OOC - Warning, uber long post ahead! =O lol VANYA & AKAI The forest was calm as always, only a few sounds made by the various creatures that inhabited it could be heard echoing amongst the trees. Though it wasn’t nearly as lively as it had been a few weeks ago. Yes, winter was nearing, the cold wind announced it; and with it had come a rather silent atmosphere. The forest that had once been bursting with life had now gone mute. Every single creature was now preparing for the harsh months to come. The large variety of birds that chirped happily up in the branches of the trees that had come to be their home had now left, seeking warmer temperatures elsewhere. And even those majestic trees that formed the forest had lost almost all of their foliage by now, covering the woods with colors. And so the forest was now strangely quiet and calm.
A certain pup apparently had decided that he would have none of it though, as he protested loudly, his voice echoing through the woods. “Oww! You’re hurting me!” The pup wasn’t alone though, as the fae that had come to be his caretaker was accompanying him. Many would have thought that she probably was too young to be taking care of a pup by herself, but she had managed to do it just fine the last few months despite her inexperience. In fact, a quick look into her eyes could tell anyone that she was way more mature than what her physique showed. Though it was true that taking care of the pup wasn’t an easy task, and the gash on one of her hind legs proved it. She had gotten it when she had had to fend off a big and hungry cat on her own to protect to pup; and yet she was determined to do this. She had grown to be prepared for anything that might be thrown her way for the sake of survival after all, and now here she was, taking care of a pup that wasn’t hers, but that she had decided to take under her wing as if he was her own offspring.
As things were now, she was currently carrying said pup to a rather comfortable place she had found at the base of a big tree. His fur was way too messy for her likings and in her opinion it was time to groom him a bit. Clearly the young wolf hadn’t been too fond of the idea since he had decided to run off, and of course she had gone after him. It was when she had managed to catch him that he protested with all his might, and in this case that meant doing so as loudly as he possibly could. The femme just rolled her eyes at this, annoyed that he had just given away their location to half of the forest as usual; because she was sure that anyone in the vicinities had heard him. She didn’t mind it for now though, this shouldn’t take too long after all.
Of course she hadn’t forgotten why they were here. She knew that a pack of wolves inhabited this forest, and she intended to find them and join them. But these minor things, such as cleaning up the little troublemaker that traveled with her, had to be done as well. Besides, a little rest wouldn’t hurt them. She was well aware that just howling to make her presence known in their territory would spare her a lot of troubles. But she had also learned by experience that that could draw some unwanted attention as well, and she definitively didn’t want to deal with something like that in her current condition, so she would just limit herself to look for any pack-members.
When she reached the desired location she made sure to settle down in a comfortable position, keeping the slight pain that shot from her hind leg at a minimum, before letting go of the pup just to make sure that she would be able to get a hold of him if tried to run away again. “Of course I’m not hurting you, you silly thing. Now stop being a wimp and stay still for once … And I would appreciate it if you tried not to announce or presence to every living being in the vicinities”, she replied in a rather annoyed way to the pup’s protest. She started grooming him by lapping methodically his black pelt then, not waiting for a reply on his part. The young wolf just sat there between her stretched front legs in defeat, letting her do as she pleased. His displeasure was obvious in his face though. “This is so not fair! Why can you get away with everything?” The fae stopped for a moment to answer his question. “Because I’m bigger than you, and because I’m the one that sets the rules here. And you’re supposed to listen and follow as any good pup would do”, she said matter-of-factly, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world, before returning to groom him. The pup just rolled his eyes and grumbled slightly in distaste. “What kind of twisted logic is that anyway?”. She couldn’t help but to laugh softly at this, but she didn’t say anything in return: yes, he definitively caught on things quickly.
A few more minutes passed as she groomed him carefully before she stopped again. She took a few seconds to appreciate her work before nudging him gently with her muzzle. “Ok, I think we’re done here”, she said softly. “Yay!”, the pup stood up abruptly at this, and he quickly got away to shake his now humid pelt a bit. While he was busy doing god knows what a few feet away, most likely doing a mess as usual, the fae turned her attention to the gash on her hind leg. She had to keep it clean in order to avoid a possible infection, so she proceeded to lick it carefully, cringing at the pain that the action caused her.
She was so focused on the task at hand that she never noticed the pup approaching her. He sneaked behind her and just popped his head out, putting both of his little paws on her mid-section to hold himself up and have a better view. “How is it?”, he asked quietly, concern clear on his face. The femme stopped what she was doing to look at the pup, and she was moved to see that he was actually concerned about her. “Better than before … It isn’t a big deal though, I just have to make sure to keep it clean”. She smiled at him, trying to reassure him that everything was alright. But apparently he would have none of it, because the concerned expression didn’t leave his young face. “Does it hurt?”, he insisted. She sighed at this, realizing that she probably would have to be honest with him. “Just a bit, it’s not too bad though”. Of course she was lying, for a sharp wave of pain was cursing through her body at the moment, almost making her tremble. But she had to stay strong for him, because he would be lost, literally, if anything were to happen to her. “You should stop thinking about it Kai, it wasn’t your fault. The damn thing was hungry, it would have come after us anyway”. The pup just nodded absently, his eyes fixed on her injury, trying to convince himself that what she was saying was true.
The fae sighed again when she noticed that her words didn’t seen to have much effect on him. She decided to change her tactics then, maybe a bit of rest would help the pup to clear his mind. She nudged him gently with her muzzle to get his attention before speaking. “We should try to get some rest while we can. Try to sleep, we can keep looking for the pack later”. The young wolf looked at her and nodded. “Ok, but promise that you’ll sleep a bit too”. He knew that she didn’t sleep much in order to keep watch when they were on unknown lands, and sometimes it even worried him because she looked so tired later. So he felt he had to insist for her to rest a bit. She just smiled at him before replying, “Fine, I promise, now get some rest”.
He put his paws in the ground again then, and he moved to curl up against her stomach as he usually did. After making sure that he was fast asleep she lowered her head and rested it between her front paws. She didn’t sleep though: she just kept her ears perked up, listening to everything around her, trying to be aware of everything as to not be taken out of guard in case something happened.
OOC -Oh gawd, and here I am again, overdoing things as usual >.> Sorry for the uberly long post ... It would seem that I fail at writing decently-lenghted posts whenever I have 'the' muse Dx Anyway, this is my second thread with these two, so I would appreciate it if it wasn't left to die again e.e' And I hope it isn't too cheesy or dramatic, this was the only idea that popped into my mind that I hadn't used in the other threads yet xD

Her warm gaze watched the many wolves roaming through camp. She didn't say anything, not needing anything for now and no one had come with a problem. A few wolves wandered past, their tails swinging and bedding in their jaws. Cleaning day, she supposed. Good, the camp needed a good cleaning anyway. She rose to her paws, her position in the trees surrounding the camp - the highest place - forsaken so she could help around camp. She stretched, the hard bark scrapping her paws and the warmth she had generated cooling as chill wind blew. She shook out her fur and leaped from her branch gracefully. Her wings spread out and caught her weight easily and she dropped swiftly to the ground. Her landing was quiet and she folded her wings into her fur as she trotted toward her den with long strides. Where her wing joints had once been, now were dark blue curved stripes and her sides were smooth.
She lowered her head and slipped into the large den that resided next to the alpha one. For Betas it was, and large with high ceilings it was made for a family. It had been a long time since she had noticed the empty feel of it and she didn't now. Her paws didn't echo, it was too well made, as she stood tall inside the space provided into the stone and under it. Warm soil formed walls, tree roots holding it first. She called on her power, water flowing from the dirst and sweeping away the old bedding and out of the den by way of the tunnel. She drew all the water back, leaving the floor dry once again and the plants nurished. She blinked softly, her light eyes taking in the den one last time before she turned and slithered out of the small crawl space and into the midday light. She was blinded a moment but one blink and she gazed around the camp. The pile of debri at her feet was lifted into her jaws and she followed the trail out of camp to the bathroom area where she dropped off the bundle, used what the place was used for before bounding off in search of new moss.
When she loped back to camp for the last time, she had finished the cleaning and new, clean moss and soft dirt filled her den. It spelled fresh, like grass and the forest, and the pack. She breathed in, pushing the bedding into the corner a bit more before gazing around. Small alcoves covered the light stone walls. Light darted in from well placed holes that littered the outside of the stone and of the small stones that reflected light. A wolf many many years ago who had been part of the pack did this to many of the dens. The tree roots that slid into her den were covered in bright green moss, and in the spring small flowers would bloom on it but it was almost winter again. Small alcoves, hollow out by Minou herself were filled with small objects. Feathers, pebbles, and other small objects that had memories and meaning to her. It was slightly blue, making it calm, but she knew she would not sleep more today but for a short nap and that while watching the lands.
She turned her slim body, moving back out to the camp which was now buzzing with the sleepy stillness of midday. The sun was sort of warm, but the air had a nip in it that caused the wolves to curl up inside dens and share body heat if they remained outside. Her breath was nearly visible, the heat from her lungs irritating the air, but it was not yet that cold. Soon though, very soon, the snows would come. It hadn't rained, and the air was more bitter than it should be this time of year, and she had a feeling winter was going to be hard. But it was still warm enough to be okay and for plant life to survive. She met the eyes and smiled lightly at a packmate as she passed by and Minou walked out of the camp on silent paws. More wolves were making the rounds about the lands but she sent a few back to camp when she incountered them.
The silence of the woods didn't bother her as a danger, but rather in the fact she didn't hear any deer around. It was a problem if there were no prey animals. Her head lifted and she took in the scent the wind so helpfully carried and stretched her mind out. At the edges of the territory she detected a small herd, but there were enough rabbit hidden to keep them okay until they could chase the deer farther into the borders. She drew back her mind and settled her fur down and started to walk farther into the trees when her retreating mental probe snagged. This was a good word for it. Her powers back her mind more like a easily stretchable blanket. When she incountered another mind the fibers of it caught on theirs and Minou felt the unusually brush of another.
Her ears arched forward and she stopped abruptly, a sharp movement unlike her. One delicate paw was raised in the air, her muscles still. And just like that she was off, mind centering on the two wolves resting right on the border of her land. She didn't intrude, nor was she noticable as a prescence, but she gleaned the small things. Male and Female. Pup and Youngwolf. Not related in blood but my love and past. And one was tired and in pain, the pup just restfully asleep. Her breathed huffed from large lungs as she headed through the territory quickly. Sun - or what was seen as gray clouds moved in - made her coat dapple as it splashed throuhg the leaves and fought to hit the ground. Tree roots seemed to hop out of no where but the blue hued female took them in stride. She had lived here to long to worry about the terrain.
She laped onto a fallen tree and then off, nails digging into soggy, decaying moss and flinging it out behind her as she pushed herself into the air and hit with a soft thump. Her tail fluttered behind her, the feathers on the end a little spread to help her steer . She watched the lands - her lands until the alpha returned or another took his place - dissapear under her paws. Her pelt looked like water. Basically a white with the hues of blue, it shifted and moved like water. She had no other colors but the dark, gray-blue that made up everything else. The skin around her eyes, her nose, her gums, her tongue, paw pads, and claws were all the soothing dull blue. She was slim, almost oo much so. If her ribs weren't covered with healthy muscles, one would think she was starving. She was tall, long legged, long bodied and nearly at the 'odd' category. She was a weird sort of beauty. One that many thought just too strange to actually be mated to, but okay to follow.
Feathers danced from forhead to tip of her tail, large ears, a slim muzzle. She looked more like a small, shorter furred borzoi than any wolf. But like both animals, she was loyal and strong and fast. She was physically okay at battle, her power resting in her mind and water and healing. But she wasn't as delicate as she looked. She slowed, the wind whipped her pelt and she flattened her ears. Her nose twitched and she walked through the trees, not hiding or sneaking but walking as if she owned it. And she basically did at the moment. Her paw parted and a low bark slid out of her throat, as smooth as any of her other sounds. She cocked her head, standing tail her tail curved over her back as she stopped just within the personal circle of the two. She wasn't overly close, but she was just enough to show they were on her land, and she wasn't going to back off if they had a problem with her meeting them. But the ethereal she-wolf didn't give of aggression, more like calm interest as her light blue eyes watched the other fae.
ooc - boo for you. making me be unlazy and actually work on a long post xD word count -

VANYA & AKAI Yes, she had intended to keep watch as she always did from the very beginning while the pup slept by her side. But something, she wasn’t quite sure what since it could as well have been the pain that cursed through her body or the exhaustion that invaded her, or maybe both, but it was making her start to drift off. At first she just got deep in thought, memories, both pleasant and unpleasant rushing through her mind; not that it was something strange anyway.
She thought about her family and how she had lost everything she knew and everything she loved in one night, how she had been forced to wander through the lands with her brother after that in search of a place to call home from a very young age. She remembered how they had joined a rather large group of wolves, though it couldn’t really be called a pack, but it was good enough for them. And then she remembered how history had repeated itself once more, and how she lost what was dear to her in one night; the very same night she picked up the pup that was now asleep besides her. Yes, fate could be cruel, and the fae hoped that she was done unleashing her wrath over her, because now she was looking for a home again, and she didn’t think she could handle loosing everything that she cherished a third time.
But she was strong; she had been from the very beginning of her life; she was a survivor. She had been the only one in her litter to stay alive when she was a newborn after all. Even now, her whole family was death, but she was still alive. She had seen wolves rise and fall in front her despite her young age, and yet she was still alive. Yes, she was alive. And no matter what she would keep fighting. She would never give up, she would never surrender, nothing would make her back down, especially now that another life depended on her. That was the length of the strength and the determination of her spirit, the very flame that kept her moving, that inspired her to keep going even when things seemed dire; and probably the reason why she was here now, because otherwise she would have most likely fallen a long time ago. Because after all, she was still just a wolf; and she was tired and hurt, not only physically, but mentally as well. Anyone else would probably have already given up at this point, but that was not an option for her.
And so, as these thoughts drifted in the depts of her mind, her eyes slowly started to shut down; and without even noticing it she was soon fast asleep. Her sleep was quite light though, seeing as she was still semi-aware of her surroundings; it was almost as if it was an instinctive defensive mechanism. So she just laid there, her body relaxed as she slept for what seemed the first time in an eternity besides her protégé, the pain of the injury on her hinder leg momentarily forgotten. If she had been conscious of what was happening at the moment she most likely would have been surprised at how exhausted she actually, because it was not like her to just fall asleep while she was supposed to keep watch. But now there was nothing she could do unless she snapped back to her senses, and taking the circumstances into account, that was not likely to happen in a near future unless something forced it.
And that’s exactly what happened. Only a couple of minutes had passed since she had fallen into the arms of Morpheus before something snapped her back to reality; and that was the low, smooth bark the resounded somewhere near the area where both the fae and the pup were laying. Her light amber eyes suddenly snapped open while her ears twitched in response to the sound. She raised her head abruptly, her audits perked up in a very alert stance. But her vision was still foggy from her previous sleep and for some reason her head was spinning, so it took her a moment to actually realize what was happening.
When she finally managed to focus on her surroundings she made to stand up on her paws, but the slight weight against her stomach reminded her that Akai was still sleeping. She nudged him gently with her muzzled, though the movement came out a bit rougher than what she had intended. “Kai, up.”, she commanded softly. Despite having been asleep a mere second before the pup was quick to react, waking up instantly and sitting up on his rump, though his sleepiness was still obvious in his face. He was clearly used to these sudden events by now, and thus he knew he had to be always prepared to get on the move if necessary. But for now he was just confused since he had no idea of what was happening or why his caretaker was so alarmed.
Yes, alarm was the word to describe what the femme was feeling at the moment. She had been taken out of guard, and that was not supposed to happen, ever. Not to her at least, because a mistake like that could cost both hers and the pup’s lives. So if she had been able to do so, she would most likely have slapped herself for her carelessness. The young fae quickly got up on her paws when the pup was finally up. Pain shot through her body from her injured leg as she did so due to the sudden movement, which made her way up a bit difficult and awkward.
Any thought that may have started to flow through her mind was abruptly interrupted as she finally spotted the source of the sound. There, standing at nothing more than a few feet away, was another fae. The second she saw her, Vanya proceeded to move in front of Akai automatically, as if to create a protective wall with her body in case something happened. The pup just watched with interested at the scene in between her legs, but he didn’t move nor did he make the slightest sound, for he knew that something was the matter in his caretaker was so tense, even if he wasn’t quite sure of what was it.
The young fae then took a second to examine the other femme. She was tall and slender, her built was elegant and everything about her came in blue tones, which caught Vanya’s interest for a moment. But what definitively caught her attention was her posture though, she stood there with such confidence, as if she owned the lands they were in … Wait, that must be it: she did own the land. Oh god, now this was awkward. This was so not the way she expected to meet a member of the pack that inhabited this forest, especially if it was someone that held a high rank. She swallowed it all though; this was the opportunity she had been waiting for, and she wouldn’t let it go to waste.
The other femme didn’t seem to be a threat to them … for now. Or at least she hadn’t shown any sign of hostility, which deep inside really calmed Vanya, seeing as she was in no shape to be fighting around. Yet, despite the exhaustion, the pain she felt, and her rapidly pounding heart, the young fae managed to stand with the confidence that was natural on her; her inner fire burning vividly in her eyes. She did try not to look disrespectful to the other femme though, keeping her posture rather neutral and attentive.
Her slender body was tense, but she tried for it not to be too obvious. It was indeed gracefully built; delicate and feminine, and every proportion seemed to be perfect on her. Her soft light brown fur was neither too long nor too short, but it was thick enough to protect her against the cold that was to come with the nearing winter. She was, in all, definitively not bad to look at to say the least. And yet she was not big, she was actually a bit smaller than your average female, and she knew it; but normally her fiery and relentless temper and her mental power would make up for that when it came to defend herself.
Meanwhile Akai got up on his paws and approached Vanya a bit more, seeking comfort and protection since he had seen the other femme as well, and it made him nervous. He had yet to get over his fear and distrust of strangers, but to be honest who could blame him? It was by the doing of strangers that he had lost his mother and his sibling after all, and being just a pup that had left a deep mark on him.
As much as she abhorred being submissive to others, Vanya decided that it was time for her to be humble and well behaved if she wanted to avoid troubles. She took a step to the front, but soon she wished she had not because she had been unprepared for the shot of pain that shook her body when she did so, and thus she almost lost her balance as she cringed. She did manage to keep her composure though, and she stopped where she was in order not to invade the other femme’s personal space. Akai followed her, though he was a bit unsure of what she was doing. Soon she decided to speak; otherwise this would never be done. “Greetings”, she started as she bowed her head politely. “I’m sorry for our intrusion. My name's Vanya, and this here ..", she paused a second then to look at the pup before returning her attention to the other fae,"... is Akai. We were looking for the pack that rules over this forest in order to join them … Am I correct to assume that you a part of it?”
OOC - Omg, this is madness! Just look at the lenght of this thing: 1,682 friggin words! xD This thread is like a battle of titans, filled with uberly long posts lol

The was something familiar about the female. That's what first struck Minou even before the female had moved. It was an odd feeling, one she wasn't sure she liked. She knew she didn't know this fae and yet something struck her as such. She took a small step back, tilting her head in confusiong before her resolve hardened and she planted her feet again. What was it that grabed her and flicked her memory? What was it that had the want to figure it out rattling around like a rat in a cage? How unusually that this random wolf - one with a pup no less - would try to jog her memory. But the real problem was what made Minou blink and cock her head as if she could roll the answer to everything into one side of her brain and into her frontal lobe. But it didn't work, and still there was that nagging sense of knowing and it made her pelt wish to twitch. She tried to find what was being this, staring at the two wolves with eyes that found everything but were not intrusive.
They were not physically like any wolves she'd met before. The female was small. Really small. Minou herself wasn't big in muscle but her legs gave her added height. The pack she'd grown up in had been a mountainous one, with big wolves being the norm. This females coat was an average wolf color. It was pretty, soft looking. An earthy brown with some black hairs flickered about. A nice coloring, but one that wasn't unusual or shockingly different. True, the fae was far from plain and now that Minou had seen her it would be impossible to mistake the fae for another. Minou was a visual wolf, as well as one that recognized by scents. She liked knowing appearances as well for when the wind wasn't cooperating that day. But as pretty as the small-ish fae was, she was no one Minou had ever seen. But if it was not physically, then what was it? Minou's eyes dropped to watch the curled pup and her mind flickered back to another pup she'd known well.
Of the same age, that slightly long legged gait of a puppy still pronounced. Fur not yet completely out of its fluffy pup stages. Still small, far from grown. But he had not been her pup. No, Minou had never had young. It had been her sisters first offspring. Sifura, along with her mate Fyer, had brought one of the few of a type into the world. Rae's pelt had been the regular hue of a forest wolf, thanks to his brown timber sire. The orange-red of his mother trailed in with his ears and other highlighted points. And blue tints, one that moth Minou and Rinso had shared, were beautiful in the lighter areas of belly and chest. It was not Rae's physical form that left him imprented into Minou's vast memory. It was how pure he had been. Always curious, always bright. He had been an old soul, smarter than he should be, calmer when many his age still squeaked, but he remained carefree. Yes, he had been one of a kind. And he had been slaughtered.
Minou blinked her eyes, blocking out the brief flash of red that slid from her brain. No, she did not need to think of such things. This was another pup, very different from the little soul lost long ago. And yet he was not the one she recognized. He was more of the reason she seemed to know the female. What an odd difference, she thought, tilting her head at the two. Food for thought, she decided wryly, not rally pleased with the occurance. How odd. She shook her head again, still trying to shake the thoughts away. It still wouldn't go away, but it faded as she noticed the female stir. Both her eyebrow ridges rose and she smiled slightly in approval. Good. Some wolves she knew slept liek the dead and had no attention. This fae, though, was on guard even as exhaustion had claimed her body. They had not slept long, but it would be enough. They were looking for a home, these two.
And Minou knew this too. She didn't intrude on their minds for this information. Minou had learned the difference between loners passing and those coming for the shelter and consitancy of the pack. It could be a smell, or it could be a sense of something. Sometimes it was a smell of lonliness. It was just the search, a hunt for something they couldn't find in the loner lands that called them to packs such as Toko. And Toko was a good pack. It seemed that the packs - though not seperating them - had some things they needed. Minou felt Toko's was loyalty. Or to her that's what the pack represented. She did so love the feel of the pack around her. Specially as she got over. True she was still young and healthy, but she already knew this was wear she was going to die, and be burried. And if the ancestors graced her she'd have a mate and young here to carry on her line.
She sighed out a brath and then her eyes darted up from her feet where they had rested as the faes voice met her audits. The triangular appendages twitched and MInou lifted her head curiously. The voice was female, that meant the name - Kai - had been for the little one at her side. Minou tilted her head. She could sense the gruff love in the fae's tones and another strike of recognition danced through Minou. And even in her calm personality a shard of irritation leaked out and she narrowed her eyes. This was getting annoying. She shoved it away, this time with more than thoughts but with her powers. A wall was built between the sense and her frontal lobe. She'd take it down later and dig through the feelings, but for now she had a job. She needed to make sure thesew olves did not see her as a threat and be welcomed to the pack.
Breath wisped in front of the blue Betess as the female rose and hid the pup behind her. Minou didn't comment, understanding it. She was a threat for just being unkown, but it did not bother her. The protective stance of the other meant more to Minou than to the pup. It meant she was a strong fighter, ready to defend against things she did not understand or know yet. Of course, Minou could be a danger if she was any other wolf. She tilted her head and smiled kindly as the fae took a step forward but Minou - even without trying - detected the flash of pain. The Betess stepped forward, ears sliding back slightly. She was hurt? How bad, Minou wondered. She had felt the injury, but when the female was resting it was not so bad. She decided to ask about it, after introductionw ere made. Minou didn't think the female would appreciate it if she pointed it out first thing.
The pup followed but Minou knew that paying more attention than neccessary to the young one would not be appreciated. The fae spoke and Minou remained politely silent. The loner was respectful and Minou smiled friendily at her, flicking her ears forward. Vanya and Akai. Or Kai as he seemed to be called with more affection than Vanya would admit. She waited a moment after the female fell silent but responded in quickly enough so it would not be considered rude. Her words slid out in the normal tones for her. Liquid. Only way to discribe it. It rose and fell like music but had no real pattern. "Welcome to Toko Forest packland, Vanya, and...Akai," she murmured, her voice bold and strong even as she tilted her head and lowered it to spot the pup behind Vanya as she said his name. Her eyes smiled peacefully at them both as she rose again and tilted a small bow to Vanya. "You are correct. I am Minou, Betess of this pack. You are welcome to join, as are all loners with good intentions," she said, swishing her tail back and then forth in a smooth motion.

VANYA & AKAI To tell the truth Vanya was a bit nervous as she waited for the other femme’s response. Why nervous? She wasn’t even sure about the answer to that herself. Maybe it was because she didn’t exactly know who she was meeting here; or maybe it was because, in her opinion, her previous display had been rather … unbefitting. What with sleeping while she was supposed to stand guard and being caught out of guard like that. Though when she heard the blue fae’s voice something deep inside of her stirred, and it seemed to reassure her: she didn’t need to worry about this female. In fact, she seemed friendly enough, and for some reason Vanya felt rather comfortable and at peace around her, which made her relax her stance a bit. Even young Akai, who was so distrustful of strangers, seemed to have calmed down a bit. Though he remained as close to his caretaker as possible without uttering a sound, still a bit defensive.
The young femme could have sighed in relief after the other female finished what she had to say, though she avoided since it would have made her look quite desperate or something of the like in her opinion. So this was the Betess of these lands, Minou was her name. This certainly was a lucky encounter. Maybe fate had already had enough of being cruel and bitchy and throwing her wrath in the young fae’s direction all the time. Though Vanya didn’t really know if that was the case, so she decided she couldn’t just waste this opportunity.
She waited just the correct amount of time before replying in order not to look impolite. She was after all threading with the higher ranks of the pack here, giving a bad first impression was the last thing she wanted. “I see … It is a pleasure to meet you Minou. And I must thank you for welcoming us into your lands”, she said with a slight bow of her head. “I assure you our intentions are not bad, as we’re just looking for a place we can call home”. She paused a second at this before continuing, “If you’d be willing to take us in I can promise you my unconditional loyalty”. Yeah, she couldn’t really speak for Akai about this matter since he was just a pup, but she was being honest here, as could be seen by the determination written in her face as she said this. Anyway, even if she actually had intended to be untruthful to the pack, Vanya wasn’t really what one would call “talented in the art of betrayal” and things as such. She just didn’t work that way, and in fact, she wasn’t really fond of those who did.
Though to an attentive spectator something in this scene would have jumped to the eye. Yes, something seemed to be off as the young fae stood there facing Minou. As much as she was trying to keep her composure and speak as normally as possible, it was easy to tell that her stance was a bit … out of place. Though she was making a great job of hiding it. The femme was indeed trying her best to put as little weight as possible on her injured leg, but at the same time she was trying not to give away her weakness, since it normally wasn’t well seen as far as she knew. And it wasn’t all that noticeable really, but it certainly made her stance look a bit awkward if one was to pay attention to it. Yes, the pain had started to overwhelm her some time ago, and it irritated her to no end: she would so not bend over a little pain. So, without even noticing it she let a soft, involuntary growl out as she shifted her weight, forcing more of it on her injured leg in order for her stance to look a bit more natural. Of course this almost made her flinch as a sharp wave of pain hit her, but she held her ground. Her face didn’t betray anything either, as her expression was just as calm and attentive as it always was.
Of course Akai did notice Vanya’s strange behavior since the very beginning rather easily, seeing as he was right behind her, and he was quick to react. He knew that his caretaker would not be too fond of drawing too much attention to her weakness because of some foolish action, so he decided that he would draw the other female’s attention to himself while Vanya straightened herself. Yeah, that seemed like a good enough plan in his innocent mind. So he gathered his courage as he moved between Vanya’s legs, finally popping his head out in between her front legs. The young fae just looked down at him in surprise as he looked up at her: what on earth was he doing? He then proceeded to give a few more steps to the front, until his caretaker was behind him. The only reason why Vanya hadn’t forced the pup to go back yet was because she actually didn’t feel like Minou was a threat to him, so instead she let him do whatever he was planning on doing.
When he reached the desired spot he sat down on his haunches, blue pools staring at the other female intently. Even if he felt the urge of running back behind Vanya, and to the security she offered him, he just stayed there and cleared his throat briefly as if he was going to say something. He straightened himself a bit before speaking. “So …”, he started hesitantly, “Does that mean we can stay?”, he asked rather bluntly. His wings twitched slightly as he said this; he actually hoped they could stay, that way they finally wouldn’t need to travel anymore.
Vanya just rolled her eyes as she listened what he said; she should have known that he was going to do something stupid. It wasn’t what he said that cause this reaction on her, but rather the way he said it; in such a casual and blunt way, as if it wasn’t the Betess of these lands he was speaking to. An annoyed grunt escaped her lips before she addressed the pup. “Respect Kai, respect … How many times have I told you?”, she mumbled. The black pup almost jumped when he heard her scolding voice. He turned to look at her quickly as his little ears quickly flattened against his skull. “Sorryy”. The young fae just sighed as she moved to stand besides him with an almost unnoticeable limp, she couldn’t blame him after all; he was just a pup. She then turned her attention to Minou once more, ears sliding back slightly in an apologetic gesture. “Please forgive him, he tends to be a bit … impulsive sometimes”. The black pup just remained where he was, suddenly finding the ground beneath him quite interesting, as his eyes wouldn’t stop staring at it. He just looked like a scolded child, which he was actually.
OOC - Sorry for the horrible post, my muse kind of died and I've been struggling with it to be able to write something at least slightly decent Dx

The female was grateful. That was all it took for Minou. She had felt that this female was of worth, one she would be happy and very pleased with being in the Toko forest pack. When a loner displayed gratitude, not just for herself but also for her pup, it meant something more than just a loner looking for a home and safety from Lucid. It meant that she would be part of the pack, that she had hoped to be allowed to join. Minou had delt with enough loners to know the feel of one who could care less. The blue fae did not want any wolves that did not care. And seeing that this fae actually did was good. Minou loved that. She held a lot for loyalty, since her own was so strong to the pack she had been in for more than three years. It was a good, solid first impression, and, Minou smiled knowingly, the new female didn't even understand what she had done.
And even though the sense of knowing was there, Minou had controlled it and the here-and-now Vanya was taking her attention as it should be. Minou's large, triangular audits tipped forward more, if that was even possible, as the female spoke again. She was polite, her words chosen well. Neat. Nice. Minou liked this female a lot. She didn't really know why, she wondered, but it was a sense of liking. Just like with Weylyn and the other pack wolves she shared this land with. This female would be home here. She let a beat pass before answering. "You will be welcomed here. I offer you my home as your own." She said it gently, before her light keen eyes settled back on the fae's legs. She was weaker there, the pain Minou had felt earlier, before she'd even talked to the female, was stronger than ever.
The Betess tipped her ears back slightly, a small, liquid twirl. That wasn't good. And she would have it. This female was going to live in her pack, and she felt pain. And why should she have to? Minou's powers of healing were known well enough, and the Betess liked to think it was a helpful tool to have for the pack. She'd been told she was good, but Minou didn't think so. She just knew what she was doing. Her slim paws moved forward one step and she tilted her muzzle as she thought quickly of words that could surely not offend the proud, protective mother. "You seek a home here, but you are injured. I can feel it, a bit, with my powers of telepathy. Just the cusp of your mind hold the throb of energy." She offered the worlds low, but easily, showing no high pitched worry. It would upset the pup. "It is nothing to worry about, yes, but it is still a trouble," said Minou, her eyes showing she understood the female's need to hide the weakness from the pup.
But then the little one stepped forward and she didn't offer, instead, giving the young pup her attention. He would be a big wolf, a strong wolf, she could already tell. He would be a warrior, a proud, strong wolf. She smiled slightly, just a twitch of her blue lips. Fanciful, yes, but he was a bold creature. He stopped, not far away, but a good distance. He probably did not realize he was in her reach if she so wished, safe as Vanya made him feel. But she didn't comment, because she was no danger and none walked in this territory that would hurt a pup. He was darkly colored, his little wings still useless, his eyes bright and wise for one so young. She understood he had something to say, sos he did nothing but cock her ears forward and look down at him, a patient, gentle expression of her slim canine face.
His question was odd, and it made her a little sad. Just the tone, the words. Like they had been cast out before. She sighed, mentally, not understanding the world and it's cruelty, even though she accepted that it was there and a fact of life. She opened her muzzle to speak, but her gaze traveled to Vanya as the female spoke up and moved forward. Minou lifted an eyebrow. Was she expected to attack this small mind for seeking answers? Was that the image she gave? Or the image they had known? Thoughts and questions to be answered in time. She flicked a paw to Vanya, a elegant gesture and shook her head slightly. "No...do not chastise a seeking mind. It is the sign of growth, and of the wolf he will be," she said, smiling charmingly. She turned her attention to the young, staring to lightly at the ground.
An amused smile tugged her maw and she let it go as she stepped forward, almost all the way in front of him, and to most wolves it would be surprising, the tall Betess sat, and then crouched down, her face at the pups level as she blinked at him, blue eyes to blue. Far enough away to not be a threat, close enough to see his different hues. "You may stay for as long as you like. No more traveling. Toko Forest has accepted you. And Vanya, Akai. And we are loyal wolves here. My word shall never be broken."

VANYA & AKAI Vanya instinctively backed up when the blue femme mentioned her injury, but then she realized what she was doing and stopped. Why was she backing up? It seemed like she could trust this fae, so there was no reason to be so self-conscious. It probably was just the habitude of being over protective of the ones around her and of herself in order to live.
She was thankful that Minou actually seemed to understand that she didn’t want to worry the pup. She had managed to convince him that it was just a minor scratch, though it obviously wasn’t. She had the feeling that he didn’t totally believe it either, but he normally didn’t comment on it. She was about to reply to what the other femme had said, but then Akai popped in and interrupted whatever exchange was going on between both females.
If it hadn’t been for the smile that adorned her face, Vanya would have sworn that Minou was actually scolding her for scolding the pup after he interrupted the Betess. Not that she would have done something if she had actually scolded her anyway. This fae was probably older and wiser than her, and something deep inside of her being pushed her to respect her under all circumstances. So she didn’t say anything and just smiled back in understanding.
She was quite surprised when she saw Minou lower herself to the ground though, just so she could be eye-level with the pup. And Akai seemed to be equally surprised since he turned to look at Vanya briefly with his ears tilted to back, doubt reflected in his cobalt eyes. She just gave him a reassuring look before both of them turned to look at the Betess again.
Akai fixed his bright gaze on her as she spoke. He was curious, but his little ears perked up as he listened attentively to her words. Her voice was soft and friendly so he felt strangely secure even if he had just met her. Vanya just watched without saying a word, a small smile tugging on her lips the whole time as she watched the interaction between Minou and Akai. She would have sit down while doing so, but for now the mere thought of putting even the slightest amount of strain to her injured leg was unappealing to her, so she decided to just stay up on her paws.
Akai’s expression slowly changed from pure curiosity and interest to excitement and happiness as the Betess’ words sunk in. His young eyes lit up with emotion as a grin graced his face. He suddenly got up, tail wagging. “Really?”, he asked happily. He then looked up at Vanya again. “Did you hear that V?”. Excitement was clear in his voice as he said this. The young fae snorted in amused in amusement at the pup’s reaction, though her gaze was soft and a small smile adorned her expression. “I did Kai”.
Now Vanya was convinced that coming here had been the right decision. Ever since she had found Akai she had assumed that it was her responsibility to raise him even though she was only stepping out of her puphood herself … Physically and when it came to experience at least, because she had been forced to mature when she younger in order to survive.
It had been hard for the both of them at first, seeing how she was inexperienced and totally clueless when it came to taking care of a pup. But eventually she got the handle of it, and after a few weeks none would have thought that she was new to this. She knew however that living as a loner wasn’t easy, and she did want a proper environment is she was to raise the young one on her own, which was what had driven her to seek the pack in the forest.
Now she realized that maybe she wouldn’t have to do everything on her own as she was used to anymore. It had taken its time, but realization was finally starting to sink in her mind. She now had a pack, she wasn’t alone anymore, and just having that knowledge comforted her in an amazing way. It seemed to even soothe her pain and exhaustion slightly … Or maybe she was just imagining things.
Vanya directed her attention to Minou again, after having been watching the overexcited pup for a moment. She didn’t say anything though, and she probably didn’t need to, seeing as her green amber pools seemed to be reflecting what she was thinking. She was thankful, yes, but she couldn’t deny she was excited as well. She wondered what kind of wolves were her new pack mates, and she was already eager to meet them.
Akai on the other hand seemed to be focused on his own joyful thought. Though Vanya wouldn’t have been surprising if it turned out he was just plotting ways of teasing his new pack mates. The pup’s cheerful voice quickly brought her attention to him thought. “Hey, do you think maybe I will be able to learn how to use these?”, he said as he stretched his dark wings, wonder and excitement reflected on his face. The young fae looked at him for a second before replying. “Mhm, probably …”. She then turned her attention to the blue Betess again; wonder dancing in her light amber orbs.
Vanya felt way more comfortable around her now, and it was obvious not only not only in the way her posture had changed to a more relaxed stance despite the pain on her leg, but also in the way her words flowed more naturally. “I assume there are some winged wolves in the pack that could help him with that, isn’t it?”, she asked nicely. “Akai has been wanting to learn to flight for some time now … But as you may see flight just isn’t my specialty”, her tone was slightly amused as she was obviously referring to her lack of wings. She could teach the pup many things, but flight was just out of her reach. “I mean … I could try, but I think all I would be able to teach him is how to have one nasty fall”, she chuckled softly at this, picturing the whole scene in her mind.
OOC - So sorry for the delay, my muse just wasn't collaborating all x.x And this is what I would call a very random and weird post. I didn't really know how I could reply so I put a bunch of everything together lol. And about the promise ... I know Dx. It wasn't intended to be that way though, I just needed something to fill in that space xD

The look in the eyes of both wolves hit Minou in a deep place she had forgotten existed. She had accepted wolves so often, with such consistency that it had become monotone. It was a pleasure to accept them, sure, but it was a duty, and that was it. It was rare for a loner to show any actual joy in being accepted. Gratitude, yes, relief, yes. But not the bright hope shimmering the two wolves eyes before her. It hit her heart and caused her to realize she'd been loosing sight of why she was betess. She sighed out a breath, long and silent. A day for enlightenment apparently. A chore it had turned into, having to accept these wolves. And now she felt real pleasure at their reactions. She felt lighter inside, like she could relax. Her ears flicked back, amused at herself now. It was a very strange occurrence, to have herself to entrenched in wolves that had just entered the land, but there you had it. The two had already wiggled into her large, dusty heart. And no, it wasn't as if she let a conscious decision govern who she connected with. Minou just did not have the personality to love completely. Those few that received her trust were luckier than they thought. And this Vanya....Minou shadowed eyes trailed to her, yes, she would become very important indeed.
Minou did not have foresight, no, but every wolf knew when things could be important. That is why they were so revered. But what sort of importance this female would play was still unknown, and Minou couldn't wait to find out. And the pup, he would be a great warrior. And if not a warrior, a hunter. And if not that a great story teller. So many options, even in one pack. He would have a chance to be whatever he wished. But with his spirit and the way male pups were, she could already see him off to slay imaginary dangers. Even with real ones stalking the world. A thought slid through her mind, and she hoped viciously that Lucid would become a shadow in the future, a story to be told to frighting pups into going to bed, or taking a bath. An imaginary dragon to be slayed in the realm of dreams and youth. But he was far from a figment of a small mind; very real he was. Minou had yet to see him, but she knew him well. She had felt his mind. In passing, true, but she had only brushed the surface and what she had sensed had her skin crawling.
The affect of such a wolf on these lurid lands would be tragic. There would be lasting scars but to have the generations coming able to howl imaginary battle cries and attack an unsuspecting leaf who they had named after the dangerous wolf would be worth any pain and deaths received. Minou knew some wolves did not follow this thought, but many would. She would be on the front line to protect what she had come to love. And there would be a fight. There had to be one. If not, then it would mean all these wolves were just giving up. And then there would be no hope. But Aelyn breathed of the hope of generations, the peril of ancestors long passed. How could the current wolves not fight for the feeling of home Minou had found nowhere else? This was for them, and they were watched over. But mortals rarely followed what the gods had planned, and Fate must follow her road to the end. And then a new one would be made. The plan was in motion, and whatever was going to happen would. But that wouldn't stop Minou from fighting till that road dropped off.
She shook herself mentally, turning her attention to Vanya as the she-wolf and pup spoke. She sent a easy look to the fae, knowing her leg was killing her but not saying anything. It was a long hike to the camp, and the fae wouldn't make it without a bit of healing. Minou wondered if the she-wolf would allow her to help. And she understood that to worry the pup was unnecessary. Stupid even. Though she was sure Akai knew more than Vanya thought he did about the injury, she would be the one to confirm the pups thoughts over his adopted mother. Her tail swished over the ground, the soft moss cushioning her. Under her paws it was slightly crunchy from winter, but still alive in the coming of winter. She sighed as the pup spoke again, her lips pulling into a grin. Males, they were all alike. Minou rose to her paws again, settling her willowy frame in a comfortably relaxed way. In her knowledge males always wished to grow and learn. The pup had gotten over his shyness a little, and the chirping comment about his wings was such a puppish statement it made her feel good. He was still young, though his life seemed to have been long.
She hummed, as she turned her eyes to Vanya when a question was directed at her. Her eyes sharpened again and her curved audits slid forward politely. Her eyes widened then smiled at the fae. "Ah, flight. Every wolf with wings wishes to learn as soon as possible. Believe me, I know," she murmured, humor dancing in her tones. As Vanya spoke again a low, bright chuckle danced from the blue betess' throat. Her head tipped back with it and her teeth flashed brightly. She could see it now. "It isn't impossible for a wing-less teacher to teach a winged youngwolf. Birds can be watched, and the basic components, once down, lead to everything else. But it would be very difficult. And many tumblings would ensue," she spoke pleasantly, shaking her head wryly. She rose from her sitting position and stretched her spine slightly, before abruptly giving herself a sharp couple of shapes. Her wings slid from her sides. The giant feathers appendages were swift in moving out of her body, the slight glow working the skill. The dark blue stripe on each side became the dark tip of each wing feather and in only a few second Minou was folding her massive wings across her back, looking very swan-like.
"I would be willing to teach him. I have many duties, but flight is something I love to share. It would be a pleasure to train one of our young," she offered, tilting her head like a bird. Her blue nose flared as she took in the scents, catching the smell of a rabbit before she ignored it. Now was not the time to hunt. She looked Akai over and decided it was about time for the first lessons. Not flight yet, of course. His wings needed to get a bit bigger before they could hold his weight for short crow hops, but working on the anatomy and how the wing itself worked, the way to hold them, and for taking him up with her so he could get used to the weightless feeling of flying. It would not be what he wanted, she knew, but it would be the start of understanding and controlling the appendages without actually thinking about every move they made. It was second nature to Minou to fly, to tilt her wings and catch the warm air currents, to turn. But it was learned.

VANYA & AKAI Akai was dumbfounded, to say the least, when he saw the blue femme in front of him deploy her large, bluish wings. His bright blue orbs glistened with amazement, and Vanya couldn’t help but to chuckle inwardly in amusement at his totally childish expression. To tell the truth she was rather surprised as well, but she kept her cool: having one pup around was enough; there was no need for her to be reacting like a kid to such things as well. She couldn’t blame the pup though, after all neither of them had expected the Betess to actually have wings, since they weren’t visible at first. She had seen many winged wolves through her life, but never had she seen any of them carry their wings in such a particular and, in her opinion, practical way.
“Whoa”, mumbled the pup mostly to himself, excitement clear in his voice. He looked at Minou’s wings with interest for a moment, his own appendages twitching unconsciously. A bright grin slowly crawled up his lips as he listened to the Betess’ words. This was the opportunity he had yearned for. He knew that this was something Vanya couldn’t teach him, or not easily as the Betess had said. He did really appreciate everything that the young femme had taught him though, and everything she had sacrificed for him as well. Some may have thought that he was oblivious to everything due to his puppyish naïveté, but the truth was that he wasn’t. He was actually quite aware of pretty much everything around him, but normally he just kept quiet about it. He too had been forced to mature in his short life after all.
Even though it was the blue femme that was offering to train him by her own free will, he couldn’t help but to feel that this was just another of those things that Vanya gave him without expecting something in return. Just like food, protection, company, and love? It was her that had decided to seek to join this pack after all, and now it had been her as well who had asked the Betess about flight. And before that it had been her who had jumped in the middle of danger without thinking it twice to save his life, and now thanks to that it was her who was injured, and he was unscathed. This course of thoughts had made his once bright gaze to actually darken a bit. He suddenly felt guilty; because in his mind it was because of him that she was now in pain, even though she probably didn’t deserve it. And in his mind it was also his fault that what had been bad to begin with, was now worse. He knew that having to hunt and travel had made that thing in her leg worse, even if she always said it was fine.
Akai turned to look at her then, ears lightly tilted to the back. The young femme did notice the disturbed look in his eyes, though she just didn’t understand the reason behind it. After all she was pretty sure that he did want to learn to fly, and that he was quite pleased with Minou’s proposition. The problem was that she was no telepath, and thus she had no way to know what was the actual reason of this sudden change of mood. She decided that maybe he was just nervous or worried; after all he had never done this before. Convincing herself that that was the cause for his strange behavior, she gave him a warm and reassuring smile before turning to look and the Betess again. She shifted her weight slightly to keep her injured leg from hurting too much before speaking. “I must thank you for your offering”, she said with a smile. “I just hope this won’t interfere with your duties too much”. She then turned her attention to Akai, who hadn’t said anything yet, and cleared her throat to get his attention.
The pup snapped out of his thoughts as he heard the sound, and reacted immediately, his cheerful mood coming back out of nowhere. “Oh! Oh yeah … I mean, that would be awesome!”, he said happily as he wagged his tail, his bright blue eyes were focused on Minou again. This time he did remember his manners though, not wanting to get scolded again for not showing the proper respect to the Betess. “Thank you”, he said honestly, a smile plastered on his face as he sat down. For a moment Vanya had actually been worried that wasn’t feeling well or something because of the strange and sudden behavior he displayed a moment before. These thoughts were forgotten when she saw him turn back to normal as fast as the first change had occurred. Now things seemed to be fine once more. Except for … Oh yeah, she was suddenly reminded of the one thing that wasn’t all right as a short pang of pain shot through her body. ‘Right …’. She decided to be optimistic though, just thinking that it would be okay ... eventually.
OOC - Uhm .. Sorry for the crappiness of this post, I was at work and being interrupted every 5 min Dx
