The moon shone bright in the sky, reflecting off small rivers and ponds upon the ground. The ponds were still, reflecting the moon like a mirror. It shone upon the remaining leaves, turning them silver. There was no movement, not even small bugs rustled the leaves below. Even the wind seemed to be taking a break. Then a sudden shadow flew across the moon, disturbing the the peace. This odd object was almost as black as the night and strange symbols glowed on it's body. This thing, flew with silence, it's wings sliced the open air. The creature circled the icy pond, slowly getting closer to the ground.
The flying object was a wolf, a brute at that. The male wolf landed gracefully, despite his size. He padded over to the pond, each paw step was silent, like he was floating over the ground. He bent his head down to lap the cold water from the pond. His tongue created ripples which distorted the moons' reflection. Snap! Something stirred in the woods. The brute raised his head and ears perked in alarm. 'It was so silent before.' he thought.
He kept looking in the direction, just in case if something walked out from the undergrowth. After a few more minutes the brute lowered his alarm and went back to lapping from the pool. Once he was done, he raised his large head and drank in the scents of the forest around him. The scent of wolf was in the air, and it was strong to. 'I must be near a pack.' he thought. 'I wonder if I could join them, I've been looking for a pack to join?'

V A N Y A Vanya sat quietly at the higher part of the camp, which was coincidentally rather near her own den. She sighed in delight as the cold breeze blew gently against her pelt, making her relax. It was a beautiful night; the moon shone bright in the sky above her despite the chilling temperatures outside and only a few sounds could be heard around. Most of the pack was already resting comfortably in their dens, seeing as it was rather late already. Still, she could hear the steps of some of her pack mates on the frozen ground every now and then. They probably were doing the last patrols before going to sleep.
Akai was already sound asleep in her den as well. He probably was sprawled all over the place, a habit he had taken ever since they joined the pack. Before that he would just curl up next to her. She assumed that it was because he had grown up a bit since that happened. It made her feel nostalgic in a way, and she couldn’t help but to compare the pup today to the little bundle she had picked up a few months ago. He still did come to her and curl up to her side sometimes though, as if he too missed the times when he was younger and more dependant of her. She felt accomplished at the same time though, because she was actually managing to do a rather good job in raising him.
This thought brought a smile to her face as she gazed at the beautiful moon above her. Many things had changed during the last few months. First she had passed from having a family, which consisted only of her brother after her actual family was wiped out, to be a loner. Then, by tricks of fate and destiny maybe, she had ended up taking care of a pup. Then her life as a loner had been forgotten has they had both joined a stable pack at last, and she was not only another pack member but the Alphess of said pack. Honestly, if she had been asked some months ago she would have laughed at the idea, but now here she was, taking care of her own pack.
As lost as she had been in though something made her snap out of it. The cause of it was a strange flying figure that crossed the dark sky. Normally she would not have paid attention to it because she was so distracted, but when it actually passed in front of the bright moon she just couldn’t miss it. Her ears perked up at this, green amber eyes following the mysterious shadow with a suspicious gaze as it advanced. When it landed not too far away from the dens she decided that she had to go check out what it was in order to asses whether it was a threat to the pack or not. She swiftly got up on her pawns then, and after shaking her fur to get rid of any lingering snow she was off. She was going in the direction where she had seen to strange figure land in the forest, though she wasn’t sure of its exact location.
She darted through the forest, her movements not hindered at all by the irregular terrain as she advanced, even if it was dark. She had already gotten used to it after all, and now her steps when confident and smooth as if she had always walked there. After a while she was certain that whatever had landed in her forest was near. She couldn’t be wrong, she had made an estimation as to where it could be now and she was sure it wasn’t to far away. She stopped for a moment then, both her ears and tail were up in the air as she took in her surroundings, looking for anything that could indicate that someone was nearby. She sniffed the air for a moment, and soon enough a particular scent caught her attention. She identified it immediately: it was another wolf.
Ah, so that was it, it wasn’t ‘a mysterious thing’ that had entered her lands, but rather another wolf. Judging by the way she had seen it glide in sky before she assumed it must a winged one. Anyway, she had to find the stranger now, though she assumed that wouldn’t be to difficult seeing as she just had to follow his trail. She moved carefully through the woods, her stealth comparable to that of any feline as her steps where totally silent against the cold ground. She didn’t utter a sound as she moved, even her breathing seemed to have subdued a bit in order to not give away her position.
As funny as it was sometimes she couldn’t have swore that she was born to sneak around. She had already scared the hell out of her pack mates a few times when she appeared out of nowhere at their back or besides them. They couldn’t notice her until she was there unless she actually wanted them to know she was there. This thought made her smirked with a rather silly feeling of pride at her “ability”, or however it should be called.
Soon enough she saw a rather tall figure in the distance. It stood by a small pond and the moonlight illuminated it with its bright shine, giving it away for any onlooker. As she kept approaching in complete silence she could tell that it was indeed a wolf, a brute at that. He was tall, and a set of large wings adorned his back. She examined him with critical eyes as she kept approaching, but unfortunately this made her loose her concentration on her footing and soon she step on a small branch that laid in the ground and a loud snap echoed through the wood. ‘Crap!’ She saw the brute raise his head in alarm at the sound. She couldn’t move, or else she would be seen and the fun would be over. She recurred to her other option then: laid flat on the ground, blending in with the darkness of the night.
This seemed to work, seeing as the brute relaxed again after a moment and returned to his previous activities. Seeing this, Vanya decided to keep moving forwards, getting closer and closer. When she decided she was close enough she stopped and sat down on her haunches gracefully. The soft moonlight illuminated her face slightly now, and se could see him clearly as well. She kept silent for a moment, but it didn’t last too long. She cleared her throat once, making sure that it was loud enough for the male to notice her presence. She tend proceeded to greet him, her piercing gaze on him. “Greetings brute”, she said calmly, not wanting to break the serenity of the night. “I am Vanya, Alphess of these lands … And who might you be?”, her voice smooth and gentle, yet it held a firm and unwavering tone to it.
OOC - Lol, sorry for the crazy lenght, I kind of got carried away e.e

Night raised his head, satisfied by the cold water. He flicked his ears forward and scanned the woods surrounding him; there was no one in sight. The brute shifted his weight on his paws. 'Maybe if I howl...?' he queired himself. He thought for a moment. 'Nah,' he finally decided slighty shaking his head. 'A wolf was bound to see me if the scent of a large pack is this close.' As almost on que, a wolf padded otu from behind the shadows. Night turned his head and examined the wolf. The unknown wolf was a fae with various shades of grey, and stunning green eyes. Just by looking at her Night could tell that this femme had some sort of high authority within a pack.
She was the first to speak. “Greetings brute”, she said calmly. “I am Vanya, Alphess of these lands … And who might you be?” Night gave a small smirk, he was right. This femme, now known as Vanya, does hold high rankings. The brute dipped his head in greetings. "I am Night of no Stars, or better known as Night." his voice was kind of deep and sounded like Rex from "We're Back! A Dinosuars' Story."
The brute looked at Vanya, she was a stunning wolf. Night blushed a little and let out a small smile. 'But what if she has a mate?' he questioned himself. He stood still and took in a deep breath, scents of the forest and other wolves flooded his nose, but he picked out the femme's smell from all the others. It came to a simple conclusion; Vanya did not have a partner.
OOC: Haha!! I loved how I described his voice xD and yeah I know...crappy post D:

V A N Y A The young femme listened with interest as the brute in front of her introduced himself. She didn’t miss the respectful gesture with his head before he did so, nor did she miss the polite tone in his voice, which was well appreciated. She nodded in acknowledgement as he mentioned his name, though she didn’t move from her sitting position. Her expression was calm; she didn’t seem to be wary of this brute, as anyone would be after encountering a complete stranger in the middle of the night. Though if one was to think about it she had nothing to fear, and she was well aware of it. These were her lands after all, so if there was someone that could potentially have a reason to be afraid it was him. Though when you compared the size difference between the both of them that thought seemed a bit ridiculous. Oh but Vanya was not someone to be underestimated, she may have been small and delicate-looking, but if this male tried anything she was confident enough that she would be able to subdue him quickly. She did hope that that wasn’t needed though, for it would just ruin the serene atmosphere that was typical of the forest at night. The silence, the peace, she enjoyed it all.
She was convinced that nothing of that sort would be needed after listening to what he had to say though. His voice didn’t indicate any aggression or mischief, nor did his expression or his gestures. It did seem that she had stumbled upon a rather nice wolf this time, and she was glad for it. But then she noticed a subtle change in his behavior; had he just blushed? Or maybe it was just her imagination … In any case he did seem a bit more self-conscious out of nowhere. She would have chuckled at this, but she refrained, it would have seen disrespectful to the stranger. She instead smirked slightly: she had no idea she had that effect on others, especially when she was just coping with her duties. She quickly regained her composure though, not wanting to look out of place.
She just waited a moment after he finished what he had to say before replying, her expression calm and pleasant, as if nothing had happened just a second before. “Ah, Night it is then. Welcome to the Toko Forest pack lands”, she said in a rather pleasant tone, a small smile plastered in her delicate face. She then remembered that she actually didn’t know anything about this brute besides his name, which was no good. He must have had a reason for coming here in the middle of the night after all, since anyone else would already have been asleep. She tilted her head curiously then, her light yellow-green eyes fixed on him as she spoke. “May I ask Night, was has brought you here? It is rather unusual to see a wolf traveling at this time, so I assume you must have a reason for doing so?”. It didn’t bother her in the least that he had decided to come, and she made sure that it was reflected in her voice. She was just curious, but more importantly, it was some information she needed to know in order to asses whether this wolf a threat to her pack or not. Her pack’s –her family’s- safety came before everything after all, and she would do anything to ensure it.
OOC - Omg, I actually managed to do a rather short post o.O lol Sorry for it's crappiness though, I had fallen asleep and woke up at like 1 am to finish it xD

There was a slight breeze that gently moved the leaves across the ground, creating a slight rustling noise. Night could feel the leaves moving beneath his paw pads. 'Wait! I've never been able to feel that before...weird.' Night glanced down at his paws, almost forgetting the the alphess of a pack was standing right in front of him. The brute quickly shot his head back up to look in Vanya's direction. She spoke in a pleasant tone. Night opened his mouth to thank her, but then he shut it as she continued. The last words that flowed out of the femmes mouth struck Night like a lightning bolt. A shiver went down his back and his hackles raised. 'The dreaded question.'[/color] he thought. He took a deep breathe, and calmed himself; he could feel his hackles lower. "Vanya, I'll tell you the truth, you won't be expecting any lies from me." Night took another deep breath and continued. "I come from The Yohamai Canyons, a very dreaded place." the brutes eyes filled with anger and sorrow. "My mother, Nyra, would steal pups with wings from innocent wolf families. She would do this thing called "moon blinking" to the pups. This would scatter their brains and make them easier to for her to control. She also had Lieutenants that would help out with this process. I never knew any of this was going on until I met Henri." Night's eyes almost had a glazed look to them, like he was remembering his horrible past. The brute continued on. "Henri showed me what was really going on; that my mother was stealing pups, moon blinking them, and even killing wolves that weren't pure bred. Nyra attempted to purify our lands by killing off all of the half-breeds. She was one you did not want to come across." Night flicked his ears and went on talking. "After Henri showed me what was happening and that my mother was corrupted; the both of us came up with an escape plan." "The plan was working until we reached the Shredders. The Shredders are extremely strong gusts of wind that can kill flying animals, or rip limbs off. I know it seemed dangerous...but it was our only way out. Unfortunately I went unconscious in the Shredders and I was flung back to the Yohamai Canyons." He paused for a few moments. "After that I woke up with my mother leaning over me, she said it was time for my Special Ceremony. Once again she had tempted me into believing her, simply because she told me that she loves me. For my Special Ceremony I would have to kill an animal and bring it back for my mother and I to eat. Who knew I would have to kill a wolf, and of all the wolves out there, my mother wanted me to kill my only friend, Henri. I refused to kill my only friend and my mother didn't take a liking to that too well. She flew at me raked one of her claws across my face, giving me this scar. Then Nyra was angered even more and blamed her anger on Henri. She then flew at Henri then plunged her teeth into his chest and ripped his heart out." Night shook his head vigorously to get the images out of his head. "After that I had to get out of there as fast as I could, so I flew. I didn't know which direction I was going, I just flew. So...now I'm here, hoping to find a new pack that's better than my old one, and I think I may have stumbled across one." Even though Night just spilled his unpleasant history, he was still able to squeeze out a smile for Vanya. Word count: 676 OOC: and most of those words are senseless babel about Night's history

V A N Y A
- - - - - - - - - - Vanya listened quietly to the brute as he spoke. It seemed to be hard for him, seeing as his voice seemed to falter every now and then, and he had to take breath to clam himself every time he started. She cast a sympathetic glance at him when this happened, her heart aching for him, for the story he was telling her was not a nice one. She knew what it was to suffer and what it was to be alone, so it was easy for her to imagine the turmoil that reviving such memories could have caused inside of him.
To tell the truth she had been rather surprised when instead of just limiting himself to answer her question, he had started to tell her about his life. Not many wolves were fond of revealing their history to strangers, and that included her. And yet here was this brute, whom she had just met a few minutes back, seemingly venting out his past on her as if they had know each other for years. She didn’t mind it though, maybe he just needed to let out the pain he had bottled up over the years, maybe he just needed some comfort. If anything she was glad that he felt comfortable enough around her to tell her this, after all she never forced him into doing, nor did she expect for it to happen.
Her ears slid back slightly as a particularly gruesome image crossed her mind as he told her of how his mother had murdered his best friend. ‘God, that’s harsh’. It may have been harsh, but it was by no means new to her. After all she had witnessed not only her parents death, but also Akai’s mother’s as well as that of many other wolves. She was just thankful that she hadn’t had to witness her brother’s death as well –because she was almost sure he was dead as well- for she knew that that would have broken her. And somehow none of those deaths had been pleasant at all, there was always blood, suffering and pain involved: a terrible thing indeed.
She shook all those thoughts out of her head though; it made her feel ill and uneasy. Instead, she decided to keep her cool, though Night’s history truly saddened: she just didn’t understand why was it that everyone had to suffer so much. When he seemed to have finally finished she saw him smile at her. She returned the gesture, casting a small, condescending smile his way. “Night … I am very sorry to hear that, it must have been very hard on you”, her voice was soft, as if she was accompanying him in the mourning that those memories probably brought to his mind, as if she was trying to comfort him even in a small way. “I must also thank you for confiding this on me, not many would have bothered … I really appreciate it”. It was the truth. After all, not many wolves were willing to talk so openly about their lives, especially when such a hard past weighted down on them. She was one of those: had she been in Night’s position she would have probably limited herself to answer what she was asked, keeping the subject of her past as far away as possible.
The fact that he thought so highly of her pack brought a smile to her face, a genuine one. It was nice to hear an outside have such thoughts about her pack after all, that must mean she was doing a decent job putting it all together after the absence of the previous Alphas. She would reflect on that later though, once she had dealt with this perhaps.
“I understand you are seeking for a home then … You are very welcome to stay and join us Night, if that is what you really want”, she said while giving him a pleasant look. She turned her gaze to the sky for a second then, just to have a vague idea of what time it was by looking at the moon’s position. Her light yellow-green eyes were soon enough on the brute again, the soft moonlight illuminating her lithe form slightly. “It is quite late, but I can still show you to the dens if you wish”, she said while getting up from her sitting position. “The others must be deep asleep already, so I’m sure they won’t mind”, a hint of humor was audible in last words. It just amused her how nothing would wake up some of her pack mates once they were asleep, it was as if they were soundproof or something. Now she just waited for his answer before proceeding to guide him to the dens. - - - - - - - - - -OOC - Sorry for the delay x.x [/blockquote]
