-Armoured pads stepped across the earth, the body they 'support' was shaking violently. Her rear was sore, as where her hind legs and that was the worst of it. Her entire limbs felt that to be torn off and then shredded would be less pain that what they felt. She had been running. Running from her Alphess... Her previous Alphess, she had been banished. Forever and chased by what could be easily called a demon of hell herself. she was a fool and this fae was her victim of stupidity.-
The malachite shaded armour plates on the ears swivelled round as effortlessly as the faes movements themselves on a better day. The fae had been unable to sleep and despite the delightful cosiness of the earth and how easy the dark was to look through in the sense that being unable to see was no strain on ones vision, rest had not come to the armoured wolf without bringing forth the terrific nightmares of the last few days occurrence. Looking around at the grass, the flowers and listening the sounds of the falls a soft sigh escaped the masked and plated wolf. She felt like this place was her home. Even though it didn’t quite feel it yet. Something was amiss. And she was restless. She made her way across the jagged rocks, her steps nimble and sure as she crossed them harmlessly before making a small jump onto the grass where she’d first climbed out of the water. She felt a flashback of her dream, the dream that cut short moments before she went out cold, before she met Keith and her mate, Haven. She signed before slowly lowering herself to the ground. Tenderly. Easing her side to try and avoid the pain it would no doubt make worse than it already was. She fell to the floor, now her belly was getting muddy and her jaw rested in the earth, little blades of grass tickling her nose but to no attention of the wolf. A mane of a purple fringe covered her eyes in a big poofiness and her body moved slowly with the pained breathing.
The fae was alone again. It was chilly but the light was out. She hadn’t seen anyone about and so looked up at the sky for the first time. It was bright. Had she managed to sleep through the night after all? Or was it that her dreams had given her such a sleepless night that it felt as though no time had passed to regain the needed stamina from the time before. All she new was that it was daytime once more and she had probably slept in without getting any benefits at all. Her mind wondered to her family at home before the pain of the memories pushed her thoughts swiftly to the future. She had met two wolves of this pack and would sleep outside until a proper approval. But down here, away from her night time rocky outcrop near the top of the falls, she would move to during the day. So it was that it was hear the fae resided.
She sighed were she lay and look around her, wondering what she would do and who she might meet today. Hopefully not someone who would try to run rings around her. Unless in water she simply didn’t have the energy. Her tail rose before flopping down to the earth idly as she closed her eyes and allowed her mind to wonder. This suited her just fine until the need for awareness arrived.

Snippet was tracking a scent.
Or rather, her power was tracking a scent. Snippet’s healing ability had activated rather abruptly a few minutes ago and she was trying to figure out why. It had never done this before- her whole body was tingling with the need to heal, but there was no one around who was hurt. Snip still didn’t know too much about her ability, but thought that perhaps there was a wolf nearby who was so badly hurt that Snip could detect it even from the den and her healing power wouldn’t let that wolf stay unhelped. So Snip made her way out of the den, her eyes half-closed as she concentrated on following the feeling of need.
Once she was out of the den, though, she didn’t know where to go. Snip sat down by the waterfall in confusion. The wolf was nearby, she instinctively knew that, but where exactly? The scent of the water and of the Fukai den covered up any single wolf scent in the immediate area. The little pup looked around and then sighed. Life could be confusing sometimes. She closed her eyes, hoping to catch the scent better if she wasn’t distracted by looking at things.
As it happened, she didn’t get to open her eyes again. As if it had been waiting for just such an opportunity, one of her past selves surged forward and seized control of the pup’s mind. She could tell that it was just trying to help, bother her and the hurt wolf, so she sat back and let it happen. In a trance of sorts, her body rose and trotted off, sure now of its direction. She knew exactly where she was going- or rather, her past self did, and was determined to guide the young pup where she needed to be.
Soon, her body stopped and Snippet was returned full control. She looked around cautiously to take stock of where she was. She seemed to be near to the den still, but the air stank of fear. She looked for the source, whimpering a little in instinctual response. There- in the grass. A green body, plated with strange green shapes like some sort of armor. She- the wolf was a she- looked scary. Snip crouched down, trying not to be noticed by the scary wolf.
She was scary…but she was also hurting. Snip could feel it coming off of her in waves- pain, fear, exhaustion. The little pup frowned. She hated to see anyone in pain, it was bad, but she was afraid of the strange green wolf. But she looked so tired…Snip crept forward on her belly. The green wolf didn’t twitch. Maybe she wouldn’t be able to catch Snip. It didn’t matter how scary she was if she was too tire to move…
Deciding to take the risk, Snip approached the wolf carefully. When she was in reach of the very tip of her tail, she crouched and set her nose against it. Her body warmed up and her nose glowed softly, sending energy and a release from pain to the green wolf. When the pain and tiredness were gone, there was still something else wrong, something Snip could fix, but Papa Tide warned Snip not to give anything more than some energy without permission. Snippet sat back and watched the green wolf carefully, to see how her efforts would be accepted.
”Are you okay?” she asked softly.

After a short period it became apparent to this fae that she was no longer by her lonesome. In fact the more she stopped her thoughts to listen the more she smiled as the sound of tiny pattering pads and underbelly shuffled its way through the grass that was starting to grow. Eyes opened, misty grey and through an infrequent curtain of purple mane they looked out lazily at the area that surrounded her. Low in the ground the grass obscured some of this fae’s vision but it didn’t matter. Her eyes slowly fell upon the unavoidable silky fur that glistened like mist as the little scamp was skulking its way towards her. Unsure whether this little one was attempting to hide and make a sneak move for just stay outta site completely Shoe did not know. So she snickered softly to herself and decided to play along. Pup? What pup?
She let her eyelids fall, just enough to look closed but giving her a small slit to see from, her smile broadened a little but remained hidden by her mane and her paw that resided on either side of her jaws. Her gaze idly followed the pup, the little lady seemed quite intent now on avoiding notice and this was a charade Shoe would happily humour. Then something unexpected happened. Her ears rose. They only did so by a trace amount but this was due to a mild surprise. A slight wetness had just touched itself to the fins of her tail. She assumed it had to be this little pup, but to what purpose? Suddenly, her cold body began to soothe, it was suddenly like being beside a little fire. This pup was warm… Either that or some volcanic rock had just been pushed over to her to create a similar thermal effect. That seemed unlikely. The only feeling now rolling over Shoe was the warmth and the feeling that her body was starting to feel so much better. All but one part… but that seemed unlikely to improve.
She remained purposefully oblivious until finally, what had clocked on as this Healer, stepped back. She seemed timid and this became apparent as her little voice spoke out.
‘ “Are you okay?” ’
So concerned at such a tender age, whoever this pups parents were they were doing a damned good job with raising there little scamp. Even if she shouldn’t be out alone, who knows who she might’ve run into. Show smiled with fondness at the idea of this little pup before deciding to finally make some form of introduction. She rose her head now, slowly so as to give this timid thing a chance to back away. She would make no threatening move to one so endearing, nor would she give a trapping feel about herself. This little femme was free to do as she pleased. So with a slight toss of her head Shoe flicked her fringe as best she could to allow the two to see eye to eye. It fell to one side successfully but gave Shoe a one-sided fringe that covered a half of her face, eye included, the more light and piercing of the two. The brownish-grey eye that was now able to see fully looked down at the pup. A smile crossed the fae’s maw. It was fun but it’s façade, alongside the misty coloured eye bore only kindness.
“Heheh. Yeah kid, just about. My side is kicking itself to hells and back but you really mustn’t worry about that. Come closer if you like, I reckon you could beat me up if you needed to.”
The fae tensed her muscles, still somewhat knotted she flexed and re-flexed them under her plates to try and get rid of the aches. The pain though, all but across her side, was completely gone. Shoe smiled very kindly with her next string of words, she wanted the timid little thing not to fear her, she was after all harmless and she genuinely liked this little fae. Her fringe fell again, once more masking her eye but the smile remained, and it was hopefully reassuring as the mermaids tail wagged a little behind her.
“So… you‘re a healer then? When did a little one like you get so strong? I gotta say scamp, I‘m impressed.”

Snippet watched the strange green wolf cautiously once she was done with the healing. A fringe of green fur fell into her eyes, masking them. Her tail was strange- it looked like it belonged to one of the fish Snippet liked to pounce on in the river. And then there were those plates on her. Like armor. Armor that grew out of her skin. Only a fighter wolf would need armor. A fighter like the wolves in the scary place Snip’s family lived before she lost them. Snippet eyed the green wolf with increasing suspicion. This was a scary wolf.
The scary wolf lifted her head suddenly and Snip let out a frightened squeak and jumped back. She crouched, looking up at the adult wolf. Her tail swished uncertainly. Muscles tensed under her dark, glossy fur in preparation for a quick escape if the wolf did something unexpected. Her belly touched the ground with her low stance. The wolf looked over at her and Snip flinched. She moved her head suddenly and Snip ducked, but she was only clearing her eyes from the floppy mane that fell in front of it. Snip averted her eyes, instead looking at the strange wolf’s cheek- eye contact was rude and could be seen as a challenge, which the pup wanted to avoid at all costs.
Shyly, Snippet looked at the wolf’s face out of the corners of her golden eyes. The adult’s grey-brown eye (the one she could see) looked kind, and oddly out-of-place in her fierce body. The adult smiled and it took away some of the scariness, but confused the pup. A warrior, in her experience, was never nice. The fact that this one wasn’t growling confounded her mind. Of course, her experience was extremely limited, but with the strange wisdom of childhood she couldn’t see the lack in her knowledge. She blinked, startled, when the wolf spoke. Her voice was rough and low, but friendly and kind. Snip’s ears pricked forward to listen. The kindness in the wolf’s voice relaxed her, easing the tension and allowing her to sit up a bit, and with more comfort. She smiled faintly at being called ‘scamp’. Her Papa Tide called her that sometimes, when she pounced on him to wake him up in the mornings. Perhaps she was not so mean, if she was like her Papa. Because her Papa was the best wolf ever.
She didn’t know what ‘to hells and back’ meant, but thought it might have something to do with the healing Snip had to leave undone. She couldn’t see the wolf’s side, so she couldn’t tell. She didn’t move closer but didn’t back away either. ”Oh, no, ma'am, I dont think I could beat you up." Her eyes were wide. "I'm little even for a puppy. And I don’t know how I got strong, ma’am,” she said politely. ”It just kind of happens.” She paused for a moment, and then crept a bit closer to the strange wolf. ”I’m Snippet. I live here.” Her tail wagged just a little bit. ”Who are you, ma’am?”

Shoe was happier now to have met this little scamp. She was somehow making everything seem better, her newfound cheerfulness was very contagious and Shoe was smiling very much by now. Her tail began to wag a little and though this was kept to a minimum so as not to alarm the kid it was making a fair show none the less.
“Hehe, well you may be little but I’m not that huge, I’m not much of a fighter anyways either =] oh please, there‘s no need at all to call me ma‘am. The name‘s Shoe, I‘ve just arrived, last night was my first in these lands and I‘ve only met Keith and her mate Haven.. It sure is beautiful here huh.”
It made Shoe happier to have someone to talk to where the words just flowed. It was easy to talk to this little Skitterfoot and she was relieved that the nervous air she had brought with her seemed to be easing now. The pup had even moved a little now so that she was seated more for comfort than for launching a sudden getaway. Even the attentive ears seemed relaxed and when a minute smile came over the pups jaws this sent Shoe grinning all over again. Marvelling at this beautiful kid before her, her eyes scanning and rescanning over her, fondness growing with every second she just knew that this wolf was amazing. Shoe thought of home and of the life and the future she had given up. But with a pup like this around the falls she decided that she would be more then ecstatic to make a new life here. And somehow, this little Skitterfoot would be a big part of it.
“You know, I came from a land far far away. I can tell you that much because the run here was damned murder. Sorry. It was much wetter though. The borders went out for miles, huge lakes and rivers and the tiny ponds and streams were all around me. I guess that‘s why I have such an affinity.. A closeness to the water. I‘ve always wanted to swim, much more than any other wolf. I guess that’s why I have these platelets.. Apparently they came form a great grandmother of mine. … Hey, You sure your mum and dad would mind you talking to strange wolves? I wouldn‘t wanna get you in trouble ya know.”
Shoe shifted slightly before grimacing as a shock of pain thundered across her scaring, torn up side causing her to sigh with a smile and return to her previous position, providing of course that. Snippet. Would not catch sight of what was now branded upon her side. Her smile broadened as she‘d tried to hide the pain following its latest onslaught but somehow she figured she hadn‘t succeeded. This kid was sharp.

Not much of a fighter? Snip was confused. Then again, most of her life she was confused, so that really wasn’t anything new. But she was more confused at the moment. This wolf clearly had armor! Armor, in Snippet’s mind, was closely linked to fighting. Maybe that’s what she meant by not much of a fighter. Maybe she didn’t like fighting but she could if she wanted to. Or she only fought sometimes. The thought that the wolf might not like fighting eased Snip’s mind a bit more. She allowed her tail to wave just a little. At the notion that she could beat up this wolf, she chuckled deep in her throat, where it couldn’t be heard. Even a sometimes fighter could beat a puppy. That was just silliness. Was the adult silly? Snippet liked silly adults. They were fun. She scooted closer to the green female, but stayed just out of reach. Her ears were pricked forward and her tail wagged noticeably now. ”No ma’am, you’re not huge but you’re lots bigger than me.”
Snip wrinkled her nose and looked up at Shoe, as she now knew her to be. With irrefutable puppy logic, she said ”That’s a silly name. If you’re going to tell me a silly made-up name I get to name you myself.” She rolled over on to her back and looked at Shoe upside-down, taking in her greenness and the plates on her back. ”Let's see...you're green and you have armor and you're not as scary as you look....I'm going to call you Turtle,” she said decisively, thinking of the round green things that had shells like Turtle’s plates. She liked to trap them under her paws and watch as they tried to get away. It was fun.
Snippet rolled back upright and nodded fervently. ”It’s very beautiful here. I think it’s better than where I came from…but I don’t really remember much.” She shrugged. ”I came from far away like you. It wasn’t a very nice place to be. I like it here better.” Snip realized that Turtle was staring at her. She blushed and ducked her head, hiding her nose under one oversized paw. From that position, she mumbled, ”I don’t have a mum and dad, just Papa Tide. He adopted me. And I didn’t mean to come out on my own. I got taken over.”
A wave of pain washed over Turtle; Snip could feel it distantly, in the same part of her mind that let her heal. Snip jumped up and trotted over without thinking, coming into full contact range for the first time. She nosed Turtle’s neck worriedly. ”What happened? Is it something I can heal?”

The fae was quiet for awhile as she watched the fantastic performance of emotions that made show on the pups face. She was clearly thinking a very long trail of thought that seemed to be provoking many little strands of sub thought, all of which were clearly perplexing as the expressions would leap from one to the other in moments. The little fae finally seemed to be mulling over approval when she chose to comment on Shoe’s size. To this there was no response as Shoe was still mesmerized and smiling all the more due to this little Snippet that was bubbling before her. Her ears only rose a little as did one eyebrow at the notion of a made up name, but it was not angry more of a mild surprise. Letting the kid babble on, the smile grew. It was, in fact massive by time the pup was now asking about her new pain and the grin couldn’t be contained.
“hehehe, well come one now you, cut me a break. If I was gonna make up a name for myself dontcha think it would have more class?? And as for you getting to name me ‘Turtle’ well. I see that mischief in your eyes and I dunno what your planning’. I may just be scarier than I look, but it just so happens that I like you a lot so you don’t have to worry. If you ever see me scary it will be in your defence. And as punishment for such a shocking accusation upon my lack scariness I‘m gonna give you your own silly nickname too.”
Shoe licked her maw before grinning down at the pup and proceeding to stick out her tongue. She liked the nickname and didn‘t want the kid to think otherwise but she would however share the same fate.
“Skitterfoot. Cause you’re a jumpy little scamp with cutest paws I’ve ever seen!
…And you’re right. It’s stunning out here. There’s not as much water as what I’m used to but I reckon I could get used to it. As long as I can still go swimmin’. ‘Papa Tide’? Now he sounds stunning in his own right. I should very much love to meet this bloke at some point, a male that took on and is raising one as adorable as you must be pretty rockin’”
The armoured fae’s mind had crossed on to what this male might look like, probably gorgeous and very very kind. Well he would be fun to meet. Shoe looked at the pup again and her ears shot up to see that her timid little Skitterfoot was now right up close. This kid must have a radar for pain or somethin’ just as nutty. Well that didn’t matter it was all the more perfect. Shoe was smiling again adoringly. Turtle indeed. Her grin grew more happily sceptical and she reached out a paw and began to tickle the little pup reassuringly.
“Hey. Skitterfoot. Dontcha go worrying over me, ‘sides. I think this is something I’d best keep outta your vocabulary. Your Papa Tide might get mad at me for teaching you such things, and we wouldn‘t want him at mad at me, right?.”
Not yet ready to laugh as an idea hit her Shoe smiled as she tickled at the little fae before grinning wider, teeth still hidden, but with enough playfulness to tell the pup she was in trouble. She bent her head and licked Snippet right across her head then giving her the space to run screaming if she really wanted though she hoped she wouldn‘t. Or would at least to so as was apparent to her nature but then return at least.. Maybe looking grumpy. Shoe smiled at this idea and hopped this Skitterfoot would see it as the good natured gesture it was. She waited then, sat upright like a sphinx, her tail wagging idly to and fro as she watched the pup before a calm smile crossed her lips. She lifted her paw then so that, if she wanted, the pup could sneak closer again and nestle down safely by the armoured wolf. After all this kid was alone out here and while the forest was pretty much only rabbit infested, those trees could hide many things and Show would keep this kid safe before returning her home.
[OOC - Hope you don‘t mind me tickling and licking, just following the mini-rp but if you want it changed just say ^^ also I‘ll let Echo know she can bring in Riptide after your post if you like xxx]

Snippet watched Turtle carefully for any signs of her pain coming back. The little healer could sense it hiding in her new friend, just below open awareness, but she hadn’t been expressly given permission to heal so she wasn’t allowed. She wanted to, but that was mostly because she didn’t like seeing anyone in pain, and her healing powers were slightly activated by the presence of pain. It was like an itch, under her fur where she couldn’t scratch it. However, she could ignore it, ad out of respect for her elders she did just that.
Turtle’s constant attention was starting to make Snip just a bit uncomfortable. The little pup was more used to shadows and fringes than spotlights. Direct attention made her feel squirmy inside and she usually found a convenient place to hide. She couldn’t do that now, however, so she had to stick it out under Turtle’s gaze. At least she was smiling.
Snip’s eyes widened with the green fae’s little outburst. She hadn’t meant to be rude by giving her a new name- was that not an okay thing to do? Had she angered the wolf? Snip’s ears dropped to half-mast with uncertainty. Had she done something wrong? She was just being silly, she didn’t mean any harm. And the fae was still smiling…but was saying she was scarier than she looked! And she looked pretty darn scary! Snip’s ears flattened all the way. Why did adults have to be so confusing?
She almost flinched when Turtle stick her tongue out, but then she relaxed as she realized that Turtle wasn’t angry at all. She was just teasing- being silly, like Snippet liked to be silly. That was okay with Snip. She smiled a little at the bigger, older wolf. Even the nickname she got- Skitterfoot- was…a little strange, but wasn’t bad. She’d never heard the word ‘skittish’ in her life, and so was unaware how well the name fit her, but she wasn’t opposed to it. Even if she was, she wouldn’t have said anything. Adults could do what they liked to pups; that was the way the hierarchy worked. she was just lucky it wasn’t a bad name.
As Turtle expounded on the beauty of the landscape, Snip took her attention off of the older wolf for the first time to look around at the surrounding forest and stream. It was essentially a sign of trust- she trusted the older wolf not to attack or do anything to her while her head was turned. She only looked back at the mention of her Papa. ”I’m not sure what ‘rockin’ is, Turtle, but my Papa is very nice. He saved my life.” She nodded, somewhat absentmindedly.
When Turtle raised her paw, Snip hopped back a bit but didn’t scoot completely away. She watched Turtle reach over to her curiously, her gaze following the paw as it got closer and closer, eventually nudging her side. She made a small noise of surprise, which turned into a giggle as Turtle started to tickle the pup. She squirmed out of the way, grinning and giggling at Turtle. ”Stop it!” She squeaked in protest. Rolling out of the way, she looked up at Turtle and grinned, her tongue hanging out of her mouth.
She was about to answer Turtle’s latest words when the green fae suddenly darted forward and licked her across the head. Snippet scrambled backwards in surprise at the unexpected turn of events. She looked at Turtle with huge eyes. ”What was that for??”
Whatever the reason, it hadn’t been malevolent, and so when Turtle raised her paw to Snip, the pup came over willingly and nestled against the wolf’s green plates. Surrounded as she was by Turtle’s scent, she didn’t detect a very familiar one starting to be noticeable in the trees nearby…
OOC: I left a space there for Tide to come in. =)

For the first moment Shoe looked taken aback. She knew this pup was the frightful sort but was she really so sure that she would be able to offend Shoe? A fae that was probably feeling far more maternal than she would even come to realise what this feeling was that went beyond adoration for this pup. Her own ears lowered as did the pups and she suddenly felt very aware of her tongue before she withdrew it into her maw. As ‘Turtle’ gauged the reaction to her newly given name to see how it would be received her brow furrowed in apprehension before she grinned once more at the confused but accepting expression that was painted over her ‘Skitterfott’’s face. This confusion only further put forth with the questioning of the armoured fae’s varied word choice. So Shoe lowered her head to the grass once more and sniggered before turning her head a little to the side before explaining herself.
“ ‘rockin’’ is a weird way of calling someone awesome or great. And if your Papa tide is amazing enough to have saved your life! Well he is defiantly one bi-.. Rockin’ wolf”
Shoe eyes Snippet carefully as she went to tickle her, she seemed scared at first so Shoe was careful to try and look reassuring before her little claws that would just break through between her armour platelets made their contact and softly tickled the little pup before her. Her Skitterfoot seemed anxious before it was gone as soon as it had come and the kid was now giggling.
“Oh, OH!? So my little Skitterfoot is ticklish is she? Oh well that‘s gonna be trouble for you sweetheart heheh.”
She pulled away in answer to the pup’s request, a massive and loving grin widespread across her maw. She didn’t wanna scare her but the lick was unavoidable. Laughing softly at the reaction but eyes full of concern and reassurance it was hopefully clear to the pup that Shoe was not mean at all. In fact she was slightly embarrassed as this kid came back to her, so willingly as if.. Maybe she felt safe with her?? Shoe? Shoe the ’WHORE’? All red in the cheeks Shoe was smiling so much now that she instinctively lowered her paws to either side of her Skitterfoot, not blocking a way out but just to offer small walls of protection that were her armour plated fore limbs. She settled herself and her tail wagged idly as she smiled down at Snippet. So happy and unbeknown to Shoe was the mothering feel that went unrecognised, the fae failed also to catch the new scent. The scent that was partly imprinted on the pup, the scent that was blowing from the pack lands and was now stronger than was possible coming from Snippet alone.

"Now where could have my little Snippet run off to?" Riptide questioned himself. He sighed then looked at the ground. "Sometimes those past lives of Snip sure can be bothersome." he continued. The brute lifted his coloorful head and gazed at the bright blue sky. 'It's such a beautiful day out,' he thought. 'Sunny days always make me feel like I'm on top of the world.' Tide smiled at this thought, but it didn't last for long. He still had to find little Snippet.
After a few more minutes of attempted searching, Tide finally found Snip's scent trail. 'I wonder where her past lives have led her now?' he thought. He kept his head close to the ground so he could follow her scent trail easier. 'Her scent is getting stronger, she must be near by. I hope nothing happened to her.'
After a few more meters, Snippets sent was strong and it was entwined with a scent of another wolf. Tide couldn't recognize this new wolf's scent, so he decided to move swiftly for the next couple of yards. He came upon a perfect hiding spot behind a bush. He peered out from behind the undergrowth, trying not to make too much noise.
He saw a green wolf, with what seemed to be scales, covering most of her body. She a serpent-like tail too. He looked a little more to the right and saw his daughter sitting next to the mysterious wolf. 'Knowing my little Snip, she has probably helped that wolf.'
Since everything seemed to be calm, Riptide stepped out from his hiding spot. He took one more glance at the green wolf, then looked at Snip. "Snippet! I've been looking for you." Tide coulsn't keep the smile off his face. He padded over towards Snippet and sat next to her. He looked down Snip. "Are you okay, Snip?" he asked. Even though he knows about Snip's powers and what they do to her, he always asks about her well-being.
Riptide looked over at the green wolf. "Hello," he said with a smile. "my name is Riptide, and welcome to Fukai Waterfall packlands. I see Snippet here has already helped you?"

Snippet was quietly drowsing under Turtle’s legs when Riptide appeared on the scene. The armored wolf was warm, and obviously protecting the pup. Snippet felt safe enclosed by her strong legs. And, though her mind perhaps was older than her body, she was still a puppy. Warmth and a full belly from last night’s dinner, combined with the partial healing Snip had just done and simply being out and about, acted on the little wolfling to make her sleepy. She leaned against Turtle’s legs and blinked slowly, trying to keep her eyes from shutting against her will. It didn’t work for long and soon she was quietly napping against Turtle’s side.
Her beloved Papa’s strong scent, however, woke her once he got close. She opened her eyes and looked around for him, a big, happy smile on her face. Her papa was here! She sat up, her tail wagging so hard her whole body wiggled with it. She couldn’t see him but she could smell him, so she waited like a good little pup for him to appear.
When he did, it was all she could do not to jump up and run over to him. She didn’t want Turtle thinking she didn’t care about her anymore now that her papa was here; she liked the green wolf very much. Besides that, her legs were still a tad weak from her healing. So she waited for Papa Tide to come to her, like he always did. She watched him with bright golden eyes. There was a loving smile on her face. Her papa was the best wolf in the world. True facts.
As soon as Tide sat down by her, Snippet leaned over to nuzzle his neck and lick his cheek. She nudged her head under his and looked up at him happily. ”I’m fine, Papa,” she assured him. ”I got led here and Turtle’s taking care of me, I promise. She’s nice.” Her eyes were wide, to convey the earnestness of her words. She shifted slightly to remain within Turtle’s paws and also lean against Riptide. She loved her papa.

There was a rustling, it was coming from some nearby shrubbery and as a result Shoe’s ears began to swivel and acutely find the location of the sound. It wasn’t far away either. Her eyes looked down at the little Skitterfoot between her paws and she smiled, she would keep her safe and the pup would be able to heal if she needed to, hopefully such a need wouldn’t arise as she looked so tired. The kid by now was on her pads again, her rear wiggling so quick she was having to re-align her footing every moment just to keep herself up. Shoe smiled down at her with curiosity. Maybe the kid had a sweetheart. Not blameable on any count. Shoe didn’t look for the source of the sound, her ear was still quivering a little, ready to alert her of any cause for alarm, then her eyes would act as would her defences. She was ready. What she was not prepared for however was the sudden call from another wolf. A he-wolf, and his first word was directed to the pup between her paws. Shoe’s eyes darted up in time to see him smile. All sternness in his voice was clearly only concern and with humour. Her jaw parted slightly as her eyes took him in. He was a beautiful shade and his eyes so deep they could probably make stones bleed. This wolf was definitely handsome and she found herself unable to look away. The love in his eyes for his adopted daughter was just so immense it was almost suffocating in its goodness and the armoured fae painted green was relieved that her armour could hide her burning cheeks. Not a sweetheart but the wolf she had heard about moments before.
It was impossible to cease the staring and the open jaw, thankfully her massive fringe meant it was less obvious that Tide was being gawped at. Her eyes kept staring and re-staring. Tracing over him. He was sitting now. Right by her and his scent was everywhere, on the kid, on him and now in every breath of air she breathed. She watched as he asked his child of her health and was finally caught off guard when his words were directed to her. Her ears rose and her body tensed. Her mind finally kicking in to run all the checks. Predominantly that her side was not in his eyesight. This wolf was the last she’d ever met that she would want to see such a ‘label’. During her moment of shellshock she had been aware of her Skitterfoot looking at him intently, the smile she had was so full of adoration. She would’ve touched her paw to the kid, not wanting to force her to stay but to greet her dad but the kid had already started speaking. Shoe heard her ‘name’ being given by the little pup whom her gaze fell on before slowly returning to the male and noting his expression at the oddness of her ‘name’.. maybe not much weirder than her actual name.
“Hey there. I‘m Shoe. Oh, ‘Turtle’ is what this little scamp has decided to call me. I somehow convinced her that Shoe is a silly, made-up name. I guess your Tide? It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
Well this is what was said but it probably sounded less confident than was her normal personality and the little speech was probably all trembly. Inwardly Shoe sighed and would have lowered ears in humiliation but instead she kept up a façade as best she could. She was after all happy-go-lucky and always grinning. This male would meet the proper her! ..once she got past the stage fright effect he was having on her. Snippet went over to greet her Papa and Shoe watched her before she finally nestled down between the both of them. Shoe had been about to rise to properly greet this pack member as a loner herself but the little scamp was once again by her paws. She looked across her and up to Tide and was blushing again. They looked like a family and with a male so pretty before her it just made the embarrassment worse. She didn’t move though, just for her Skitterfoot. Instead she just bowed her head to the male and smiled, as a result of this cheeky pup her own cheek was kinda coming back slowly, so her smile had that slightly one sided smirk to it that made it longer on the one side as was her characteristic smile.
“This little kid of yours is a bloody great wonder, but I bet ya know that already.”
Followed by alarmed ears and wide eyes and a very hurried apology for letting her slang language get the better of her awareness of Snippet’s tender ears and mind.
