Haven dipped his white maw near the almost freezing water. He inhaled deeply and took in the delicious fresh scent that emitted from its bank. He loved the smell of water, even in the dead of winter; in fact, that’s when he loved it’s smell the most. It seemed at its freshest when un tainted by flowing debris; either way, summer or winter, he couldn’t get enough of it. His large hind sat on a flat rock that jutted near the waterfalls edge. He was at the top of the large waterfall, one of his favorite places to come be by himself, the sound of falling water usually could drown out some of the thoughts and voices that came from below. He peered over the rocky ledge down to a gathering of wolves just pacing around, conversing, playing, and celebrating the joy of the new arrivals. This made him feel good inside, like maybe there was hope for this wonderful place with the coming of the alphen pups. He would have liked to sit and celebrate with the group, but he would have felt more awkward than anything amongst the moderately large group, and felt he could enjoy the occasion more up here, watching, feeling their joy. He smiled softly to himself as his scarlet, glowing red eyes continued to peer down over the ledge.
The sky was grey, as it usually was during the freezing time, and it kind of bothered him. The grey typically gave him a gloomy feeling, but not today. Today was special; it was a birthday. He sighed with a continued smile on his maw and he shifted back to be more comfortable on the rock. It didn't work. He stood up and stretched his legs and his wings, their span reaching out to their very longest length before easily, yet lazily folding back to his sides. He jumped from the ledge and headed up the river only a few yards before he stared at the water and commanded it to flow up from its course. A about a cup full of water rose from the barley flowing river in a ball shape and floated in the air until Haven parted his jaws and licked at it. He was in no hurry and lapped at it whenever he felt the sting of thirst tug at him. While swallowing one of his mouthfuls, he caught a glimpse of his red eyes reflecting in the ball and he couldn’t help but stare grudgingly to them. They were the eyes of his father’s… a constant reminder of where he really came from. .. His thoughts suddenly ran deep and fast, like a train off its tracks falling off a cliff.
Lucid is growing. He could feel it. He always gave off a power hungry vibe, acting like he was better than everyone else and made his kin especially feel like they were nowhere near his authority. His own flesh and blood! Haven could never really read his mind to see what he was up to, what he was planning for he was skilled with his telepathy and could block anyone from reading his thoughts. He was almost glad he couldn’t read them; it would have scared him silly to know what his father’s true thoughts were… Daddy played so hard to get it’s no wonder his pups fought for his attention. Who wouldn’t want to be the star in Daddy’s eye? Haven paused in thought momentarily, looking down to the river… “Not I…” and then looked back to his blood eyes, feeling proud to say that.
His pride soon fell as the thought of his father sending that chilling message throughout the lands of “join or die” came to mind. Why was he doing this, was being charge of the most, well self proclaimed, dominant pack of all Aelyn enough for him? He was one sick pup. Haven lifted his head in a sort of fright, looking in all directions expecting to see his father about to strike him for such a thought. He was well aware he was safe for now in these lands, but the thought of his father lingering, oozing of vile conception just flooded him, and left him frightened. He was afraid of Lucid… anyone to say otherwise is a fool… for no one could stand up to him alone and live… not anymore… he could feel the truth, but not put it into words… Haven lifted a paw from complete stillness and slashed the water ball in the air, sending water splashing in that direction. He stood up and sternly walked back to the edge of the falls and looked over, looking for that feeling of hope he had had earlier. As soon as he peered over, the thoughts of others rushed to him over the sounds of the little falling waters. It was thoughts of love and young ones, and thoughts of the future; a bright future. The anxiety in Haven slowly subsided as their feelings rushed toward him, but he was careful to try and sift out any truly personal thoughts, attempting to respecting their privacy. He sat down and slid into a semi-relaxed laying position, trying to get comfortable while still looking over curiously and longingly. He was no tactical wolf, he couldn’t call any shots or even think up of any of the shots to take; he was a follower, and dwelling on something that came from his past only made him unsettled. It wasn’t like he could take action on it yet anyways, when the time came, he could protect his family here… even if it does mean facing his biological family once again. Looking over the scene of the joyous occasion below, oozing hope and love, only gave him hope for their survival and love for them more. He really wanted to believe they would all be safe, that this beautiful place, this haven would be untouched by tyranny and blood lust… but he knew that one day, they would have to fight to keep it the way it is now, though, no matter the outcome, it would no longer be untouched… ooc: Okay! here's Haven everybody! Someone that knows him tell me how i did and what I can fix this early in the game. It's be appreciated. ^^' Word count: 1,022

((I think you did a good job Now lets see how you respond to his aunt.)) Masina smiled at the life that was blooming before her eyes. Granted, there was a small death, or a loss of life before it began, but so was the natural order of things. She sighed to herself before looking around the den, at her family and how joyous they were. She wore a soft smile before slowly standing and allowing the pack to bask in the joy that was quickly spreading around the den area.
She looked around, taking in the faces that surrounded her, enjoying the hope that shone within all of them. It brought a sense of hope to her heart to know that there was the chance that others would be able to grow and prosper, even with the dark times looming over the horizon, what with her brother quickly gaining power. She knew that the pack needed this joy and happiness, otherwise all moral would quickly diminish and the pups would have no future to look forward to.
She sighed to herself, standing and moving out of the den area. One face she didn't see while in the dens was her nephew, Haven. She knew he was still getting a grasp on his telepathy, and often found it better to distance himself from others in order to escape from the constant thoughts that he attempted so hard to ignore. She, herself, had once had that very issue, before she honed her abilities and learned to control it. She had offered Haven the same option, only she would have been his mentor, but that seemed to go nowhere at the time (AKA the thread died FYI), so she merely gave up and moved on with things, hoping her nephew would someday find the path he was meant to go on and learn in his own way to control his gift.
She stepped into the gray light, where the sun fought so hard to penetrate through the dense cloud cover, but failed. She looked to the skies, her icy blue orbs curious and full of thought, as she pondered and sifted through her own mind for buried thoughts. She knew what her brother was capable of, and she also knew that they were all in danger of his grasp.... both thoughts she attempted to avoid when around others. She sighed, spreading her wings and taking to the sky, doing a quick once over the lands once high enough to ensure there were no immediate dangers, before spotting a large form whom she instantly recognized as her nephew. She smiled to herself, gently flying downward and landing with grace within his sight, as to not pose any threat.
"Greetings, Haven. I trust you are well?" She gave a kind smile to him, knowing it must be difficult for him to realize that his father was as dark and sinister as he was... its something no wolf should have to learn about their parents, since no wolf should steal the free will of others.. but she also knew that her brother always held the thirst for power and that it was an innate part of him that would always try to break the surface. Her white form sat gently next to him, her golden wings folding to her sides as her icy blue eyes looked at Haven with concern and kindness.[/blockquote] ((Not the best, still trying to get into my RP muse swing stuff, only because its been sleeping lately. Hope it works.))

Haven felt startled a little as Masina came to him from the sky, only because moments ago he was concerned about his father magically appearing. He sighed a breath of relief once he looked upon her graceful white form, knowing exactly who it was. He immediately capped what he could of others voices transmitting to him, but was only partially successful. Masina, he wouldn’t worry about for she could set a mental barrier between them and he wouldn’t have to worry about invading her mind. And if certain thoughts of hers came to him, it was because she wanted them to. He felt at ease with her knowing this, and dropped more walls of his around her than anyone else.
He returned the kind smile to her, his head tilting slightly to the side with the limp puppy ear while looking down to her. She was much shorter than him, which he found odd seeing as Lucid was so massive and he himself was rather large, and though size was not something him and his aunt had in common, they did have other similarities. They were both predominantly white, or rather he was a light cream, same difference, and they both held hints of blue, even if it was only in her eyes. They both seemed to have the same nature as well, only Masina was more outgoing than Haven; as well as the same telepathic abilities.
He rolled his well defined muscles in an attempt to ease up a little more physically, trying not to show the distress he had been carrying only moments ago, even though he knew he couldn’t hide it from her. “Masina. I am well today. Although, still dealing with the same old demons.” He knew he couldn’t just tell her he was fine, there was no use lying to her so he just added that to the end. “I’m sorry about… the still birth…” His smile faded and became more serious, but he didn’t intend for this to lead to more gloomy seriousness. In all actuality, he was doing pretty well today, on the inside. He wasn’t feeling depressed, he was happy for the pack, it was just of course those ‘demons’ that always lurked behind every corner now days. It was unhelpable. “You did all you could I’m sure…and Zeph and Cinder, they are really brave. I’m proud to have them as our Alpha’s, and you as my Betess.” His slight smile returned.
He already felt like he was talking to much, like he was filling up space. He really kind of wanted to avoid talking about Lucid with her, yet at the same time he wanted to. It was just a situation he didn’t want to face, but knew he had to and deep down he did want to know the truth. He knew she knew that… His eyes fell slightly from hers momentarily, but drew back up and fixed back to them, “How are you?”

Masina looked up at Haven, for he towered over her. She was slightly smaller than most wolves, and to those wolves who were larger than your average wolf, she seemed almost runt-like, though she was merely slender and very feminine when it came to her features. In comparison to Haven, she almost would look like a puppy in comparison to his size, what with the extremes that were between them in their own body structure.
She listened to him, her eyes never leaving his crimson ones. Haven's eyes were an oddity to her, for she could feel Lucid in them, but at the same time, she couldn't. His eyes, while they shared one of Lucid's colors, held no hint of the sinister plots and power that oozed from Lucids. She remembered very vividly what her brother was capable of, and she had a feeling that Haven's demons were very similar to her own.
She tilted her head to the side, pondering for a moment, listening to what Haven was saying and noticed him relax a bit around her. This made her smile a little more as she looked up at her nephew.
He had mentioned the still birth and she sighed ever so slightly. "Yes, there was nothing that could be done. Even before the pup was born, but while Cinder was in labor, I knew something was wrong. Poor thing." She sighed again before looking out over the lake, then returning her gaze to Haven. "I'm doing okay. Fighting some very similar, if not the same demons that you might be... only as I'm sure you know, I know a bit more about where these demons come from and what they're capable of than you can even begin to imagine. I also know that you deserve to know these things, but I wonder if you really want to hear them and if you think you are read to know all about who your father, my brother, really is." She sighed. She knew it was weighing on his mind... how could it not be? His father had gone and taken the free will of all the loners of the lands, and the waterfalls were forced to provide a haven for those loners. Kila was a prime example, the blind wolf whom was greeted by none other than our very own Harbinger. She gave Haven a kind and warm smile, emphasizing the fact that she was there for him and would be there for him if he ever needed anything or if he ever wanted to know anything that she held knowledge of. Granted, she also knew that talking about Lucid would open some scars for herself that she knew she had to face soon, but that most wolves around here had no idea what Lucid had done in his past, save for Ciryon and Baztek, wherever he may be at the moment. Those are the only two wolves that Masina had ever told about her past.[/blockquote]

Haven blinked blankly, thinking about her words. She pretty much stated exactly how he was feeling on the topic, asking him if he was ready to know. He should have kept his mental mouth shut; now he was in the position to know everything he so unwillingly wanted to know. He wasn’t sure if he was ready. He was, but wasn’t. He was just so confused on the inside about his father… His mother he thinks he could make a clear statement on, as well as his siblings, but his father? He didn’t know a damn thing. Now was better than ever to get to know though, he quarreled inside hoping she might hear that last part. He loved his family, like anyone would, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t and isn’t distant to them. He was fed up with Crow and Tolas bickering, tired of the way his father looked at them like a piece of meat, and tired of how his mother’s affection slowly weaned because of it. Had she too began to look at her children like prey at her mercy? Haven shivered and drew his head to the side lowly, almost angry for thinking such a thing, and even angrier for deep down knowing it was probably true now. Keeping his head in that same manor his eyes moved to meet hers again, showing obvious distress about the topic, and how even discussing as much as they had had put salt on a reopened wound. He didn’t want to make her feel guilty at all, but he figured the topic was just as hard for her, and she was probably feeling the same way he was just thinking about it. He knew he had to agree, for the sake of the future, for the next time they might not have the chance to converse about it. Who knows what Lucids next step will be? Since Fukai was the next closest, largest, and abundant land to the mountains, they might be his next stop. Haven grinded his molars at the thought, clenching them tight and not giving on the pressure to move them back and forth. He breathed in, he felt so weak showing such discomfort to his aunt, he would be to anyone, but this very large conundrum had a direct tie to him and Masina, anyone would be discomforted. His eyes eased up in a sort of realization, and his head slowly turned to hers, it still lowered and almost to her eye level. “I’m ready.” Simple and to the point. Quiet and hushed like it is the dark secret that it was. Serious and deep, like it was his duty. Haven had already set things straight in his mind. No matter what the past holds for his father, it does not reflect on him. He is NOT his father even if he could feel his blood coursing through his veins sometimes; even if he could see it in his own eyes. He was not Lucid, nor would he ever let himself be. He sat up straight, rolled his shoulders uneasily again, and motioned to lay. He backed up slightly, making room for her on that large flat rock to lay herself, and then he slid onto the surface, his wings tucked tightly to his sides, legs and paws in front of him. Might as well take the news laying down, as he was unsure he’d like to sit.
In the midst of all this, he couldn’t help thinking how his brother and sister were doing.

Masina watched for Haven's reaction, knowing that the knowledge she held would very well change Haven's whole outlook on the true beast that his father was. She also knew that Haven was nothing like his father. She smiled at him reassuringly, nodding to him and laying where he had made room for her.
She turned her icy blue gaze to her nephew and took a deep breath, before closing her eyes to center and focus herself. It would be hard for her to speak of this, as it always was, but she knew that Haven both needed and deserved to know what his father was capable of and the true danger that all the packlands were in and the true danger that they were in.
"As you know, Lucid and I are brother and sister, and our parents were amazing. I honestly don't know why Lucid turned out like he did and did what he did... our parents were the greatest, always there, showing us everything and teaching us, giving us all the love and attention in the world." The very memory of her parents brought tears to her eyes that sat dormant as she continued her story. "As Lucid and I were growing up, he seemed to grow more and more angry, feeding off of power and gaining followers within the pack. Shortly after Lucid grew to his full strength and capabilities, he challenged our father to his alpha position... for a fight to the death. My mother and I looked to each other in both horror and shock. At first, father refused, however Lucid thought that showed a sign of weakness, and if there is one thing that Lucid doesn't tolerate, its weakness." She gave a soft shudder, the tears remaining in her icy eyes, clouding her vision ever-so slightly. "Lucid then attacked my father... and killed him. Lucid had grown so much stronger in a short amount of time and thrived and thirsted for power. He yearned to rule the mountains in his fathers place, to raise them higher and to take charge and lead a pack that was powerful. Any who stood in his way, were killed." Her voice cracked at these words, remembering the horrible incident where she watched Lucid rip the very flesh from her father, and then turning to her mother to do the same... savagely rending her flesh from her bones. She turned her head to the side, the tears that had been growing thicker and thicker finally falling down her cheeks as she sniffled and attempted to regain her composure. She hated reliving that nightmare, though every time she spoke of it, it didn't get any easier. She took a few calming breaths before turning her blue eyes back to her nephew to continue. "So, after he killed both my mother and my father, he turned to me. I barely escaped alive, and for so long I feared he was following me and hunting me, and for several moons he was. My sister, Raven... I never knew what happened to her... I always assumed Lucid had gotten to her, though I always hope that she got away." She sighed slightly, taking more calming breaths before adjusting her wings to a more comfortable position. "Lucid is a murderer, a cold blooded killer. He won't stop until his goal is reached and his thirst for power is quenched... those who stand in his way, hardly stand a chance, and those who join him, he will quickly betray when he has no use for them. I hope always that there is some shred of good in him, a spark of hope that he can be swayed from his evil ways, but with each passing day, that hope dwindles. He wouldn't have made a move like that, claiming the plains, unless he had something to back himself up with... this is my fear. I fear that he may be too powerful for any one of us to defend against, and maybe even too strong for our pack..." She sighed and looked hard at Haven, taking in his reactions to her words as she spoke them. She knew it had to be hard for him hearing this story of his father, but she also knew that he needed to know what Lucid had done and what he could do. "I don't see how things could go very well for Aelyn if we don't find some way to defeat him, as much as I'd hate to say it. I hate resorting to violence... because I feel there is always a better way, but as I said.. with each day and with the looming threat of Lucid and his potential hostile take-over or attack, I fear that killing him is the only way to make the lands safe again." She sighed and her muscles fell slightly limp at these words in a defeated manner. She wanted more than anything to find a peaceful way to solve things, but she could only hope for this, and expect an alternative way of doing things.[/blockquote] ((Sorry if it doesn't make that much sense...))

Haven felt himself twitch slightly as his aunt spoke of his father killing his grandfather and grandmother. He felt hot tears swell behind his orbs, something that almost burned and pained. He could feel his throat tighten and his heart climb into it, pulsing, shaking. He had yet to distinguish what exactly it was he was feeling. Anger? Sadness? A repulsive disgust? Probably all of the above… What could possess a being who grew up with everything so perfect to do such a thing? Look at Masina, she was the product of good breeding and raising, wasn’t Lucid of that same exact background? What happened…..
He mentally shook himself of all the pointless, unanswerable questions and drew himself back in reality to catch the rest she was saying. He almost didn’t want to listen, but it was a train wreck; something horrible that you just can’t look away form. Then, she spoke it out loud, what he was just about to think; Cold blooded killer. His lips rose into a snarling position, but no noise was made, his heart was too far lodged up his throat for his cords to vibrate. This wasn’t intended for her, but rather for the thought of his father being a cold blooded monster being confirmed; It was for literally feeling the love he had had for dear ol’ daddy melt and slip off of the side of the ledge they were on. His lips fell from their raised position but remained stern and tight. His breath became a bit heavier as his thoughts sifted through each other, the missing pieces of the puzzle were now found and fitted to their space; it was a horrid picture.
He couldn’t help but think of his siblings… did they know about this? Did they know what he was even planning? And what about the whole Mountain pack? Did they even know what their leader was getting them into? A leader was nothing without followers… did they know what their master had in plan for them? Did he even talk to his pack…? Haven couldn’t remember many, if any times his father had been nice to others, or even kept them up-to-date with himself and his immediate family. Masina was right though, even without his pack by his side, he was still strong. But was he really as strong as she said? The whole Fukai pack was probably no match for him alone, could such a thing even be possible? Haven, befuddled, opened his mouth and stood to all fours, his blood thickened and raced through his veins,“Then we can rally other packs with us! They must be just as frightened as us! When you back a wolf into a corner, he will fight. We are all feeling cornered right now.” Haven especially felt cornered right now… and so must have Masina. For now he knew the truth, and she had always known it… Haven felt such adrenaline run through him after hearing this, it was some sort of a defense system that his body triggered from his thoughts; a defense against going in too deep of thinking that this monster was his father, that his own father had to die, and that the thought of his friends and pack were on his hit list. It sickened him, and hurt him to his very core.
The sadness in his aunt was no hidden emotion, and once Haven took an effort to get over himself, he really took notice to it. He kept standing, his muscles still pumped with adrenaline and too stiff to sit down he moved toward her slowly, comfortingly. His expression softened, and he attempted to relax for her sake and his own. He came to her side and lightly nudged the side of her face with his maw, “Masina..” His voice soft and had the pitchy tone of a worried pup, “I’m sorry………….what do we do from here? I feel like I need to stop him….before it’s too late” His eyes slowly wondered over the cliff to where the birthing den and part of the pack lied; a drop of salty water splattering on the rock below their paws.
Ooc: sorry! Kind of jumped around, hope it makes sense
