Just a youngling, thought the ebony male, as he sat in the plains with a young looking wolf under his paws. No more than a pup just old enough to be without a mother. His maw was stained in blood and his paws no better, but he did not waste this kill. It was important not to waste kills of normal wolves, for they had to eat the other prey. If they didn’t, the prey would become over populated… Or some other predator would take their place. The dark wolf didn’t like the idea of his hunted being masked by the scents of other creatures, and it already happened quite often.
The young wolf was small and young, rather quite cute for a wolf. She had chocolate fur with speckled white markings and bright yellow eyes. She had falcon wings, but because she was dead, she was not the one. He pressed his muzzle to her flank, and muttered a thanks to the Guardians, not thinking about whether the deed was wrong in other wolves eyes- he had been brought up this way, and he would live this way for his whole life, if he could help it. He couldn’t imagine eating hare or mouse or deer, those grass eaters didn’t seem fit to him. Meat eaters, challenges, his fellow kind pawing their way up for survival… He only knew the joy of this life.
After thanking the Guardians, and praying that the young wolf’s soul safely made it to wherever she was supposed to go, he tore flesh and began to eat his last meal before his journey into the Misuteriasu Mountains.
He was looking for the one. The perfect mate for him, the one he was destined to be with. He felt no tug in any direction, he felt like he was lost really. He didn’t mind being lost, but he wanted to know what it felt like to belong somewhere once again. Because of the number of females in the Mistuteriasu being so great, he thought he would have a great chance there at first. He would keep to himself, and with this meal, he knew he would not have to eat for a while, and thus he could wait until he had seen all the females in the pack before even thinking about killing one of them.
He licked his paws clean and washed his muzzle, he would have to be clean and decent if he wished to be on good grounds with this pace and any female who lived there. He wagged his tail at the thought, and carefully dug a small hole in the ground and buried the remains of his meal. With a great, deep sigh he stood up, and looked to the towering peaks. Today, he felt, would be a good day.
His muscles surged with the power of his last meal, and he took off in an instant, racing towards the place of his first search. He did not stop until he was hit by the wall of scent- the boarder. His skidded to a stop, and then flicked his ear. Would he go forward, or wait? He wondered, curiously, if he would be let into the pack, aloud to explore. He was sure if he played his cards right, he would at least have a little time to find the she-wolves of the pack. But then again, maybe he could test his luck?
His paws itched, surely if he didn’t hunt in their territory, he would be alright. He could make an excuse. He really didn’t want to howl and draw the Alpha to him- he wasn’t sure how he’d react if such a thing happened. Careful and quick and silent, the wolf named Wynter, trotted into the territory, and began his search of the Mountains and the she-wolf he was so-called born to be with.

Nynx sniffed the air. She arched her back and yawned loudly. She was still mateless. The whole pack besides Lucid and the omega, the pack was full of females. Nynx was getting tired of having all the bitch's on her tail. She needed a mate... Nynx knew there was someone tresspassing. Nynx howled loudly. Her voice was sly and strong. She was simply telling them to show themself. She hated wolves that hid. Nynx padded into the clearing, she was curious to see if the tresspasser would be male or female. She hoped that the creature would be male.

He traveled for a while in the Mountains, searching for anything and anyone. His paws treaded the land swiftly and accurately as if it was his own home, and he poked his nose into every cavity. Finally, he caught ascent. It filtered across his nose, stronger than any scent he had caught before. And it was, indeed female. He paused, wondering if he would get it right in the first try. He doubted it.
The shadowy male filtered in the shadows for a moment, his bright eyes searching for a wolf- when a bright, bold call made his ears prick and his heart stop for a moment. His skin crawled- he hadn’t expected to be caught. He felt as if every eye in the territory fell on him, but now he knew where the female lay. He padded forward towards the clearing where he had heard the she-wolf, his paw steps careful, and his head even, not high and dominate, but certainly not giving in.
Slightly worried, he closed his eyes, and stepped forward out of his hiding place, allowing her to see him before he saw her. To see what she thought of him before he thought anything.

Nynx looked at the brute. She flicked her tail out of annoyance. She studied his posture. He seemed strong. Nynx closed her eyes then opened them. This brute was rather handsome."My name is Nynx Baskil. I am the betess of the Misuteriasu Mountains. What is your calling? Nynx narrowed her cold eyes. She wanted to relax around the brute. He seemed harmless. She knew better, she learned the hard way. Her lime green- black pelt glittered in the moonlight. She was beautiful and she knew it. The brute knew it. Something caught Nynx's sharp eye, he had wings. Beautiful, raven shaped wings.
Nynx wanted to eat him up. Damn. Nynx hated it that she fell for this brute so easily. She shook her head and look at him stright in the eyes.

His bright, brilliant blue eyes opened. The moon’s light made them sparkle, but he had no idea what he looked like right now. He lost all sense in what was real or not. He was officially lost in himself. He didn’t feel as though he was hungry for wolves anymore. The thought was repulsing- no, no it was just this wolf.
Her fur, a dark black, sparkled in the light, gleaming a bright silver in certain spots. She had green streaks here and there, and her teeth were long and sharp. She had piercing on each ear, each which glinted and caught his eye for a second. But only for a second before he was lost in her eyes. They were black, pure black, yet they shined brightly. He felt lost there for a moment, forgetting everything he knew.
But she addressed him. Nynx was her name. Nynx. he thought the word in his head, hearing her voice, over and over. He smiled, flashing a set of white teeth, and nodded shortly, but he had forgot all words. He stepped forward, accepting the fact that she was Beta. He wasn’t sure if she was the one- he was full of self-doubt- but everything seemed to point to it. Besides, she was SO beautiful.
Words. Names. He had to find them. He cleared his throat with a soft growl and stated his name as clearly as possible, “Wynter. Wynter Caul, Nynx.” He felt honored to say her name. She seemed like an angel, although black like him. She had no wings, but she was beta of the Mountains. She was strong. She and him… They could be mates. If… She liked him back… No, he would just have to convince her. Yes, that was it.
”And, I have come here and found my home,” he told her in the most convincing voice he could pull of, his voice velvety smooth, and with a flick of his tail and a twitch of his ears, he padded a bit closer, hoping that perhaps he could get his message across. Yes… She would be his home now.

Lucid had heard Nynx's call out to someone treading his lands. Who would even think to do such a thing, especially when pups were just born here. It was obvious they dwelled the lands... there were chewed sticks and pup "toys" everywhere. Lucid growled inwardly, standing quickly and tearing to the sky. No wolf was going to come into his lands... not now that he had pups! He would make sure that any wolf, brute or femora, that decided to walk into his lands, would know their place and not get too comfortable.
He flew through the sky, his black form a dark silhouette over the moon. Seeing Nynx and sensing her thoughts, he growled again. Sure, she was able to accept wolves into the pack... but that doesn't mean that Lucid would be so trusting to any brute who came into the pack.
He reached his mind out, listening for a thought of any sort, but was only found a mental barrier, a wall he couldn't get through. This made Lucid all the more cautious of this brute. He didn't trust him.. something about this brute was off... and Lucid wasn't about to let him get anywhere near his pups!
He landed calmly beside Nynx, a little farther in front of her. He stood his full, enormous height, and looked at the brute before him with a stern look, showing his position and demanding the respect it held.
"What is your business here?" His voice was slightly on the harsh side, considering his newfound fatherly position. He was constantly on the defensive, especially with unfamiliar wolves.. and even more so with wolves he couldn't read. This angered and irked him... something you would never want to do with Lucid.
He lashed his tails behind him and showed his teeth ever so slightly. Lucid wasn't sure how he felt about this wolf, but he did know that he had a family and a pack to protect... and something about this wolf didn't seem right. ((Okay to jump in? If not, I can just edit my post lol. Just thought I might bring a little controversy))

Nynx lowered her tail with submission. She did not fear Lucid. She looked at Wynter and bared her fangs slightly. Nynx looked at her Alpha male. Would he kill Wynter.? Nynx closed her eyes, she wondered if Lucid would kill her too. "Lucid... I'm sorry..." She lowered his head and sighed.
Nynx's skull hurt from over thinking. She should of asked Lucid, if Wynter could join. She was stupid and pathetic. Clouds moved over the moon, the clearing was so dark, Nynx had trouble seeing. She needed to get Wynter to leave, she liked him to much for him to get injured or killed. She needed him... He needed her.

((Put open for a reason |D))
It was pretty much the biggest wolf Wynter had ever seen. His heart stopped for a moment, and he lost all thought of Nynx in that moment. Huge, black, dark, looming... The smaller black wolf- who, admittedly was a decently big wolf himself- normally might have liked the thought of such a big prey... But... He couldn't think of this monstrous wolf ((Is it just me, or do I always call Lucid a monster? I'm so rude and mean D=)) in front of him as prey, just like with the female near him. He backed away from Nynx, and his head dipped instantly- the waves of strength and power and DEMAND washing over him. His eyes narrowed, not in defiance, but merely to avoid his eyes widening in shock. The voice that came from this male was harsh and loud, roaring over his ears. What... What was his... His business... He didn't know... He didn't...
And she... The female, she bared her teeth at him, if only slightly... He felt sick at the gesture, as she gave hints of submission to her Alpha...
Nynx's voice rung pleasantly in his ears though, making his senses come back and his reasoning going through his mind. He just had to get it together... Not to hard, right? He glanced the large wolf up and down, and absorbed the she-wolf's words- Lucid... His name? What was she sorry about... He breathed in deep, pausing and catching a scent which he had missed in his race to find the 'one'... The scent of milk and pups. PUPS. Oh great. He lowered his head more, and showed no signs of happiness, only seriousness.
"I came to find a pack, sir," he stated in a timid voice, his heart sinking. If only he had waited at the boarder. He wouldn't be in such trouble... He should have waited. He should have... Ugh, stupid. "I didn't realize... Stupid... Stupiiid..." He muttered to himself, crouching down low. He'd never would have given in to another wolf- he was never that logical. He was wild and untamed... And yet... In this pack... With Nynx- so beautiful... And Lucid... Oh, Lucid, the Alpha and FATHER of pups... He could only hope he wouldn't be killed.
...Or he could run? Could he escape the packlands fast enough? He had swift wings, but were they swift enough? He didn't know... He could fight, but unless he was strong and agile enough, there was no chance of surviving... Even if Nynx helped, it would only be suicide... And she should side with her Alpha, should she not? His mind was torn, his heart sunk in darkness, and his mind reeling. Everything he knew had been flipped on it's side... Was this what Imprinting was like? It wasn't fair... It... How could he have fallen for obvious death?

Lucid flicked his tails as he listened to Nynx. Granted, she usually seemed to have a good judge of character, but honestly, couldn't she see there was something completely off about him? The thing that bothered Lucid the most was that he couldn't read the brute's mind. That was an unusual thing for him and was an instant factor in discovering motives and sensing lying... Lucid couldn't do that with this brute and it both angered and frustrated him.
He looked to the brute's submissive pose and grinned slightly to himself. At least this wolf had the decency to know who his superiors are. I already have, what... two omega's? Wait.. no it would be one, I think... Raven died... A slight tail flick in this thought... I could make him omega... or come up with a rank that's even lower. There is no way he was going to be any higher than Omega though.. not until he could figure things out and discern the meanings behind this brute's presence.
"You tread upon lands that are both claimed and vast. There is no place for you to run, which I discern judging from your submissive pose and body position, and if you do try to run, you will be caught and killed. Now, what to do if you choose to stay where you are? The options are few and right now, I'm rather indecisive in my thoughts about you. Do you live... or do I kill you here and now? Have you proven your life worthy at this point? Or are you just a mere waste of space and life? [/color] His glowing eyes glowed brighter as he looked the brute up and down. He could sense Nynxs thoughts and he flicked his tails. Turning his head ever so slightly to face her, he spoke. "You have a fondness for this brute... When there is something obviously off about him. You were going to accept him into the pack, even after the fact there are pups whom have only been just brought into the world... MY pups... and you choose to invite a total stranger to the lands? Poor judgement, yes, on your part, Nynx. What shall I do?"[/b] He looked at her and back to him, flicking his tails and flexing his large wings. "So why shall I let you live?"[/b] He looked full on at the brute and waited for his answer. It could mean the difference between life and death for him. He grinned ever so slightly.[/blockquote]

A quarrel, an argument, and one who watched. The three wolves were all odd to Harlequin, all packed with scents beyond her understanding. She smelled blood, she smelled lots of blood, from two of them especially. The smaller one, the one who cowered smelled of it freshly, but he did not interest her much. Her eyes locked in on the large black one. "Behold, death walks," She muttered, shaking her head as her ear twitched. She watched the massive black monster. She took a step towards them, urged by a will beyond her understanding.
She stopped, and backed up again, "Stupid stupid stupid girl. He can kill you, he WILL kill you. The black wolf is scary, so scary, no no no," She shook her head, lowering herself, making herself small in the distance. She felt the wind, good, it was blowing towards her, they would not be able to smell her. She hid, but inside she danced. Wolves, others, creatures not born from nightmares. She had almost stopped believing such creatures were real.
"They are interesting," She muttered, "The two are attracted, and the one. His mind is loose, sanity doesnt like him, no no no it doesn't" She shook her head, hopping a little, "Darkness, so much darkness. Mad he will be, madness he will know. He must know, he must know." She shook her head again, "No, have to think straight now. It's summer, probably pups. If he is the alpha then he will be very protective of these lands, I should not tread any further. But he must know. Yes, he must, must know what? About the moon and the sanity. Ah, yes, of course. But I must not move, if I go, they will murder me. The Harlequin must wait. NO! I do not wish to wait. The nightmares, they reach for him, behold, one has approached."
She looked down with alarm, a moment of nothing, then she saw it. A small shadow approached the three distant wolves, on clicking and snapping legs it ran. It was drawn by the shadows, drawn by the darkness. Nothing more than a mouse, a mouse that walked on eight long spiny spider legs, clicking by their many joints, two long fangs hanging from the mouses mouth. It flickered, fading in and out of existence as it approached, becoming more whole with every step.
It stopped, only a few feet from the feet of the wolves. Its form flickered only once, then it was whole, the most perfect ghost, the most tangible nightmare. It let out a loud shrill squeak, after all, it wanted to introduce itself.

Nynx fell to the ground. She was so afraid for her life... She needed to get Wynter away... She loved him to much... for Lucid to kill him. She turned to looked at Wynter."If you value your life... I'd listen to him.." Nynx growled harsh as gravel. She closed her eyes. She needed to tell Lucid, Wynter's curse... The pack was unsafe...
Nynx rolled over onto her belly. She was acting like a whelp... She hated it. She was so stupid... Why did she fall for Wynter? Why? "Lucid. I will chase him off, if you wish. I may love him, however, your pups life's are more imporant then... Wynter... Nynx snapped her mouth togeather.
Nynx circled Wynter, she raised her hackles and snarled slightly. She would do what ever him Alpha male ordered.

Why should Wynter live? His mind turned on itself, the question was quite imposing. He closed his dark blue eyes, a sigh escaping his muzzle, and he dipped his head curtly, his wings shuffling in unease behind him. He was going to answer, but sweet Nynx’s voice ran through his ears like… Fire…
His eyes snapped open. She was growling at him. His pelt prickled, and the only thing keeping his instinct from snarling back or at least to himself, was the deep, running love that pulled at his core. His eyes shifted to the large alpha, and he gave a weak smile. His ears flicked, catching her words, but he decided that he would do whatever Nynx thought was best. If she would chase him off, he would run. His wings snapped open, and his smile turned to a grin, listening to her snarling as she paced around him.
”Nothing will stop me from joining this pack, ‘kay?” He said in a honest voice. ”I don’t take up space. I will fight for the pack. I will not eat if the pack needs the food more-“ to be truthful, he wouldn’t eat anything the pack would anyway, unless he had to, ”-Even if you chase me off, my heart will forever be lost here. I’m afraid, Lucid, Alpha of the Misuteriasu Mountains… That if you cannot trust me, and if Nynx must chase me off…”
He stopped speaking. A shrill sound pierced his ears, and he snapped his gaze to the creature… If it could be call that. It smelled like poison, like death. His nose twitched- it was a mouse. A mouse… Spider? His lips pulled back. What in hell was it? It looked like a mouse with spider legs and fangs, and he clawed the ground with a shiver. Prove himself? Try to, at least? His eyes shifted to Lucid, then Nynx, and he dipped his head, swooping back to the little monster, and snorted.
”Well, I will wait until you can trust me Lucid. I will gain your trust. I will wait at the boarder every day until I die, if I must. His voice was less focused and direct now, his eyes locked on the critter, though his ears each focused on Nynx and Lucid. His tail twitched, his wings still spread out, although he certainly wasn’t planning on flying off. ”Of course… Lucid… If you kill me here and now, as would be the easiest way of dealing with me at the moment…” His voice trailed for a moment.
”The strongest of hearts can deal with being separated from their love, as long as they know the other is safe… But unless you want to scrap all hope in Nynx, I wouldn’t kill me… I… I make a great fighter, if you ever need the sort of thing… Say, if you wished to expand your glorious territory…” Power… He would pull at the power strings. An extra paw was always useful for gaining power. If he had more time, he would be able to explain more… Yet, Wynter couldn’t imagine telling the Alpha to give him a week, even a day… Lucid was either going to kill him or chase him off, unless his words were right. He didn’t doubt his words though. His head lifted up, and he folded his wings, attempting to look rather proud for a moment, and twisted his head away from the mutant-mouse to the Alpha, and closed his eyes.
He opened his mouth to speak, a whole speech planned out, but shut his mouth, smiled timidly, and pushed his nose back down, until it settled into the dirt. His wing feathers ruffled. A low rumble came from his mouth as he rethought his words… He would not tell Lucid yet, he would not tell him anything just yet. ”It is your pack, it is your choice. As much as I would like to go through the paces of gaining your trust, if you want to shut me out to protect your pups, kill me, send me away. I won’t judge you, I have no right. Give me the chance, and I promise you will not be let down.” He opened his eyes, and looked back to the creature, his tail flicking once nervously.

Lucid sneered at the brute, but soon found his attention caught elsewhere. He growled at the mouse and shot a fireball toward it in order to attempt to incinerate it. Merely a second after he shot the fireball, he looked toward the direction of the area where it came from, not paying attention to whether or not he hit it. He knew there was another wolf nearby and with his present mood, it might prove to be potentially fatal for this wolf to be near.
"Show yourself! Show yourself now, or face the wrath of the Alpha of the Mountains!" He growled in the direction, noticing the wind was blowing toward the trespasser. That would explain why he hadn't seen or heard or even smelled the other sooner. This thought angered him beyond the point he was now as a deep, rumbling growl emitted from his chest. He looked at Nynx and ordered her.
"Nynx, go see who that is. Since you've obviously had a thing for this brute, I assume your judgement may be a little clearer with another wolf? If this other wolf is useful to me, don't kill it. Invite it to the pack and then we will have potentially another omega." [/b] It wasn't a request, but a full on order. He partially did it to get her attention and her mind away from the brute before him so he could have more of a one on one sort of deal. "As for you, I may have use for you. Know this, if you do anything... and I mean anything to betray me in any way, I will hunt you and I will kill you, no questions asked. No matter where you run or where you may try to hide, I will find you and destroy you. Think twice before you betray me, whelp."[/b] He lashed his three flamed tails behind him and flexed his enormous wings. He held his head and his posture high, the mark of an alpha, and waited for the brute to answer him and for Nynx's verdict on whether the other trespasser would be any use to him. His glowing eyes never left the face of the brute before him. "You may join my pack. You will be an omega. Once you have proven your worth, then... and ONLY then... will you be able to claim beta, but that would only be by default, for you have fallen for my beta female. If it weren't for that, you probably would have been dead by now. You owe her your life, so don't disappoint her or me... Got it?"[/b] He growled deeply, rumbling from deep within the caverns of his dark torso. His large paws flexed before him, nails digging into the hard earth of the mountains. He waited, just as he always did for the responses and for whatever was to come next.[/blockquote]

The odd mouse creature had vanished, but in it's wake, it left no body. Only charred earth remained. After all, nightmares cannot be killed, nightmares cannot be hurt or broken. Nightmares never did something new. Harlequin supposed that was the only reason she could live as she did, wandering so lonely in a sea of 'others'.
She jumped a little as the large scary monster spewed flames as if the fires of hell itself burned within him. She was frightened of him, and of the smaller wolf who cowered before him. "He's a murderer," She muttered, shaking her head, her ear twitching. Then there was the third wolf, the smitten one. She seemed to hold a bit of power herself, although she did fear the large wolf Harlequin could only assume was the Alpha. "Everyone fears the boogieman," She sang out to an unnamed music. "The moon itself, it fears him too," She whispered, shaking her madness away once again.
She jumped, letting out a small squeak as she heard the wolf's command. Such a strong voice, such a dark one, "The Devil,' She pipped excitedly, "The devil the devil I found the Devil!" She shook with the fury in his voice, it was so powerful. But she heard something else rising above the shout of the distant wolf. The shadows were stirring, drawn by him. The nightmares wanted him, craved him and his pack. Craved the potential of insanity each of the wolves below held. They whispered to her, naming the wolves below, and through her, their voice was heard, "Behold, the murderer, the monster, and the smitten," After all, the third wolf was in love, and love, or so Harlequin believed, was the purest form of insanity.
She obeyed the command, stepping out from behind the rock that had masked her from view, her black pelt shimmering against the dull terrain, her eyes gleaming down in the sun. At this distance, with the gift of distance blurring view, she was beautiful once again, for one moment, she was whole. But the fear returned, the panicked chattering in her mind as the nightmares stirred. she took a step down but stopped. He had only told her to show herself. She must not do anything he didn't tell her, or she would be dead. Her logic was clouded by voices not her own, but the logic was sound all the same.
Halfway between Harlequin and the wolves a shadow darkened, a nightmare flickered in and out of existence, then vanished into the darkness. It was waiting, a trap set by a creature of the cleverest variety. It wanted the wolves, and this nightmare, this special nightmare would take them. After all, he was always the special one.

Nynx closed her eyes and trotted over to the boulder. She lept onto the sleek stone. She spotted a black female. She bared her fangs and flicked her tail. She was told not to hurt the loner, but to bring it back to Lucid. Nynx would do what Lucid ordered her to do.
Nynx's long black claws clacked against the hard surface. Nynx grabbed the black female and dragged her down to the ground. She paced back and forth watching the strange female. 'Your an odd one...But.. I can't say that... I'm in love with a cannibal' Nynx snarled to her self slightly. Life was a bitch. Her mind raced thousands of directions. What if Wynter lost control and... No. Wyner had control of his curse. He would have been killed by some other wolf, he could not. She turned around to look at Lucid again. She felt like an unloyal pack member, she should of never invited him into the pack... 'I should've known better...' Nynx kept her face soild as stone. Nynx never showed her true feelings. She was keep them hidden. Why did her feelings for Wynter show? Was she begining to loose control?
Nynx looked at the sky. The sky was covered with dark clouds. She could sense rain coming. She returned her gaze to the black femora. She was itching to scan the femora's brain. However, she knew that scanning someone's brain without knowing them was fairly rude. She's already screwed up enough today.

"I owe my life to all of your pack, Lucid," the black wolf woofed seriously, pushing his paw forward so he could duck as low as possible to the ground with his head. His bold, navy eyes stared up proudly at Lucid. Omega... It would be suiting enough for now, he still had his mate. Now there was one thing left to do- find a way to tell him about his eatting habits. He wasn't going to do it now, certainly. He lifted himself from his spot, and sat down, wagging his tail slightly in a content matter.
Lucid told him not to betray him. He couldn't possibly think of doing that. He couldn't imagine doing any harm to anything of Nynx's. His heart pounded nicely in his chest, not racing like it seemed to be doing before. His ear flicked, and he glanced at his lovely neon-marked angel. "If I ever dip low of your standards," he directed more or less to Lucid as he watched her, although it wasn't completely focusing on him as he spoke to Nynx too, "then it would only be right..."
He watched his beloved fae tromp off, and his tail swished, and he sat down.
