Her blood red form tread lightly through the terrain, her raven black wings folded gently to her rib cage. Solid white orbs peered around her as she pondered her own thoughts inside her own mind. The fur around her neck and over her eyes, much longer than the rest of her fur and stained the same crimson color, but with black tips to it, flowed gently in the wind. That was, until the unthinkable happened.
She had wandered alone for quite some time... meeting no others and without Sphinx's company. She had no idea where he had gotten to, and at the moment, quite frankly, she didn't care... or at least, she liked to think she didn't. In all reality, it bothered her so much that her mate was nowhere to be seen, but what could she do? She'd tried calling for him on several occasions, but did he answer? Did she hear anything from him? No... so she was left utterly alone.
She flopped on the ground as she got lost in her thoughts, unsure of what she should do. More often than not, she thought about fading away into nothing, but whenever those thoughts came up, the idea of the precious cargo she carried with her kept her going and taking care of herself. She hadn't had the chance to even tell Sphinx yet... not that it really mattered if he knew or not... yes, he was the father, but she assumed that nothing would change... that yeah, he'd be excited and ecstatic, but in reality, would he treat anything any differently? He would probably just blame any anger she had on hormones or something... which would in turn piss her off more... but hey, if he was going to be insensitive, then so be it. She could just as easily be a bitch back.
She pondered these thoughts for a while, contemplating every possible outcome and every possible way things could go, like she often did... when the serenity that she had found in a secluded area of the plains was shattered by a bone-chilling howl. Her eyes grew wide... as would her pupils if she had any, as she listened to the chilling message that was carried in the winds. It seemed so close to her that she instinctively looked around her defensively, ready to defend herself and keep herself and her pups alive, but she hoped that the great brute of a howl she had just heard was at least a few miles from her... after all, the plains were rather vast, were they not?
"Great, just great. Another thing to rain on my already soaked parade. What else are you going to throw my way, oh mighty Ancestors." She shouted to the heavens and oozing sarcasm as she allowed a few silent tears to escape down her face. She hated this... being alone and without her loved mate... she hated the events that she was going through without anyone to share them with. Most of all, she hated the fact that she had no one to share the news she had always wanted to be able to share with someone... the news that she was going to be a mother... No, instead, she had a power hungry jerk trying to claim what wasn't his and putting a damper on an already sopping wet parade. Great... just great.
Sway remained in her position, flopped on the ground, head over her paws, as she wept silently, wondering what she would do... and where her beloved Sphinx had disappeared to.

She grumbled to herself, stringing along quite a vocabulary of cuss words in the process. Her perfect life, ruined. And all ‘cuz this high-and-mighty mutt from the Mountain Clan wants extra space to frolic about. She snorted, sending a burst of warm breath into the chilled air. Probably a real jerk, someone who obviously didn’t care for the free lives of others, and someone with too much weight to throw around. Her feet struck the ground a little harder than necessary as she walked, her temper subconsciously getting the best of her. ”He’s probably compensating for something.” Her thoughts escaped through her mouth.
The tan female stopped and brought her back leg up to scratch right behind her horns-the spot that always seemed to itch. ”Heh, it’s not like it’ll be hard to boot him outta here.” She paused, wondering if she could count all the loners on her fingers and toes combined. There had to be a decent amount of them. And even if there weren’t, she was positive that the alpha’s of other packs wouldn’t be exactly pleased about loosing the freelands. ”Wait a sec, don’t the ancestors use the Sacred Circle to speak with the alphas? Ha! Wonder if they’ll fry him to a crisp!” She stood and started walking again, entertained by thoughts of a lightning bolt smiting the pompous jerk. Her mini-tail twitched as a light snowflake disturbed its peace.
She turned to look at it, a slight annoyed expression crossing her face. Perfect, winter was on its way and she had to move to another spot just ‘cuz some guy’s backyard wasn’t big enough. She sighed in defeat and moved forward to wipe the flake from her tail. But as her frontend moved forward, so did her rear. Growling, she planted her hind feet firmly to the ground and arched her body to try to reach the tip of her mini-tail. Her tongue came out of her mouth, reaching to lick the flake away. ”Huuuh, eeeehhh, graaaah….” She grunted and strained, but the flake remained only a hair’s width out of reach. The tan female snarled, resulting to leaping forward, but because of her hind legs were planted firm, with the sudden jerk of her upper body caused them to cross and in turn caused the tan female to trip and land promptly on her chest with a resonating THUD [/i].[/size][/blockquote] Clicketh!

She mumbled to herself, sounding not unlike someone who should be in a mental institution, and growled audibly in her distain and distaste. This brute was going to mess everything up and there wasn't a whole lot she could do about it. He probably had some sort of reason for doing this and probably had enough back-up to do so that he was able to claim these lands for his own, making any who had enjoyed the freedom prisoners in their own home.
Sighing, she slowly raised her head, a small sound catching her audits. She flicked her tail idly and turned her head toward the source of the sound. "Great, now what? If that's the brute that I just heard, I'll be sure to give him a piece of my mind..." She growled slightly as a soft thud found its way to her ears.
She tilted her head to the side, her curiosity getting the best of her as she stood and slowly made her way to the source of the noise. The sight that she saw before her was enough to burst out laughing. Well, at least it seemed that there was something to brighten up her day a bit.
She couldn't stop.. just the sight of a wolf in such an odd position was enough to make her laugh until her sides hurt. She tried to catch her breath, she knew she should offer help, but it was just way too funny. "Any... thing I .... can do... to help?" She panted as she attempted to speak, but it really sounded too high pitched and nearly incoherent enough to understand. Her breathing was quick as she attempted to regain her composure, finally bringing herself to calm down a bit, though a laugh and a snicker still escaped here and there.

The female didn't move as she fell, a bit dazed from the collision which had occured between her chest and the ground. She shook the dizzy out of her head, and flinched slightly as her weight shifted. Her back hurt from the awkward arch it had been forced into, and she could feel the muscles of her belly stretching a bit too far beyond their compacity. She grumbled, and although it hurt, she just lay there, cursing the damned snowflake that mocked her. She meant to get up, but the sound of bursting laughter caught her ears. She tried to turn towards it, but her limited mobility prevented her from seeing the stranger. "Uhhh!" grunting as she contracted her somach muscles so that her hind legs came back to the ground. She sat upright, flinching as spikey sensation of her spine and muscles falling into their proper places. Reaching forward with her front paws, she arched her back like a feline to stretch. Two deep pops were felt as her lower back cracked. She flinched hearing the noise, but relaxed when she felt the relief that they had brought. Sitting back on her rump with a plop, she looked over the stranger; who was still bursting with laughter. The tan female held in a grin at the thought of making someone laugh.
She was about to speak, say a sly comment or a quirky remark, but just as she opened her maw the stranger spoke. Well, at least she might have spoke. The tan female flinched at the noise, the image of a chimpmunk stuck in outerspace popping into her head. She blinked and shook the voice from her head. "Well, you can start by 'uppin' the baratone." Sway snickered a few more times before regaining most of her composure. She watched as the female reacquainted herself with the ground in the more proper manner, and made a face when her back cracked. She could never get her neck or back to do such things and it always irked her when others could, though she always very quickly got over it.
She took a few deep breaths, before she spoke again. "Better? I have to say, I didn't mean to laugh, but you should have seen yourself." She snickered again at the image that played in her head, before she shook the giggles from her system. "I'm Sway. Usually I would introduce Sphinx to you, but he has gone missing for quite some time and quite frankly is not on my very happy list right now. Who might you be? I haven't seen you around before." She gave a smile and slowly sat down in a more comfortable position. At least she had some form of company, even if she was a total stranger.
Sway adjusted her wings so they sat in a more comfortable manner against her sides, before she flicked the hair that hung over her left eye back, allowing her to see a little better. She curled her tail around her paws and gave the female a once-over. She was strange indeed... and not by just her first impressions... she had what looked like horns instead of ears, and her tail was nothing like any other wolf tail she had seen. She had two piercings, which Sway thought were interesting as well. She tilted her head to the side in contemplation while she waited for the female to speak.

Bah, crap reply but I wanted to get this ball rolling again.
She sat backwards, not ‘sitting’ completely with her rump, supporting her weight with her rear legs as if she were about to spring off of the ground. Her head cocked slightly with the sound of the female’s, Sway’s, voice. It held a lot of extremes in it, though they weren’t really heard, but it was very misleading…anyone who heard her voice first wouldn’t be able to guess just how high in pitch her laughter was. The brown wolf smiled. She liked that. Sway had something about her, something unique. It was odd really, not very many individuals really caught her attention like this. If she had ears, they would’ve flicked with thoughts.
But though Sway interested her, she immediately removed her green eyes from the white ones. She stared idly at the ground by Sway’s feet, and even though she wasn’t looking, she could literally feel the stranger’s eyes look her over. Oh, how she hated that. ‘Yeah, so I’m strange lookin’ so what you have wings’ She sighed inwardly, and pretended to look at something mildly interesting in the distance, beyond Sway. ”Yeah, I’m ah…I’m Punk.” Recalling Sway’s previous words, she wasn’t really sure how to respond, but that’s what came out of her toothy mouth as a reply. Of course, she could have given her full name, but adding ‘wolf’ onto her name when clearly she was a wolf didn’t seem to make much sense.
Wind suddenly struck the tan female upon her back, her eyes growing slightly larger with mild surprise. The longer black fur upon her back billowed and whipped, some upon her neck reaching into her face and poking her eyes, tickling her nose. Snorting an itch from her nose, she shook her neck and head (as if that would stop the wind). When her efforts proved futile, she huffed, looking up to Sway before again averting her eyes to that imaginary thing in the distance.

Sway nodded and said in a cheery voice "Nice to meet you, Punk." She thought for a moment longer before curling her tail toward her paws. She looked around them, her attention drawing toward other things as she grew observant of what her surroundings were, before turning her gaze back toward Punk.
"So..." She paused for only a brief moment, dragging out the word ever so slightly. "What are you doing out here? I'm sure you heard the call." She wasn't sure what to say and felt a bit awkward in the situation, but thought that making some small talk might be good. Sway was never really good at starting conversations, but get her on a subject that she was interested in and you couldn't make her shut up most of the time.
She was at a complete loss for what to do... there wasn't a whole lot going on, except for the large brute who claimed the lands for his own, forcing her and eventually Sphinx to move into a packland... The question was, what packland would be good? She honestly didn't really want to join a pack... she enjoyed having so much freedom of her own, but she also knew she had to do what was best for her and for her pups that were growing inside her. She wasn't showing all that much, if at all, so most wouldn't be able to tell she was even carrying pups, but she knew, as any mother would.
She looked around her again, slightly awkwardly in the situation, and tilted her head to the side in contemplation. ((Didn't know where to go with it lol))

Punk looked from the distance behind Sway and brought her attention back to the red female. ”Sorry, I was just wondering if I could see that guy’s ego, sounds big enough.” Her nose gave a slight twitch as her eyes narrowed. ”Yeah, I heard him, hard to believe anyone didn’t. Can’t believe it. I know I haven’t even met the guy, but I bet I could tell you everything about him.” Her right paw gestured wildly in the air as she spoke. ”The guy’s got nuthin’ to back himself up with. He sees himself as tough, but its probably only because he’s got a large pack who’s behind him. But…” She stood with her last word, holding the wild right paw up in a ‘halt’ gesture. ”The pack only back him up because they think he’s tough.” Sitting back, she allowed satisfaction to curve her expression.
”Pack dynamics are crap. Nuthin’ but big words, big actions, and little to show for it.” The shortened tail located on her rear twitched slightly as she leaned back, almost in a “begging” posture. ”Y’see, the only thing this guy’s got outta’ his deal is a huge field,” she motioned all around her with both paws off the ground, ”where the prey run’s dry in the winter. Plus, he’s surrounded on three sides by what’s most likely three pissed-off packs. Not to mention all the loners who call this place home.” She smirked, ”Big action, little to show for it.” The shortened tail twitched again, as if it had a mind of it’s own; and that mind agreed with her.
