The night was still and undisturbed, until a blaze of black shifted uneasily as it tried to maintain a steady flight. A crow, at first glance. In all reality this crow was anything but a bird. It flew as awkwardly as a newborn, while its eyes darted over the land, watching with all seriousness. This crows name was Arson, a wolf by true form, with the ability to shift into one at a moments notice. The bird glided low, it felt as if he was close to a border. Arson was many things, but a good pilot was not one of them. The dark bird gave a shriek that rung through the air like a bullet as he met with a tree. A satisfactory thump greeted the forest as he came plummeting down to the hard earth that lay beneath.
The bird shook itself violently and began to pluck at feathers as it listened for any sort of activity. Arson was uneasy about turning back into his true form when he was traveling, it was dangerous for him, and he had to conserve his ability, unless the worst should happen. So the crow grave a last shake and took a small flight to a nearby log. Here he could wait, and watch for whatever might come to see him. Although he didn't care to admit it, he hoped desperately that wolves would have a claim to these lands. He had traveled too far not to find a place to settle, and others to settle with. It wasn't long before the bird worked up its courage and took a small flight once more, landing on the soft ground this time. He listened, something was nearby, he heard the sound of water crashing on rock, maybe he could go get a drink.. no. The bird stood and awaited what was to come once more. More than once he swore he could hear movement, and more than once he gave a bird-like shriek, wondering if any wolf would really bother to investigate his coming, but Arson could wait, and if all went as he hoped, it would be worth it before the end. It was another moments hesitation that gave him the idea to turn into a wolf once more, though he was sure anyone who cared he was there would have seen him as a crow, but now he could actually carry out a conversation normally. "Hello..?" Arson called quietly, and waited for a response.
