ira The grasses swayed, happily dancing in the wind and wished to remain rightly so. A stray flower here and there gazed up at the sun, giving it praise and smiling gladly. But as the small form of a creature, a wolf, no larger than a whelp one year of age, walked ever closer, the breeze that at first had seemed so uplifted became unbearably hot. The grass stilled and the flowers closed up so they would not have to look upon the one who had taken the freedom of those they so dearly loved- the wolves. Though this creature was not the main source of confinement, she had helped. And though this creature was also of wolven kind, they still trembled at her presence instead of flowing naturally with her movements. Her cream color coat still hid her just a bit, the brown grass slowly turning green with the approaching summer. Her amber eyes were flecked with amusement and her tail flicked side to side every so often.
She gazed upon the land and gave a smile. One that made the ice caps shiver and the tropics freeze. It was a wry smile, her head filled with thoughts of a different kind than any wandering varg here. So how fortunate, she was not a usual wolf that traveled these lands- how petty to think she was a loner. No, this creature, this wolf, was Mira. The new alphess of the Kumori Plains, the mate to Lucid. Her grin seemed to widen and darken, thoughts of Lucidity dancing across her mind. Such power he had, and such power he shared with her. By taking her as his mate, he had shared. Something even Mira found surprising. But the flowers weeped and grass shriveled and it did not go unoticed by the wolf. She grinned, a happy yet sinister twist of the lips, and trotted over towards the quaking grass and the crying flowers. Seeing their pain, she feigned a concerned look upon her face before seeming to lunge at the ground. With a bark of laughter - pure, unadultrated laughter - she threw herself to the ground, no longer caring about her appearance, at least not at this moment, and rolling over the grass and the flowers with the twisting of her spine. This was pure bliss to the new alphess of Kumori.

He was lost. His homeland to the North, the Fukai waterfalls to the West, Toko forest in the East, and the Marshlands of the South…he knew exactly where he was…but Crow was entirely lost.
His battle with his own father had left him this way. Though, ‘battle’ wasn’t necessarily the right word for it. Severe beating more accurately described it. But the worst part wasn’t his exhausted body or his scarred face. The factor that most haunted him was the fact that he had runaway. Crow ran from his problem, sinking to the ground and folding his ears like a cowering whelp. He had sickened himself, despite the fact that his life had depended on it. An entire life of dreaming he was greater, meant for the so called ‘throne’ of the Misuteriasu pack snubbed out like a small flame beneath Lucid’s paws. But was that all what he had truly wanted? Or had he always been deceived and brainwashed into constantly want to aspire to his own father’s greatness? Crow didn’t know anymore, but he hardly cared about his own ambitions at the moment. He felt the burden of a heavier issue upon his shoulders.
The entire pack, left in his and his sister’s care, was all left entirely speechless when their leaders claimed the loner’s lands in their name. Crow had always grown to see the loner lands, Kumori Plains, as something the ancestors had reserved for the lost and disheartened souls of others. They were to be left untouched by greedy claws, so decreed by the gods themselves. And his own father had done the unthinkable – at least to him. When no ancient ancestor or god reached down with its power and claimed the lands back…Crow was lost as to what to think. Whether the lands had truly meant to be taken in the name of Misuteriasu or the ancestors were mere fable, he didn’t know. But even if the lands had been ‘destined’ to be claimed in Lucid’s name, Crow didn’t feel it was right. His own gut always had disagreed with many things his alpha-father had accomplished in his lifetime. It was miserably ironic that the one and only time he spoke up, it lead him to not trust his gut anymore.
Lucid had taken the so-called, ‘unclaimable lands’ and there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that soon, another land would be next. But when Crow had confronted him about it, he was shocked to learn that there was a righteous reason behind it all. Lucid had shared his vision, a sight of a land unbounded by borders. Where no loners struggled to survive and all wolves lived united beneath a single rule. Crow knew that there had once been a time when the alphas of other lands would gather and politically discuss any disputes among their lands, but that was long ago. A land of one, living together with all…the offer sounded honestly, good to him. What was so wrong with that goal? Perhaps Lucid seemed cruel and downright unholy at times, but he had raised the strongest pack in all Aelyn and only wanted to extend the wealth he had brought to others. Crow searched in himself to find a good reason – any reason, to argue against it all. He could find none.
His slow monotonous steps halted. He had long lost count of the number of hours (if any) that he had been walking. White paws left enormous indentations in the dry grass of the plains behind him. He was taller than his father, but not larger when compared in girth or mass. Crow sighed, for absolutely no reason other than feeling completely exhausted. At least his head had stopped spinning and the sting of the wound upon his neck, and shoulders had ceased. But he considered that perhaps the pain was still there, and he had simply grown mentally numb to it. His argument with Lucid had left him scarred for life, a terrible tear reaching from behind his left cheekbone, down the length of his neck, and arching across his shoulder. Lucid had done well with ‘marking’ his own son’s banishment. Crow had no doubt in his mind that if the blow was meant to be fatal, it would have been. The wound would surly scar after it healed. One with healing abilities might be able to close the wound and prevent such a mark, but the only healers Crow knew of were Lucid and Tola. Crow didn’t know if he could even make his wings carry him off the ground in his state. All he felt like doing was sleeping.
But he couldn’t now, not after he caught that unforgettable scent in the air. No one with a heart could ever forget the scent of their mother. He saw her from a distance away, frolicking like a pup in late spring’s glory. Despite being with Lucid every step of the way, despite never whole-heartedly being there for him, despite everything, just the mere sight of her made him smile. It was a true, honest smile, one of a son who had not seen his mother for too long.

ira Stopping her twisting motions, Mira just lay there, all reason for crushing the life of the plants beneath her fleeing her mind. All she could focus on now was the endless skies above her. A brief thought of if those skies could be claimed as well crossed over her mind but the sheer might of the blue expanse stole her breath away and wiped her mind blank of all things. All she could focus on was how far up it went, did it feel anything? Did it cry when the earth cried out? Did it smile just a bit brighter when the earth was perfectly warmed by the sun? Or were these just things that Mira could never find the answer to? Shaking her head, she stood up and shook her pelt free of all the grass that had lodged itself in the white. She smiled that cruel yet sweet smile down at the crushed flower that she had rolled over and the flattened grass that would spring up again in a few moments and mourn for the flower's death. But her thoughts froze in her mind as she caught the scent of her son. Her head picked up and she looked over and sure enough, Crow was there, a large gash across his side and a look on his face that Mira couldn't quite place. Something inside her told her that she shouldn't go closer to him, but yet it was her son and despite what she felt, a small part of her quietly wondered what had harmed him and if he was okay. But Mira, strong Mira, a wolf that many feared and a varg that the 'terrible' Lucid mated, just stood there and stared. Just stared at her son, no matter if he looked like he could die any second, if he was truely strong enough to be her son, he would come forward on his own and not make his mother come to him.

His feet didn’t feel so heavy anymore, the moment that he made eye contact. Even though he was a distance away, Crow could feel their eyes meet as she looked to him. He picked up his steps, quickly at first, but he slowed himself, as not to seem so eager. Flat out running too her would seem very childish, and no longer was he a child. Looking at how big he was now, it could be hard for anyone to believe that he had ever been a child. Crow had grown even larger than his father. At the shoulder he was nearly a paw’s width taller. But standing so high without inheriting the massive girth of muscles his father owned, made him look almost skinny…weak.
His round skull lowered to her height and the rest of his body followed suit. As he bended, he flinched slightly from the wound in his shoulder, but Crow did his best to hide the pain. He didn’t want her to worry. The true smile still curved his handsome features, and if his eyes held any pupils they would have sparkled with happiness and life for meeting his mother again. The joy vividly reflected itself within his voice as well, as he softly spoke the two words, ”Hi, mom.” Twin-tails gave rhythmic thumps on the ground behind him. Despite how he had tried not to, Crow most likely seemed very childish right now.
But how could he not? Mother…he had not seen her it what felt like forever. Crow couldn’t even remember the number of seasons she had been gone. The fact that she had left with Lucid to steal the land away from the loners’ didn’t phase him in this moment. Crow was with his mother, the one whom he could never see doing any wrong or harm, especially to him. Mira would make everything better…moms always did.

ira There was some part of Mira that just wanted to jump and frolic around like a young pup again. It wanted to cry out in happiness at seeing another familiar face in these desolate plains. In all her time here, she hadn't even seen another varg, but to see a familiar face brought such joy and happiness to Mira that she was briefly afraid that her heart might leap out of her chest. It sure felt like it. But she held together and did not go sprinting toward her son as he came closer to her. When had he gotten so big? It seemed like only hours ago that Crow had been a helpless pup that she wished to protect with her very life. She still did, but no longer was he blind and searching around the den floor for his mother's milk. No, he was a large, strong brute that would go out and make something of himself- of that she was sure. "Hello, Crow," The words felt like cotton in her mouth. Too long had it been since she had seen her son. And all at once, he was a child again. Mira felt her chest swell, her heart thump faster as she recalled the moments in which she wasn't an alphess, but a mother playing with her pups. Oh, how she had loved all three of her children with everything she had. She had been heartbroken when Haven left, but forbidden to show that sign of weakness- she had to remain strong for the good of the pack, for the sake of her two children left. She had looked back over her shoulder as her and Lucid left for the Kumori Plains, back at her two children who were left in charge in their absence. They were growing up far too quickly for Mira's taste. And once again seeing her child, she knew that her moments as a mother had returned once again. She knew that she could dote and love her son, once again, even if for a little while.

With her two words, the rest of the world melted away. For once in what felt like an eternity to him, Crow felt relaxed…Crow felt safe. She was one of the few childhood comforts that he could seek out, one of the few things that made him feel strong and worthy to live and breathe. Ridicule was all he had even known as a pup, ridicule from his own family. But his mother always had been there to comfort him, always had been there to nip at Tola’s mean jaws and hush Haven’s judgmental tongue. She was his warmth on the cold mountain nights. She was the one who had pushed and cheered him forward when no one else did. At the moment, Crow felt as if she was all he could hold onto within the whirlpool of his mind.
His glowing eyes closed slowly in a peaceful, resting manner as he pushed up on her jaw with his forehead in a gentle greeting. But in the moment of stretching his neck, Crow flinched, having forgotten entirely about his wound. The skin from his left cheekbone had been torn down the length of his neck. He had been lucky it wasn’t deep, or he would be dead. If he could have licked and nurtured it he would, but it was impossible for him to even see. He looked to Mira’s piercing amber eyes, not wanting to explain anything to her. Before mother could fret about him being hurt, Crow quickly opened his mouth to offer a change of subject.
”Where have you been?” it was a weak question. It was obvious to anyone that she had been here, in her new lands. The lands that had been stolen from the rogues. The question was a sad excuse to start a conversation with one’s mother, taking into consideration how long they had been separated. But it was better than the other question that had entered his mind, “have you seen Father lately?”.

ira He flinched against her and anger welled up inside her, the scent of Lucid heavy within the blood. Yes, he was her mate and she loved him with every inch of her body, but she also loved her children with everything as well. And in so, she wanted to hurt, maim, kill the varg who dared to make her child bleed. But she couldn't, her heart was torn in two between seeking vengence for Crow's pain and the love she held with Lucid. But her mind decided for her, she could feel this anger and hurt, but she would not act on it. It would be stupid and foolish to do so. It would do her no good in any possible way. She could be banished, abandoned by her love, or even worse: killed. And so, closing her eyes, she inhaled deeply, ignoring the small itch in her brain that focused on Lucid's scent in the wound, and she payed attention to her son's pain. She was about to ask about his wound- what had he done to deserve his father's wrath, but she was cut off by Crow's own question and she smiled dearly to her son. "I've been around, looking at all the new land that has been aquired in the name of our pack and our cause." She spoke calmly, trying not to let the irrational tone of voice creep out and ask about his wound. Her ear twitched, fighting to stay up and proud instead of splayed and worried. Her eyes burned, hiding back the tears at seeing her flesh and blood that she brought into the world in a single night. Crow was the only child she had left, for surely Tola would become a daddy's girl, and Haven would no longer accept his mother's love. It didn't seem rational to love the ones who outcast you, even if they shared your DNA. And Lucid, he had been out being a diplomat the past few weeks, leaving Mira alone. And now that the only thing left that Mira truely owned was here, she would make sure their time was spent happily. She didn't want to drive Crow away. She couldn't dream of it.
