The soft trickling of the water as it ran down gentle slopes filled Zephyr's ears as he lowered his head, brow furrowed in brief concentration. Then his paw darted forwards, agile as a bird and swept the carp out of the water in one clean movement. As it lay, flopping, onto the ground, he quickly crushed its head with powerful jaws to stop its struggling and end its pain, before picking it up again in his teeth.
He was very glad to have found this little quarry - a small sector of three ponds interlinked by tiny waterfalls - not far off from the pack den behind the largest waterfall. He would not have far to travel and he could go back and bring more fish. However, he always knew how much he should take, for if he became too greedy for the pack, the fish would not flourish there for much longer.
Though some small scent made him drop the large fish just outside the den, and cock his ears in alert. There was a gathering of packmembers, a ways off into the packlands. Though they were far away; as his and Cinders lands spread over vast quantities, he could faintly smell them, with the ever so faint odour of a new pup that he did not know.
Licking his lips to rid them of the fishblood, Zephyr quickly sped up his pace, as his shoulders worked to pound his legs into running. He became like a golden blur, racing through the waterfalls, over rocky terraces and little copses of trees. His lands. Where he and his Cinder would raise their young, and grow old, together. His heart warmed at the thought of it.
He slowed as he neared the gathering, eyes widening in surprise at the amount of wolves there. Haven! with his kindhearted nature and willingness to do good. Riptide, ever gentle, and even little Snippet, Riptide's adopted daughter, who had no trouble adjusting with the pack but was still nervous around other wolves bar her 'Papa Tide' and especially around him and Cindeshock...
His nose turned its attention to the little pup just as he entered the clearing, smiling widely and slowing his pace right down to a leisurely walk. He gave Haven and Riptide both a respectful nod, and a warm smile to little Snip, though she was behind Riptide, before turning his eyes to the pup.
"Hello little one. I am Zephyr, Alpha of the Fukai Waterfalls. Are you lost? Were you seperated from your family?" He spoke gently, and not too quickly, concern evident upon his golden features. He felt a little tense about asking her of her family so soon, but - as it was in the case of Puru - sometimes it was neccessary. He and Cinder would never let a lost pup go hungry within their lands, but their first and foremost priority was always to see if there was a way to reunite child with mother. Even though the pup was a cute little thing, with odd orange splotches dotting her body, and an aimable grin upon her little features.

The pup blinked a few times, watching the young Snippet. What an odd one indeed, but not all wolves could be picky. Her love was... stronger now, she felt, when this Riptide came along. A small smirk spread itself across her jaw, and she giggled a bit. That black tail swished back and forth slowly, and she bounced about. The orange splatter-like dots on her body seemed to bounce also, the way the sun was gliding its light from the tip of her muzzle down to the tip of her tail. It makes you wonder... how would she look when she grew up? Maybe the orange dots would disappear? Hopefully not, as this was her trademark, the way she was born and should be raised until she grew old and died. This is nature, this is the circle of life, and nothing could stop this. Love could not be stopped, and this brought great joy to the young five month old pup who could feel such wonderful things.
However, with love comes great pain, and she shook her head of that fact. It was too much to bare.
Again she gazed at the new wolves in front of her, fascinated by their feelings and the way they held themselves. Snippet was submissive, Riptide was in the middle and Haven brought himself up a bit. Such good wolves, such good hearts. This all mixed in with a wonderful place; the roaring waterfall in the background of all this was a great effect. It was like they were all meant to be here; by fate. However, all of these thoughts and time was interrupted by a curious voice.
"Train?"
This voice was from Riptide, and she silently gulped. Damn, she slipped up. The pup realized this, for a young one. She knew alot, and she knew she had probably took one paw into the danger zone. "What, Riptide?" Innocent voice, and her orange hues sparkled brightly, giving off that innocent look. Nonetheless, she really wasn't; she wanted to keep her past in private and also her ancient power. The wise look in her eyes and the bulging of her muscles was a good hint already, if they picked it up yet. She would refuse to answer the questions about her if it came down to it; even to the alpha. Yes, she is brave and much like a leader-type; though she would put down her life for ones she trusted. Right now, the wolves before her needed to build the trust, and not just let it be handed to them.
"I don't know so much about the Heaven part, milady, but I'm definitely hear to protect the pack. So you could say I'm here to teach the bad packs a lesson."
Haven, ah, he made all of the bad feelings in her heart go away. Raichu laughed, and pounced up again, swiping at another feather. So playful-like to hide all of the true feelings inside of her. She felt something though... Something seemed to be stirring inside of Haven that was extremely troublesome. The pup had a mind to speak of, and she always spoke what was on her mind, most of the time. This was no exception. "Really? That sounds so cool; you could be the leader!" Nodding, she gave him a small smirk. The pup never smiled, ever, so don't expect one so soon. "Haven, why are you sad--" Blah, she did it again. Let something blurt out before she thought about it. She coughed loudly to cover it, and her right ear flopped a bit, giving her that cute pup look besides her muscles and what not.
"I think we should probably introduce this young lady to the alphen pair though, what do you think, Splatter? You want me Zephyr and Cinder?"
The pup blinked. Young lady? Wow, that was surely surprising. Never did a wolf called her a young lady. "Uhm, sure! As long as they're the good angels from heaven and gonna kick the bad wolves' butts!" Giggling, she saw a small grasshopper on the ground, and she now totally focused on that. Quickly, she crouched and sprang, purposely missing it. The speed was quite good for a pup, and she laughed, completely in a good mood once more.
Now another feeling came. The pup looked up, and it grew stronger. The feeling was something of leadership, something... courageous, and the female grew suddenly interested. It did not take long for the male to come, as he was of pure gold and easily picked out because he did not camouflaged. However, she did watched, and she gave him a small smirk. The feeling of love around him was strong, and she could tell he was well respected for, and loyal. Loyalty was a good thing, and if she didn't feel that loyalty feeling, she would've spit out the truth. That meant she had to tell of her power, but she would risk it if it came down to it.
"Hello little one. I am Zephyr, Alpha of the Fukai Waterfalls. Are you lost? Were you seperated from your family?" Such a gentle voice, such a good posture. Easily picked out, once more. He was the Alpha, she figured. She grew up around ones of high grace. He was no exception to that rule. "No, I'm not lost." A simple sentence, as she didn't answer his other question. Her past will remain hidden as long as she could, and so will her power. She couldn't let that out; they did not know the full story. They did not know about how she had to work to get her muscles and speed; they did not need to know about the power of love that was constantly in her stomach. The constant feeling of pain, because of that love. The pup was wise, and if the alpha before her was wise himself, he could pin-point such things about her. In due time, when she came to trust all of those surrounding her, she would speak of it all. In due time, in due time.

Snip beamed with happiness as Tide told her he was proud of her. As a new member of his family, she wanted to show him that she was worth his affection. She wanted him to be proud of her. She wanted to pay him back for taking her in without a second thought, for putting up with her more or less imprinting on him, for sitting with her those hard first few months and treating her like a daughter. She leaned into him, looking up at him with undisguised adoration. If she’d had the misfortune of being born a cat- her hackles rose just a bit even thinking of the evil creatures- she would have been purring right now with the pleasure his attention woke in her.
A small sound of happiness rose in her throat, coming out as something between a whimper and a groan, but obviously not distressed. When Tide bent his head down to talk to her, she licked his muzzle. Her eyes lit up at his offer. She loved to spend time with Papa Tide, and is she had to share that time with another wolf then so be it. She would do it to be with him. ”That sounds like fun, Papa,” she said happily. ”Do you think Mister Haven would come with us?” She knew she wasn’t scared of the big wolf, just shy of him, and thought she could like him if she got to know him a little better. He was as good a wolf as any to ask along.
Snip looked at the wolf in question when he answered the new pup’s cheerful questioning. She smiled at the huge wolf’s answer. It made her happy to know that Haven saw himself as the protector of the good packs- it reinforced her earlier thought that he was a nice wolf, and probably not deserving of her fear of him. He felt very safe, like he would stand between her and any danger that threatened Snip or the pack. That image stuck in Snip’s mind, comforting her and making her feel welcomed, at least by him. Without thinking about it consciously, she added him to the tiny-but-growing list of wolves who’d accepted her into the pack. She smiled proudly at Tide with Haven’s words. She loved that he was the one who’d found her. He was her father now as far as she was concerned.
She watched also as the little wolf pup- and she used ‘little’ in reference to age only, as Splatter was at least as big as the petite Snippet- once again tried to catch Haven’s feathers. Snip smiled, a tiny chuckle rising in her chest, and an almost indiscernible wriggle ran through her body. Shy as she was, Snippet was still a pup at heart, and pups love to play. Snippet was no exception. Watching the orange-splattered youngster pounce at Haven’s huge wings was enough to make her want to join in the fun. If they’d been alone, she probably would have, but as it was she simply watched intently and with bright eyes. She wanted to join in but shyness held her back. But even so, when the pup pounced on a grasshopper Snippet’s body tensed in anticipation. A whine escaped her throat; her ears were forward, her tail wagging, her whole being intent on the bug between the pup’s paws. She wanted to play!
When running footsteps sounded through the clearing, Snippet looked over for the source and saw a golden blur race in and solidify suddenly into a male wolf she recognized immediately. It was Zephyr, the Alpha of the Fukai pack. Her tail stopped wagging immediately, her ears turned back and drooped, and she shrunk a little, no longer standing tall. Though she’d gotten over her fear of Cinder when the older wolf offered to take her exploring a few days ago, Snip still had a submissiveness complex when it came to the Aplhen pair. Only Tide’s warm, reassuring presence by her side kept her from going into full-on active submission. As it was, she gave Zephyr a respectful nod and kept her head low. She was glad she was partially hidden behind Tide, and that the main focus was the pup Raichu, at least for now.
Snip caught the fact that Raichu didn’t really answer Zephyr’s questions. She focused on the pup with a curious look that was far too knowing for her year of like. Most wolves didn’t realize how truly wise Snip was; young though she may be, she also remembered many lives she’d lived before. She could remember relationships made and broken, loves won and lost, battles fought, mistakes paid for, years upon years of living. Most of the time she couldn’t remember much of it; if she ever remembered all of her years at once, she would go crazy with the strength of them. But she could remember bits and pieces of her old lives, and she could use that knowledge to help her understand and see far beyond what was going on around her. Now she saw the look on Raichu’s face and knew without knowing how she knew that the pup’s past was most likely similar to her own. Her simple statement, ‘no, I’m not lost’, held a wealth of unspoken words. Not lost meant she had left on purpose, or been kicked out. Not lost meant she was lost- no family, no pack, nothing but memories of a better time.
Snip realized all of this in an instant and felt a sudden kinship with the pup, a feeling of empathy and sympathy and strange, almost misplaced affection that rushed through her with unexpected strength. Without thinking about what she was doing or what it looked like, she padded forward to the pup’s side and nuzzled her softly, not saying anything, confident that her actions would tell Raichu that she understood what she meant, ‘no, I’m not lost’.
After a long moment, she did speak, her voice soft but unusually confident in the stillness. ”I wasn’t lost either, when I got here, but I was, really, in a way. I found a family here, with Papa Tide. You can, too, if you want.” She turned her eyes to Zephyr’s, an extremely unusual occurrence; for once she didn’t care about eye contact with an Alpha. She glanced briefly at Haven, meeting his eyes with a tiny smile before her attention turned to Zephyr again. Her eyes had changed, turning a deep, almost smoky gold. This was the telltale sign that Snippet wasn’t quite herself anymore; there was something else behind her eyes, something that’d come up from her past to partially overwhelm her present mind. This wasn’t a complete possession or awakening of memory; if it was, Snippet would be thrown into a trance as she relived a past life. Instead, it was more that a portion of an old and wise wolf she’d once been had come back to visit. ”Zephyr, sir, I know it’s not my place to offer her sanctuary, but I trust that you won’t turn away a wolf in need. The child has come a long way, further than you know.” Her voice, too was different, carrying a new, adult quality and an older vocabulary. Snip/notSnip nodded to Zephyr in deference but didn’t quite look away. She could feel the old spirit leaving now that its job was done, slipping back into its resting place in one of her pasts. Before it was completely gone, she spoke one last time. ”Snippet is lonely, Alpha. Give her the chance to make a new friend.”
Now Snip sat down suddenly, her eyes light golden and clear again. She looked from Zephyr to Tide to Raichu confusedly, slightly dazed as she processed what had just happened. ”Uhm, ‘msorry Zephyr sir,” she mumbled, voice shy and quiet again. ”I’m not sure what just happened. It has to do with my past lives, I think, my remembering them and all? But I would like it if Raichu stayed, Sir, ‘cause I think it’d be nice to have another pup around, and…and…and everyone should have a pack.” The last but was almost mumbled, but audible.
