her.
"Beautiful view from here isn't it?" He said matter-of-factly whilst looking at her, his cheeks getting a little red under their golden fur.

Cinder heard Zeph land behind her, and felt him shake the water off of his wings, the cool spray from him felt good on her back. Her foot twitched as the cold water hit it. Cinder answered with her eyes still closed, "Yes it really is" she breathed out quietly, smiling in peaceful serenity.
She opened her violent purple eyes, and stared up at Zephyr. She took a moment to admire him, before laying her head back down on her paws, and closing her eyes once again.
"How was that? I do beleive I won..." She said grinning, she giggled lightly, and peeked with one eye up at him, through her lashes. She blinked slowly, not wanting to close that one eye.
She opened the other one quikly, and stared around her, admiring the beuaty of this forgotten place. Then looked back to Zephyr as if to say 'Wow'.

He watched her with an intense curiousity, like a pup watches a fluttering butterfly they had never seen before. This creature lying before him was so similar, yet he knew almost nothing of her, and he felt so in tune with her. He smiled a crooked, almost helpless smile, the smile of a lovestruck fool.
Then his jaw dropped and his eyes widened. She was so cocky! He grinned straight after though, his tongue lolling out a little, laughing quietly.
"Well missy, that you did. But I got distracted by-...something else" He began tauntingly, but at the last few words he drastically changed tact, realising what he was about to say. He laid down a little, his tail flicking across and he crossed his paw one over the other.
"But I'll win next time. You wait and see!" He joked whilst nudging her muzzle with his nose. He glanced around a little, taking in for the first time the gentle spray of the fall that was cooling, the little flecks of moss growing defiantly through the crack in the rock they now sat on.
He looked back and saw Cindershock looking up at him with an odd expression in her eyes. His face changed to a look of concern, and his ears drooped a little, worried that he may have done something wrong.
"Cinder are you alright? Do I have leaves in my fur?" He asked, suddenly very self conscious, his ears flicking a little, to try and rid his fur of the 'leaves' on his head.

Cinder relized she was staring at Zeph, with a look of love on her face. She was quikly coming to love this brute. "Pssh, yeah right, sure you will win," she said sarcasticly.
"Oh...uh, no you are fine." She said looking away embarassed her cheeks turning a darker red than her fur. She bit the inside of her cheek, 'Silly me, he doesn't like you like that' she thought to herself.
She smiled hesitantly at him, her big purple eyes staring with the look of love, she just couldn't get rid of. She knew he probably did not reciprocate the feelings, but she just couldn't stop. She grinned again, and grinned some more, she couldn't stop doing this either. What was wrong with her,s he had never felt like this.
She was in love... In love with Zephyr...Oh dear, what am I going to do!?

Zephyr smiled and shook his head, rolling his eyes dramatically at Cinder's comeback, when he stopped, looking at her. She had that look again, and even though she had said he was fine, he couldn't help but feel a little self-conscious, and his ears lowered a bit again. A low whimpering sound escaped from his throat, and he swallowed, mentally shaking himself. He was being stupid. There was nothing wrong with him!
He looked back at her, staring at him. His eyes unwillingly wandered to her violet orbs. They were "like amethysts, glimmering against a beautiful fiery pelt". His head dropped forwards slowly, unable to look away.
Suddenly, after she grinned, he realised with a shocking sensation in his heart that he had just voiced that previous thought aloud. He coughed and looked away, swallowing at least a few times as his eyes darted about nervously, his ears flattening in embarrassment. He thought he caught a slight blush from her out of the corner of his eye, a darker patch of red beneath the lovely fur of her cheeks...
His ears flicked, each one in turn as his eyes searched for anything else to look at, yet those glowing purple orbs in his periphoral vision called to him.

Cinder's heart lept in delight as he commented on her eyes. She grinned even wider, if that was even possible. Her cheeks heated up slightly as she blushed redder than before. As he looked away from her, her heart plumeted.
'I knew it, he doesn't like me like that.' She sighed aloud 'Why am I so incecure right now!? "I am Cindershock alphess of Fukai Waterfall pack, and I can take rejection!" her eyes widend hugely, so that they were like a scared rabbits, when she relized that she had spoken aloud.
Her face heated up so much, she was sure she resembled a tomato even more than she normally did. Her purple eyes were as wide as they possibly could be, and her maw had dropped open. She couldn't belive she just said that!
"Uh, er, heh, ummm..." She stammerd out, trying to think of some excuse, after finding none her head drooped down as well as her once perky ears, and she whined loudly.

Zephyr's heart pounded with odd feelings for Cinder, yet his cheeks still flushed with shame. He spared her a quick glance, she seemed unhappy. Looking back at her he opened his mouth to apologise when she spoke.
She seemed as surprised as Zephyr to hear the words come out of her mouth, and the blush that followed spreading across her cheeks was the cutest thing Zephyr had ever seen, he leant over and licked one of her cheeks playfully. Then he gave a small gasp, and gulped.
Okay Zeph. Here goes. You are strong. Confident. Proud. This is the moment and you should not hesitate. He repeated it over in his head twice, then screwed his eyes a little, exhaling to try and relax himself, before looking back at Cinder, straight into her lovely lilac eyes.
"Well, Cindershock, Alphess of Fukai Waterfall Pack, I am Zephyr...subordinate of Fukai Waterfall Pack. And I..." He swallowed again, licking his lips, gosh his throat was dry.
"And I love you Cinder!" He blurted out, cringing a little, before tensing his muscles, unfurling his wings, ready to bound into the air at any sign of rejection. Cinder may be able to handle rejection, but he certainly couldn't.

"What?!" Cinder couldn't belive her ears. Zephyr loved her? It was too good to be true. He looked as if he were about to take flight, to get away from her. She couldn't let him do that.\
She lept to her feet and tackled him to the ground, hen hopped off, making sure he wouldn't fly away. "You really mean it? You love me?" Cinder asked. Then, not waiting for an answer, she lept atop him and showered his face in licks. "I love you too, you big brute!" She laughed out, licking him some more.
She got off him and sat down looking down upon him, smiling, even her purple eyes were smiling at him now. While sitting down and staring at him, she thought, 'I can't believe it, hne does like me, he LOVES me.' It was still hard to beleive, that HE loved HER, and SHE loved HIM.

He cringed as she heard her reply, a reply of disbelief. So yes, here came the rejection. He hung his head, tears pricking in his eyes. He should have known she would never want him. The silence that followed was unbearable, so he would save her the trouble. He crouched down, legs muscles coiled ready to spring up, however he was trembling with shame, and a pathetic whimper escaped his lips. He was halfway through leaping when Cinder tackled him, pinning him to the ground.
He was surprised when she got off straight away, but then she continued to speak. Realisation dawned on him that she didn't sound angry or disgusted, she actually sounded...happy. He opened his eyes, blinking away the tears that scorned him just a few moments ago, and had barely enough time to register Cinders happy grin before she practically licked his face off.
He laughed joyfully, shaking his muzzle a little as she sat back to look at him. He then leaned forwards, sitting down beside her and nuzzled her affectionately, inhaling the sweet scent of her fur.
"Yes. I do, I truly love you Cinder." He said finally, laying his head upon hers. His heart was filled with joy, he could barely contain it! Yet all he could do was smile and chuckle slightly, happy that he had someone he could share the world with, someone he could be there for.
"And I'll always be here to-" He paused, remembering how well she handled herself in their little race. He had been about to say to protect you, but instead he finished with
"To watch your back"

Condershock grinned hugely, Zephyr really did love her. No matter how crazy it may be, he did. She stopped licking his face to death, and she leaned into his body, letting him hold her up. She rested her head on his back, an awkward posistion, but it was comfortable, because she got to be near him. She breathed in his scent, it smelled, perfect. Words could not describe the scent. It fit him perfectly, and she couldn't get enough of it.
She breathed the scent in some more, and smiled again. She licked his shoulder softly, lovingly, before letting her face relax, against his back once more. 'Ahhhhhh, This is just right, perfect' Cindershock thought to herself.
"Oh, Zeph, I love you too." She said to him, meaning every word. She let the felling fill her up to the brim, to where she was almost bursting with joy, love, and happiness. She chuckles along with him, almost hystericlly as the moments passed on. She just couldn't keep the feelings inside, it was overwhelming her completly.
And he said he would always have her back, but not protect her, not that she needed it, and she knew that he knew that. Which is probably why he said it. "I'll always have your back as well, Zeph." She said back grinning, and giggling slightly. 'Stop it Cinder,' She told herself 'He's goning to think your a loon!' She didn't normally have this much trouble controlling herself, and she kind of liked it.
Cinder nuzzled her maw further into his thick, gold coat, breathing in a huge breath, and letting it out as a happy, contented sigh.
