Ruh
"You come around When you finally face this" "You come around When you find me faceless"
xxxxx Something had driven him from the wild. The call that had claimed the free lands had utterly reminded him of the howl that Neamhord had called out after killing his father. It had shaken the pup he was then to the core, and this call had also shaken him.
He had bolted.
He didn't know which direction he was headed in, but he needed to get away from that sound and soon found himself lost. He padded lightly into the new terra and looked around. His copper and white tail was lowered, the chain links dragging from his ankles clinkings against small rocks on the ground, and his ears cocked forward to listen for any signs of danger. The small bell attached to his ear jingled with every step; every movement; every twitch of a muscle.
He was still frightened from that howl. Some wolves, as he had passed them, had said it came from a monster. This monster, as others said too, was named Lucid and he was an alpha. The thought made Ruh want to turn around and release his lunch onto the ground. How could something so evil sounding belong to an alpha? How could an alpha claim those who wanted to be free? It made him sick.
Well, if he had to be somewhere, why not here? Throwing his head back, he let a short howl come from his maw. It was just a signal. There was no emotion to his call, what-so-ever. He was not willing to reveal that much to anyone just yet. They didn't need to know that he was broken inside.

Her leg lowered and she sniffed daintily at the mark she had left. Not as strong as a males', since the marks left by them were loaded with testosterone, but it still labeled this land as claimed and settled by a leader. She ran her dark blue tongue over her slim muzzle before deciding it was done for now. Until Tyrome returned or decided he cared again she would refresh them every day. She turned back into the lands, her long, slim legs jogging lightly over the soft turf that was so much a part of Toko Forest. Trees rose high around her an even with the nip in the air it was nice out. The sky glimmered and the trees splashed shadows over her water-like pelt. She didn't make much sound, even with her tail swinging from left to right behind her, long hairs brushing leaves and leaving her scent everywhere it touched. Her small paws with there dainty claws gripped the earth precisely and she moved deliberately with the gait of someone well aware of their place in the area.
She was a pretty female, if one was into her type. She was slim, with a body longer than most wolves. Much like the borzoi with legs much longer, she was a graceful looking creature. Her chest was not so large, but it did dip sharply after her ribcage. Her neck was proportioned to her body, her skull thin and muzzle overly long. But she was still wolf enough to have no mistakes made. She had aspects that many wolves in Aelyn did, oddities that are not found in the human world. From the top of her skull to her tail she has feather, the same slight blue of her peltage with dark blue tips. Her sides were also marked with the same dark gray-blue. And while many wolves have black around their eyes, black gums and noses and other sorts of things, hers were that same gentle dark color. Her eyes though, were a bright light blue within the watery shimmer of her pelt and the calm dusky blue of accents.
As she ran, she lifted her nose and her nostrils flared, bringing in scents but she slowed as a small click of sound caught her attention. Her eyes looked around and she heard it again as she stopped. She turned and started toward it even as she stretched her mind to find what was making the sound. But she had her answer before she made contact. A small howl, slight and giving nothing away. Her eyes arched curiously, gently, and she slid into a long legged lope through the land, bounding over trees and roots and bumps she had long ago memorized. She slowed once again, walking lightly through the trees. From her muzzle came a slight woof as she slipped through the trees toward the lanky form of the male. He was a lovely copper, shining as her blue pelt shone and she dipped her head lightly, sensing he was hesitant. Or he just didn't feel comfortable.
"Greetings, loner. I am Minou. You howled, yes?"

Ruh
"You come around When you finally face this" "You come around When you find me faceless"
xxxxx Ruh heard the woof and his dark green eyes snapped to attention, focusing on the odd fae whom had made her presence. His ears cocked forward, the bell on his ear jinlging once again. His eyes narrowed and his tail made parallel with the ground. Was she a friend or foe? Realistically, he should have waited to make his presence known until after his nerves had settled down from being scared witless of Lucid's howl.
But he was here now, and that was all that really mattered. His eyes roamed over the feathered wolf with a calculating gaze. She looked not wolf... but wolf at the same time. Her coat seemed to shine in a similar way to his own. She spoke to him, and not one to be rude, especially to female's, he replied meekly. "Greetinz to you, too, Mizz. The namez Ruh, and yez. 'tiz me who how'ed." His tail lowered a bit, his ears sliding back as he let down his guard a bit. He walked closer to the fae, up to her side and gave her a cheeky grin. "And howz doez one, such as me, join a pack with one such beautifu' az yurself?" He spoke, his impediment giving him funny speech skills, and that was already adding on to his chopped up grammar skills. He hoped she would understand him. Many wolves he had met didn't and he was always made fun of for it. Of course, that was when he was acutally with other wolves when he was a pup.
But nowadays, many faes he had come across had found his speech default somewhat charming. Not that he wasn't charming without it. He was a player, sometimes, but knew when he held actual affections for another- it just took him a while to realize it. But once again, he was a player and often liked to toy with the emotions of smaller apponents. He liked to play games with their minds and bodies- sometimes driving them mad. But he had toned that down since his pup days and was now someone who just did it on occasion, and was not aiming to break anyone. ooc;; If you can't understand his speech, please tell me so I can fix it up ^^;[/blockquote] Reason for Editing: adding ooc note xD forgot it

The young wolf's eyes slid to her at her sound and she titled her head at him in response. He was a youngwolf, just coming into adulthood. Her eyes trailed over the chains and she wondered how he ever caught anything with a gentle musing of a concerned parent. The sounds his accessories made were loud and clear, and she could feel any prey within the area moving away from them. But she let the thought slip away, knowing the male wouldn't appreciate her mentioning it even to ask. Her feathers slicked back and she flicked her tail high, curling it over her rump so it tickled her spine slightly. A clear indicator of her rank, even though she had yet to say it. She watched him with liquid eyes, smooth and calm and serene. His reply, when it came, was softly and hesitant. She remained silent but a moment, collecting her thoughts and analyzing his speech. She accepted it, knowing more difficult voices in the past, and knowing he had more to say, waited.
When he moved closer she - in reflex - tensed and her head feathers rose a bit in warning. Young he was, but he was still a male and she was not all that physically strong even if she wasn't weak. Her power lay in her control over her mind, not in her muscles. She did not know him. But she did not move back. Minou held her ground, paws firm as a bolder side of the new male shone through. His smile revealed the reason behind his accent, the grin one of a self assured male. She resisted the urge to roll her eyes and instead smiled gently pack, the calm expression never failing even as her eyes twinkled in humor at him. Such a young wolf, so much a brute already. His words were flattering, but she had lived long enough to know teasing instead of taking things as truth. As he fell silent her slim skull swayed back and forth wryly.
"I thank you for the compliments. I am Betess here and it is easy enough to become one of the pack of Toko." Her reply was laced with pleasure at meeting such a lively fellow and her tail curled around and she sat with a small thump upon the ground. She knew he was probably deeper than the face he was showing her, knew he was probably darker. He was a loner, and anyone who had traveled as such had secrets and pasts. It was rare one met any completely good wolves. Or those that were spotless. Her muzzle opened again to speak. "I say, Ruh, that you may join if you wish. I just hope you know that any ill will toward my pack will come forth at one point. And at that time it will become clear how we monitor our lands," she said just a smoothly, the same gentile smile on her muzzle. Her eyes were firm though, blunt truth she spoke. It was not a threat, just information he would need to know. She would not handle for those who wished her fellows harm.

Ruh
"You come around When you finally face this" "You come around When you find me faceless" xxxxx Ruh could tell that this fae was of importance in the pack he was now wanting to join. Her stance held status and though he didn't know what position in the pack she held, he assumed she was strong for getting that far and looking as she did. When she told him of her being the betess, he couldn't help the sly grin that curled at the corners of his lips. "Somethinz az gorg'ez az yurself iz a b'tezz?" He asked out loud. It wasn't a question meant to be answered, but more of a compliment on her stunning looks. He edged away from her, giving her personal space as he found that she didn't look nearly as beautiful when she was tense as when she was relaxed like she had been before.
He sat down, his tail swaying back and forth along the ground. "Iz that a promiz?" He let out a bark of a laugh, trying to lighten up the mood that had settled around. "But, duz thiz mean I'mz in th' pack?"
His tail thumped harder against the ground at this prospect. It had been so long since he had been in a pack. The last time he was in one, it had been destoryed when he was a pup by the monster named Neamhord. He loathed that name and was frightened by it all in the same. He honestly wanted to forget those terrible, he wanted to forget the sight of his brother, Alee, dead on the ground. What could Ruh have done? He had been nothing but a pup then, did he honestly think he could change what had happened? Did he honestly think he could have prevented his mother from being locked in eternal battle with the monster?
His body shook, like he was trying to shake off the memories and cleanse his body. But they kept coming back like flies to a corpse. But he turned his head toward Minou with a smile on his muzzle. Surely, if something so pretty and friendly were the betess of this pack, the rest of them couldn't be that bad. Right?

His words were not taken seriously and she didn't respond to them. She did wonder briefly, though, if his comment was slightly sexist. Or just stereotypical, but if it was she didn't worry about it. She had earned her place, her her mind was quick and strong event hough she was what wolves called 'beautiful'. Really, she was lovely in a unique way. Her odd features making her a ethereal beauty that wasn't something other wolves wanted to date, but were fine just watching. This she had learned and accepted. Well...mostly. Her long tail flicked lightly and she watched the copper male with still eyes as he moved away. Polite creature at the moment, and she gave a slight nod that gave acknowledgment to his movement and her appreciation for space. It was not that she didn't not trust him, she just didn't know him and for that she would remain at a distance. She was not one for physical touches anyway, but when she made contact it was deliberate.
He sat down and she followed the motion smoothly. She made no real sound as she settled and his light jingling echoed in her ears. A sound she did not find annoying, but sort of soothing in a way. His barking laugh had a small chuckle sliding from her dark blue lips and she didn't respond for that wasn't a real question either. It was not a promise, nor was it a threat. Just a fact, one he knew and was not to try and avoid. His next words were something she could answer. he was so young still, and yet so old in his eyes. What was in his past that was so bad as to cause him such darkness? But that was not hers to know. Her feathers settled and her blue nails dug into the soil beneath her as if testing it.
"Yes, you are part of the pack for as long as you wish to stay. We are not so big, but nor are we small. Our alpha is a kind male...but as of late he has not been able to be found," she said, the quiet hesitance in her speak small and almost unnoticeable. He was gone, and that was a problem. But the new male deserved to know if he was going to join a pack without a leader. A real leader. Her eyes were slightly sad but her audits flicked and it passed by. Her mood was again light and she tilted her head at him. "So, Ruh, would you like to see the camp and choose a den for yourself?" she asked. This was an important choice to make. Since there were only two dens for regular pack members, each very big with multiple small caves were the hunters and warriors could sleep, once a claim to a bed area was taken by a wolf it was rarely changed.

"My monsters are far worse than yours" Ruh
"You come around When you finally face this" "You come around When you find me faceless" xxxxx He didn't really care for the size of the pack, just as long as there was one. Though, he supposed most packs started from nothing but one wolf and grew from there. Honestly, it was a mystery how packs formed. If wolves wanted power and thirsted to be the head honcho, just be a free wolf, don't form something where others can over throw you. But that was just Ruh's way of seeing it, after all, he had never been in a pack when he was old enough to understand the dynamics of one. By then his pack had disbanned.
He gave a small snort of indifference to the comment about the alpha being missing. And he honestly could care less. Sure, he was concerned for the pack he was joining because wasn't an alpha needed to help keep things at a balance? But he really didn't care because Ruh wasn't anywhere in the mood to ever become an alpha. All he knew about alphas were that they tended to die first if the pack was attacked. Then the pups. Then the males. Then the females- unless the attackers were claiming the pack, then they kept the females for their own selfish needs. "Theez landz arn't bath'd 'n blood, s' I s'poze yur doin' az good a job az an alph' wou'd." He commented with a cheeky grin. It was an honest compliment. He knew what happened when an alpha wasn't there. Wolves fought over what to do, and if it was within the alpha's rules, the betas had to step up and take care of everything- they had to do the alpha's job while they run away to play for a while. Yet another rank he had no interest in- betas. He didn't want to have to have the alpha's back for whatever they did. He wanted to be able to say whether he disagreed or agreed with the decision- though he wasn't sure he'd be able to do that anyways.
"Shur wou'd Mizz, 'specially if yurself is willin' to show me th' denz." More of his jumbled sweet talk fell from his maw, and in all honesty, she was very beautiful. But, courting was for another time, right now he was being included into a pack and he did not want to screw that up. His tail wagged happily, his eyes playfully gleaming with thoughts of finally being in a pack and out of the lands that had now been claimed by that monster of an alpha, Lucid.

The pack was, and always would be, the place for Minou. She was a wolf who liked to know there were wolves who depended on her. She liked to solve problems and know those around her and she didn't mind having all her secrets known. Or what the society thought was most of her secrets. She could survive on her own, she knew this for she had done it before, but being in a pack provided a stability she cherished and enjoyed completely. She was good at hunting on her own, good at avoiding strangers, good at most things. But she was excellent at caring for her pack; great at monitoring lands. She was wonderful at healing her fellows, listening to news of others and meeting new wolves coming to the packlands. She liked it, loved it. Was loyal to a fault to it.
But she always did not like some of the stress she had without the ability to fall back on an alpha. She had no mate nor any other high wolves to rest upon so she could sleep or talk over ideas. It was not the best outcome, nor one she appreciated, but you wouldn't hear her complain. She knew her job and knew she had to do it. The others rested their trust upon her slim shoulders and she had accepted the position of Betess. True it had been because Corrinth had offered it to her when he had taken a liking to her, but she had made the decision to stay and keep the title. And she was the one who proudly claimed the name of Betess when new wolves enter the lands.
But that was not the point now. He was talking and she twitched her ears, her eyes slightly curious as he spoke another one of his blunt, easy going compliments. It was odd how he passed them out, and many could take them as insults, but she understood - oddly - that he meant well. She didn't remind, only smiled lightly at him and waited for him to continue. As he spoke again she rose to her paws in one smooth motion, stretching slightly before swishing her tail back and forth high above her back. "I will be pleased to show you around," she said with a bright grin, a less gentle look, her teeth flashing. She shook her head slightly, shaking out her fur as it flowed liquid down her chest. "Follow me please. It isn't too far. Can I ask you questions as we go? I do not want to be rude but I am curious about all who come here," she spoke again as she turned in the direction of the camp and got ready to set off at a slow lope.

"My monsters are far worse than yours" Ruh
"You come around When you finally face this" "You come around When you find me faceless" xxxxx Ruh was glad that this lovely fae didn't take his words completely to heart. He was glad that she could see that they were compliments and gave her a lopsided grin. His tail waved gently back and forth as she told him that yes, she would show him around. He honestly didn't want to have to meet another wolf at this moment- yet knew he would eventually have to meet at least the alpha. That much he knew. But he didn't want another wolf to see how positively scared shitless he was of that howl. That deep howl that had settled through the lands and caused a relapse for Ruh. How many other wolves did it mess up? How many had actually done what their minds told them to and jumped to their death somewhere? He knew that his subconscious mind had told him to end his pain and misery of being alone- to go die.
Thankfully Ruh's self preservation had kicked in and he thought 'hey, I can be safe and not alone if I join a pack'. Thankfully he hadn't listened to that voice that always seemed to want to destory him - he was pretty sure that voice belonged to Neamhord, the monster in his memories - and always wanted him dead. "I'll l't you 'ead th' way, Mizz." He spoke, standing. He wondered if he would be able to use a little bit of his speed power with the fae. He wondered if she would be able to keep up if he used nearly all the speed he had. He chuckled to himself. He hadn't met a wolf yet that had been able to keep up with his power of speed. It was why he wore the bell and chains- to play games with his prey.
He stepped up beside her, but still a distance away as he didn't want to invade on her personal space again. She didn't look as pretty when she was tense as to how she was before. "Az' me an'thin', Mizz. I'll always anz'er yurself truffully." He answered her, a smirk on his lips as he looked at her. She was something. Most faes would have tried to chase him away by now, but here this fae was, letting him into her pack and willing to run beside him- and even answer some questions. "Th't iz, if yurself woul'n't mind anz'erin' a few o' my questionz." Ah, and there was his requirements. Tit for tat.

Her legs set into a smooth lope. She wasn't going for speed, but for distance. While the camp wasn't so far away, it was a fair enough distance from the pack borders to warrant a slower pace. And the male didn't know the territory. He was liable to trip over one of the many roots that covered the soft earth. She herself had had some problems with those trees, stumbling often times until she had become used to watching the earth for them even while she hunted. It was a skill all Toko pack members had to learn. It made them aware of the space, aware of other things and watchful always. Good traits to have. The only problem she was facing now was that none of the wolves had been trained in battle here. With Lucid's claim, all packs had to get ready. She didn't know how the other packs were taking it or even if their alphas were in league with the devious brute. She wanted to find out, but she didn't think it was good to visit with them as times were. The threat of not knowing and her life being lost leaving the pack to fend for itself was her deciding factor. She'd wait until a meeting was called. And bless the Ancestors, they would call one soon.
She shook her head slightly, a short motion before turning her gaze back on the male that had come to her side. He had the feel of someone much older than he looked. And of someone not to be completely trusted but she didn't think he was dangerous. Or not while he was pleased with them. Her head tilted and she wondered briefly if it was a good idea bringing him to the pack but she decided it was for the best. The loners had no where to go and he had not injured her at first meeting. While she knew he wasn't the best wolf, no one was and he was okay for her. He was more respectful than most she had met despite his odd accent. She flicked her ears toward him as he spoke again and a smile fluttered across her muzzle. He would approve with her questioning and she turned to watch where she was going, breathing in so she would know if one of the pack was headed their way.
He spoke again and she turned most of her attention to him. A bright grin curled over her long muzzle. Sure, she thought. She didn't have a problem with questions. She wasn't a secretive wolf, or she wasn't usually or completely. She didn't mind offering answers if he did the same. Her slim head nodded and turned back to the pack as she hopped a large tree root. "I will answer as you do. I don't see why I should be untruthful," she returned as she slowed a bit, knowing running and conversation didn't mix. She thought a moment of a question and then let her mouth carry it. "What part of Aelyn did you travel through before this? There are many lands, and places," she explained, tilting an ear.

"My monsters are far worse than yours" Ruh
”You come around When you finally face this” ”You come around When you find me faceless” xxxxx Ruh smiled at the fae, his mind slowly drifting back to a time when his life was peaceful. 'Alee...'
His heart and his mind ached as he thought of his lost brother who's life had been taken so young by that monster. The same monster who destroyed his family and didn't give a crap what the hell happened to anyone else. He didn't care that he had traumatized young wolves who had fled from the only home they knew so young. But the monster hadn't expected anyone to overpower him, let alone the fae that was Ruh's mother. So in total, Neamhord had left a broken pack, traumatized wolves, and left Ruh's mind a mess. Shaking himself, as if to clean himself of the dark thoughts from his mind, Ruh began to set off at a soft lope along side the beautiful fae. He actually hadn't just run along side anyone before. He actually had never run this slow before. Normally he was running to catch prey, away from too much confrontation (or wolves bigger than himself), or just running because he could. Her first question was easy enough and Ruh didn't even have to think about the answer as the words slipped easily out of his mouth. "I were travelin' in Kumor' Plainz, juz' tryin' t' make it onz my own." He replied, a grin on his face. The tip of his paw hit a root, the sharp pain making him wince, but he continued. He would have to learn how to run in these woods, especially if he were going to use his power around here. Too much speed plus one small trip could equal some massive pain for him. He breathed in slowly through his nose, letting the breath slip out through his lips even slower. He was a runner, as all wolves were naturally born, but he had perfected the art of running in his short life, having to learn to improve his unatural speed. He smirked, it was his turn for a question and these words also slipped from his maw easily. "Does yurself 'ave any siblin'z?"[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Her gentle gaze noticed he was having no real problem with the travel on the new grounds. She smiled lightly and pranced over a small group of pebbles herself. She titled her head, wondering if she was going too slow, but then wiping it from her mind. She didn't much care. This was a pace she was comfortable talking in and it wasn't a big deal. Wolves were speed and stamina, and she had both but speed was not a necessary at this time. To run just to run and not to race someplace was what she enjoyed. Her tail swished as she awaited his reply, her paws carrying her ever to the camp. She wondered which bed he would take. Of course, she wouldn't find out really. Her den was different, separate from the others for she was Betess. The regular pack members had their own large den, with multiple shallow alcoves for beds.
He spoke an answer and she turned her gaze back. Ah, so that's what brought him here. She didn't comment on it, letting it go that Lucid had basically chased the male to her land with his claiming. This was the first of many Minou expected to arrive and it wasn't much of a surprise. She wouldn't ask anymore, for most males were touchy over their bravery - or lack there of. Her ears twitched back and forth, taking in the whistle of the wind and a lone coo of a large bird. She would have to go searching for prey later, so the pack would eat. And a pack hunt was in order soon. And she needed to check on everyone's health and worries over Lucid. She sighed mentally, trying to knock the thoughts of worry out of her mind. She was supposed to be asking and answering questions, not worrying and fretting and planning her day. It was rude not to give her full attention.
He spoke again, lining up her thoughts again and she smiled slightly at his questions. Did she have sibling? Well she didn't really know. She had not seen Sifura or Rinso in....three years. Her ears lowered sadly. Her strong, massive sister. Sifura, of the reddish brown fur. Her brother, a darker, silvery blue, slimmer but no pushover. Both strong and loving, both irritating and picky as siblings were. But if they had survived after their split, Minou did not know. Even with her strong mind, she would not know. "I did; I do not know if I still do," she said, and though it sounded vague it was the truth. She would not ramble, for she did not know what information he wished for and her history was not something he would be interested in. Her head tilted and she thought up another question. "Who made your chains and earrings? They are good work. And I'm sure you were not born with them. If so I pity your mother," she said, smile lightly at her small joke.

"My monsters are far worse than yours" Ruh
”You come around When you finally face this” ”You come around When you find me faceless” xxxxx Though they were running, Ruh could hear her answer clearly. He had long ago learned to deafen the sound of the bell to his own hearing. It used to distract him as a young pup, but he learned to focus his hearing and his senses using said piece of 'jewelry'. He looked at her from the corner of his eyes, watching her carefully. "I 'ope that yurself still 'az 'em. I woul'n want t' see a sad loo' on yurself. Yurself iz much more beautifu' wit' a smilez." He wuffed, hoping that his words would at least keep the sad tone from seeping into her lovely voice once again. He would have done more to comfort the fae, but that would have been nearly impossible as they were loping along at a decent pace. That, and Ruh was focusing on not falling over the many roots and pebbles of the ground.
Speaking of siblings, his thoughts once again drifted to Alee. He remembered times when the small black wolf existed with Ruh. The two were inseperable. Ruh protected the runt when the rest of the pups of their pack picked on him. One could say that Alee was Ruh's first love- it was true. Ruh loved his brother like a brother, even long after the sould had drifted from his brother's body leaving Ruh broken inside. It was one thing Ruh wanted; to name his first born son after his brother. Alee was a name to be proud of. At least to Ruh it was.
His ears flicked forward as she asked another question and he smiled. "An ol' Sage-wuff gave 'em to m'self. Fur somez trainin' wit' my pow'r." He spoke, his eyes glinting as he recalled the old wolf who had found him and taught him to be faster than the prey around him. The sound of the chains and the sound of the bell would alert the prey, so Ruh had to learn to be faster than their senses or starve. He briefly wondered if the beautiful fae wouldn't mind him showing off, but kept that for a later time. Right now they were in the middle of questions and he didn't intend to interrupt finding out more about the feathered femme.
"'Az 'nyone ev'r court'd yurself?" Surely, someone must have tried to win the blue fae over. She was a gem that was not to be passed by lightly.

In truth this male was sweet. Or at least he was in the way he talked. She rather wondered how he'd be if all this was true. Probably not any better than any other male, she thought, amused, as her gaze flicked to the side briefly before turning back to the path. He was a sweetheart, and his accent to her, rather than being a turn off, enhanced it. Not in a cute way, but it added to him somehow. Good, she decided. Bringing a male wolf just heading into adulthood would be good for the pack. There were unattached females and the pack needed puppies. Young that would romp through camp and have no past but the one in Toko. A peaceful puphood. Or she hoped so. Lucid's reign could not last long. Could it? Someone would defeat him. And if no one else would, then Minou would try. Her loyalty to her pack called for her to try, but she didn't think only one wolf would achieve anything. More. Maybe even all of Aelyn was needed to free it from the grips of the brute.
She sighed lightly and her small paws darted over and between roots skillfully. She could smell the pack now. The thick smell of everyone combined to form one pack smell. Tyrome's scent was the strongest, but beginning to fad. The alphas and betas were the wolves that created the scent, the pack members changing it and making it a pack, but those leaders made it specific and key. Now, the member smell was overpowering even Minou's, but it was still a pack smell and strong. They were still not there, but they were close. Her ears arched, listening for the sound of wolves at camp. She wondered if anyone had grabbed any prey. And how the other pups were. And she needed reports from her pack. Her mind raced behind a serene face as she listened as Ruh spoke up again. The answer to her question.
An old sage wolf? Hmm...she had met few of them. One an old male she'd passed in her short travels here that was probably dead. Too bad, the sightless, deformed brute had been brilliant in his own odd way. But for his powers? Her eyes slid to his gifts, and wondered about his power. She decided to ask next. But for now, he was returning her inquiry. She titled her head at his question, the shock only showing in her eyes. Her jowls pulled down in a frown. Why did he care about that? She turned away a moment then, collecting herself before turning back and replying without the hint of vulnerability in her light blue orbs. "Not really, no. I remember that the alpha who was here when I arrived was slightly interested, but I was never really courted, in the way you mean." Her voice was still smooth, no giving away her touchiness of the topic.
To tell the truth, she did not need a male, nor did she really want one. She didn't need the attention, but no matter how strong of a female she was she still felt slightly pleased if she got some attention. And if she didn't really want a male, she would truly like to have offspring. Pups to cuddle. She heard his words of her beauty, but she really doubted it. Sure, she was nice, but she was just so...weird. It was unsure even to Minou how her two siblings could have been so regular, and she was feathered like some great, brainless, bird. She let the thoughts drift away and asked her question without hesitation or hint of what she was thinking. "What of your powers? How can those objects help them?"

"My monsters are far worse than yours" Ruh
”You come around When you finally face this” ”You come around When you find me faceless” xxxxx Ruh listened to the answer of the fae as the scent of a pack assaulted his nose. They were obviously getting closer to where more wolves were around more often, leaving behind a powering scent. He wondered what his new family would be like. The tone of her voice seemed... off from her earlier tone and he let out a snort at her answer. It wasn't meant in disrespect, but more in disbelief. "If myself 'ad a ch'nce, myself wou'd tak' yurself az a mate." He muttered, his eyes looking over the odd looking femme. Some wolves of these lands just looked so plain, but it was the truely odd ones that really took Ruh's eyes. "Thoze o'her wuffs w're prob'ly real stup'd." He didn't say anything further on the subject and waited for her to answer the the next question.
His lips curled back into a smile that could best be described as extremely pleased at her question. "Myself 'az th' pow'r of speed." He wuffed loudly, speeding up. He broke through ahead of her, feeling the wind whipping at his fur as he circled back to reappear back at her side in a matter of seconds. "An' theez," He flicked his ear back and forth before, the bell ringing louder, "Ar' fur enhancin' it. Myself mus' be fas'er th'n th' prey." He spoke, elaborating exactly what they were used for. And it was true, as the prey could hear him, they scattered and he would give chase. Not that they could really out run him at this age. When he was a pup, they could often out run him, but now that he was older and his skills sharper, he was good at catching small prey. Every now and again larger prey got away from him, but that happened to every wolf, right?
He thought hard about his next question. Honestly, he didn't want to see another sad look on Minou's face or hear the sadness in her tone. She was beautiful and deserved to be happy. "Whatz it l'ke? Flyin', myself meanz." He asked, looking up to the sky. He wanted to know. After all, he didn't have wings, he couldn't just escape the ground and fly. He was bound by gravity and by the harsh terrain of the earth and he just wondered, what did it feel like? He had never known another wolf with wings, so he had never had this oppritunity to ask, so he took it.

She smiled, bemused at the wolf. He was so a charmer. It was almost unbelievable how he could slip flattery out without seeming to be a player. It was a good skill to have. One he used very well indeed, she thought, turning her gaze from Ruh to the path in front of her. The ground became rougher the closer they came to camp, the trees closer together, the short bushes in greater quantity. It was almost like a barrier tot he camp, though really the camp had been made in the place that would use the densest part of the forest to the greatest benefit to the pack. She slowed even more, picking her way through. Usually she flew, circling the slightly open space and darting through trees to land in the main circle of camp. She rarely walked through the trees. Funny, she decided. Humor rarely captured her, but for the moment the thought that she was actually having to take the 'long' route to camp, was just funny.
Her mind laughed, her eyes did as well, but she didn't do so out loud. She hadn't laughed without restraint in....years. His voice had her turning back to him, moving to a walk as she recognized the last few meters to camp. She smiled lightly, her eyes warm but unbelieving. To her, he lied for that was just how she saw herself. "Very sweet words. They aren't necessary, you know. No use telling lies," she said with a wrinkle of her nose. She wondered why he was telling her these things. Not true at all, so why? Probably to get on the Betess' good side, she thought sourly, then cringed mentally. That was uncalled for and she snarled at herself and then locked it all away in that one area she always used. The baggage she carried around, all her fears were there. And sadly she didn't even know it was almost filled up. But he spoke of his power and her mind has something to occupy it. Aaahh, her mind purred at the knowledge, understanding their use now.
He had the speed, but to learn to use it with the twists and turns needed, his bells had given the prey early warning. It also made it so he would be cheating on the creatures. Deer may not have spoken the same language as wolves, but many stags were strong, and she had know of some packs who'd made pacts with them. She didn't like to see prey - even though it was prey - taken down without a chance to try its skill. But it was an inventive teaching mechanism. Her mind flicked to another wolf who'd had that power. They had not thought of that for Kerrigan, but his training had been different. Another world, another mind set. She brushed it away - as she constantly did with everything that hurt - and payed attention as he asked his question.
Shock jumped into her eyes, then surprised pleasure at the question. It was invented, and her joy in it was apparent, more than she knew. Her tail flicked and she angled her ears forward and her eyes turned far away. She searched for the words, the flavor of tones that would describe it, and found something if not what would explain. "It's like freedom. Like joy. Like home. I've flown all of my life, since my wings were large enough to hold me aloft. My father used to be mad when I cam home dusty from throwing myself off rocks trying to fly," she murmured the memory with a slow smile of remembrance. "I can rely on myself in the sky, and there is no effort to it. The feel of my muscles working. But it goes beyond that. It's like running, very very fast. In the air, I am much like you on land. My bones are too hollow for land, suited more for air or water," she explained, her tone matter-of-fact.
She breathed in as she stepped into a suddenly clear area and trotted a few feet into camp. She looked back, eyes gentle, but shielded. "It's difficult to explain. Just like how you feel when you run is hard to describe, true?" she said, flicking her ears back a bit as she looked about the camp. No wolves appeared, but they were off hunting. Or sleeping. She wasn't going to interrupt anyone or work herself by reaching out with her mind to check. "Welcome to Toko Forest camp."
ooc - sorry it turned out so long. i don't know what happened.

"My monsters are far worse than yours" Ruh
”You come around When you finally face this” ”You come around When you find me faceless” xxxxx Ruh was abashed to hear the words slip from Minou's mouth. How could she call him a liar, claim that he spoke everything but the truth. A small growl left his maw, even though he knew that it was against his best intrest to do so, as she called his words lies. "Dun be goin' roun' sayin' th'ngz l'ke whut yurself is sayin'- migh' make o'herz mad." He warned, his tail flicking angrily and his eyes averting from the fae. He didn't want her to see just how hurt he was that she didn't percieve his words as the truth. He didn't tell lies. It wasn't in him to create false tales. He spun nothing but honesty and it pained him deeply to see that this fae didn't believe him. "Myself woul'n't wizh an'one t' 'urt yurself." He muttered.
He let it drop, to answer her question and ask one himself. He was certainly entranced by the words she wove together to describe flight to him. His eyes became a bit glossed over as he tried to imagine himself floating above the trees and feeling everything Minou was describing. Smiling to himself, he looked over to the femme to answer her own question. "Myself woul'n't kno'. Myself 'az nev'r been inz th' sky'z. 'owev'r, myself azzumez: yuz."
He thought hard about the next question he would ask, and as he opened his maw to ask, they broke through to the camp. He was silent then, looking over to her as she spoke to him. "'tiz beautifu'," He murmured, soft, but loud enough for Minou to hear. "Though, myself doez see sumthin' ev'n more gorg'ez." His eyes looked over the fae's frame with even more scrutiny now that he had learned more about her. His question from earlier would have to wait for another time.

She ignored his flair of hurt. He was taking things too seriously. She also didn't pay any mind of his words about making other mad. He was lucky she was a calm female, or she would have called him out for trying to charm the betess. Her tail curled over her spine, no longer relaxed and she let her eyes settled on the male briefly, her look aloof and collected. No matter how nice she was, he would do well to remember her rank and that she had it for a reason. She did nothing else, as she turned her head back, but her tail remained nicely curled over her back, a blatant reminder. Ruh seemed to need that visual stimuli, and she felt she needed it too. She flicked her ears, a way of wiping her mind of thoughts, clearing the board in a way, so more thoughts could fill it up. And then it would repeat. She didn't really notice it. Her eyes trailed around camp, pleased it was looking clean and straight and no new deer carcass was laying in the center.
She arched her ears forward, but the male responded again, nicer this time, and she nodded, not answering verbally because it wasn't needed. That discussion was over now that the camp was in front of them. The questions could stop now. He probably wanted to find his den anyhow. All wolves liked that first. Find their den, get settled in. Minou thought ahead, to her own den, decorated to her liking and smiled slightly. Yes, they did like it. She blinked slowly and then turned her gaze to Ruh as she sensed he was going to say something else. His complement of her pack's living area had a smile gracing her elegant face, dark blue jowls pulled back, and white teeth glinting. She was glad he liked it. She was very proud of her pack, and it was always good to know it was seen as nice.
When he finished the comment, she sighed, and looked away, not saying anything about it as she stepped into the camp fully. Her paws touched soft dirt, smaller roots, and moss, but she didn't notice as she pranced forward, paws light as she stopped in the middle of the camp. She gestured to her right, to the larger rock face in the center of the others with it's back to the trees. "Alpha den. Empty as of right now." She pointed out her own den, and then the large den that would hold most of the warriors. She stepped toward it and jerked her muzzle to it. "Find you a den in there. Most are free, but don't invade anyones bed site. It will be your area for all of your time within this pack."
ooc - crap post
