Descant moved through the vines and trees quickly. Even when she stopped she bounced from paw to paw. She couldn’t stop moving, fearing if she stopped she wouldn’t start again. Days of traveling had left her exhausted. She panted, feeling hot under her thick fur. A fresh scar on her face still stung, but she ignored it. A few hours earlier she had smelt the presence of a pack. Ever since Descant had been in a state of disorientation, her mind was racing from conflicting views. The only experience she had had with wolf packs was her own, and that left her with terrible memories of harsh hierarchy and being outcasted. But on the other hand, the prospect of no longer being alone was tempting, even with her fears. Descant had been alone for only a short time, but being on her own was already starting to take effect. She knew that if she lost a chance to find a home, she would regret it. Descant started to consider ways to introduce herself to the pack. She could light up her pelt, but glowing attracted too much attention and she didn’t want to seem like a show off. Maybe she could find a subordinate member of the pack who could tell her if she was welcome or not. After considering all the options, simply walking in seemed like the best option for her. She had a good chance of running away if things got hostile. Taking a deep breath, Descant walked into the territory of the wolf pack.
