Well personally In my opinion Insomniac knew how to make a Spyro game. Sierra just ruins Spyro. Yes I like Cinder, she is quite cute and adds a new level of depth to the games but I dislike all this darkness in Spyro games nowadays. What happened to the 'stunning and beautiful' levels? And the home world ideas rather than having a simple storyline game where you can't go back unless you do the whole thing over again? Anyone agree with me? In my opinion these are the good Spyro games;
Spyro The Dragon (bit hard but still) Spyro 2; Gatway To Glimmer (absolutely amazing, love this game to bits) Spyro; Year Of The Dragon (Personally my favourite of them all, loved all the levels and the eggs were simply adorable) Spyro; Enter the Dragonfly (also great not lost touch on PS2) Spyro; Season Of Fire/ Season Of Ice (whichever was the one where you required the gaining of glow-worms to get powers back, I never played the other one hehe)
There may be other that are good but all DS/Wii (that era) Spyro games are dissapointing to me. Agree? Disagree?

Totally agree...
The story in the new Spyro games are...'cute'...but it's just not Spyro. First of all, whose idea was it to put actors as the voices of these lovable, children's characters? Yes, the elder dragons do sound pretty cool, but Elijah Wood's voice is not what comes to mind when I think of the but-kicking, feisty purple dragon. And although the graphics are quite admirable, what's up with Spyro's HUGE head? Yes, games aren't at all realistic, I'm quite aware of that fact, but at least before he had a reasonably huge head, now it just seems bulgy, and his eyes kinda bug out. He looks like the Spyro from 'Gateway To Glimmer' after you use the big head cheat code.
Enter the Dragonfly (the first PS2 game for Spyro), I feel that it kinda lost it's touch. But that might be because the game was full of annoying glitches that were hard to escape. And (if i remember correctly) didn't Spyro have a nasaly voice in this game?
A Hero's Tale (the second PS2 game of Spyro), I think this one was great. They kept spyro's personality brilliantly and the game was very well put together. I think what I enjoyed most from this game was the details, and the fact that you could play as Hunter and he was no longer a winy cheetah. Hunter kicks but in this game.
Personally my favorite is the very first one (can't beat the original) but the second and the third are a close match.

Now that I think about it, Spyro IS way out of proportion. His head spikes are too big and he's too angular. I prefer the more rounded out Spyro that resides in the first few games.
Enter the Dragonfly was very glitchy, but I thought it was just my PS2, as it now just jams when I place a PS2 game in. I've got Spyro Enter the Dragonfly for Gamecube and now play it on my Wii, but I get very nervous every time I see the loading screen of Spyro flying across it (as when It jammed it would spend half an hour or more just on that sequence, spyro neverendingly flying until I turned the PS2 off Dx)

i agree, i have always been a massive fan of spyro and the new game just does not give him justice, Year of the dragon was my favorite ^^ the only thing i like in the new one would be the last boss fight but even so they changed it too much. like the elder dragons and sparx. If you make another game based on the previous it should not change that much.

yay Spyro! barely played but watched a mate play it YEEEAAARS ago when he had his PS2 and I never did. Now I have one and have been meaning to buy some Spyro games beyond Season of Fire which I think I've completed on my GBA XD anyways, so far the first three sound the best. Any in particular really uber for a first time player? ^^ (Think I remember the one with dragonfly Sparx and all the elder dragons ^^)[/b]
