Bhrin's little golden head popped up from beside her mothers stomach, and her purple eyes looked around eagerly. The sky was still dark, and her small ears heard the sounds of crickets chirping and frogs croaking. She stood and stretched, her pink tongue curling up in her open mouth with her tail up over her back. Bhrin stood, and tip toed quietly behind her mothers sleeping form and towards the mouth of the cave.
Her claws scrabbled on the slippery walkway and she looked back to make sure she hadn't woke anyone, before she slipped out into the night air. Bhrin giggled with excitement. This was the first time she had snuck out, and it was so invigorating. She broke into a run, her wings close to her body so she would go even faster. She came to her destination, the top of the waterfall, where the river flowed quickly down the cliff with a roaring sound.
She lapped at the water slowly and reveled in the cool crispness. Her ears twitch back and forth to hear any sounds of coming wolves she might have awoken with her early romp, she sat down on the soft dirt.
She lifted her nose into the air and breathed in the forest and water smells that she recognized so fondly. The smell of her pack, and her parents was strong here and she couldn't breathe in enough.
Bhrin almost felt like she had been gone for a long time, and now, this was her awakening, her realization that this was her home and this is where she belonged, and she never wanted to leave again.
