Name: Aspen
Nicknames: As
Gender: Male
Desired Pack:
Desired Rank: Give him anything, anywhere.
Age: 2.5 years
Looks: Masterfully sculpted by the hands of a god-artist, Aspen’s entirety was built around a single trait- endurance. He is a leviathan, towering over even the larger males of his age. The creature’s sturdy frame is laden with muscles fashioned to give and receive heavy blows. Of course, this physical stature does not come without a number of flaws. What Aspen has in stamina he lacks in agility and speed. The male is the antithesis of lithe, the opposite of quick. If a wolf makes a half-attempt to outpace Aspen, they will most likely be able to do so. Due to this weakness, Aspen cherishes and maintains his natural blessings near-obsessively.
Like most of his comrades in Aelyn, Aspen is oddly colored by mammalian standards. His base hue is a deep, solid brown that deviates ever so slightly into faun-hue at his extremities. Deep green tones festoon his coat close to his eye and a bit upon his back and toes. The coat itself is thick, coarse, and long. Aspen appears ragged and bestial within his wild pelt, even when he attempts to groom it. There are often leaves and other plant matter wrapped haphazardly within the tangled tresses. As a fairly young wolf, Aspen has yet to obtain any notable scars or other marks of history.
Much like his limbs and tail, Aspen’s facial features are masculine and surly. His muzzle is short and blunt, preceded by a sharp jawline. Centered within his face are two glistening forest-green eyes that betray only the strongest of the wolf’s generally powerful sentiments.
Power: Aspen commands a single power that seems to fit his appearance near-perfectly. The wolf can transform into a tree. The behemoth can transform into any sort of tree he pleases, but naturally he is inclined to assume the form of an aspen. Regardless of the diversity of trees that Aspen can become, a tree is a tree when it comes to power applicability, and without a tremendous amount of creativity, Aspen won't utilize his tree range for anything but kicks.
Personality: Aspen is, frankly, an eccentric. Unlike his physical form, the wolf is highly emotionally unstable and at times out of control. He does not suffer from mood swings; instead, he experiences sentiments at a more intense level than most creatures. When Aspen is unhappy, he is disphoric. Instead of experiences annoyance, he bristles with unbridled anger. When cheerful, Aspen is bursting with joy. These emotions are handicaps for the beast and may cripple him mentally, as well as manifest physically. He attempts to reign in his feelings by numbing his mind and even distancing himself from others, but this usually does not work. Of course, Aspen may also harness his raging sentiments for better. When the male cares for a comrade, he /cares/. When he despises another wolf, he will stop at very little to cause the loathed party as much pain as possible.
As can be assumed, Aspen has a horrible temper. This rage often manifests in physical violence, as well as outbursts of screaming and growling. The wolf is an ideal fighter for the fact that, when he is angry, fear does not reach his anger-enshrouded being. His usually busy mind reverts to a primal, thoughtless stage of existence in which only raw feeling exists. It is in this stage when the leviathan is at his most powerful physically, but he is simultaneously at his mental weakest. Aspen is easy to outsmart at this time.
When in a neutral state of mind, Aspen is nonchalant and charming, perhaps even charismatic. However, he can so easily transition into a state of emotional chaos that this fact is nearly irrelevant.
Eyes: The male's eyes are a glistening forest-green highlighted by a variety of brown and golden tones.
Wings: Aspen has wing-stubs that match the tone of his green markings and eyes. There is a slight trace of feathering, but the wings themselves are undeveloped.
History: Aspen was technically born a loner. He’d never belonged to a pack, but his parents belonged to a traveling ‘band’ of wolves who refused to adopt the structure of a permanent cadre. Everything was settled in a utilitarian manner, and every wolf within the band was treated absolutely equally. This worked swimmingly for a time, but the inherent nature of social creatures predicted the eventual conversion of these equality-loving loners into a more structured pack.
The creature was raised exceptionally well by parents who worked together with ease. The largest hardship that Aspen suffered in his whelphood was the death of his siblings, which occurred shortly after birth. Because Aspen was his parents’ first-born, he was coddled by both them and the wolves they traveled with. He quickly became spoiled and demanding, naïve to the pain and hardship that many creatures of his age and breed had to endure. There was never a day where Aspen was hungry, never a time where he was without shelter or company. This changed in his adolescence, when the group of travelers decided to settle upon a nameless territory with a more structured hierarchy. This enraged the easily-angered Aspen, who didn’t like the idea of being commanded by any one wolf. He was in the prime of his transition into independence, and suddenly there was a being ruling over him with what he perceived was an iron paw. Instead of challenging for the pack, which Aspen knew he would not gain in his inexperienced teen phase, he left the cadre to live alone and find his own place in nature.
Aspen was fine on his own at first; he was powerful enough to take down larger prey, and when he could not catch what he needed, he would scavenge upon carrion. However, physical needs were not the only ones that yearned for satisfaction. Aspen was alone after all, and as a social creature he could not stand for this without losing his mind. He would often speak to himself, pretending that he was simultaneously himself and another. He would speak to the things around him- rocks, trees, birds. He still does this in the present; old habits die hard. Aspen knew that he would completely lose his mind if he lived alone for too long. And so he headed out to find what he could find, to join a new pack and create a new life for himself. Even if it meant living under the rule of another wolf.
This brings Aspen to the pack of ______, where he took rank as a ___________.
