Alev "This is the clock upon the wall This is the story of us all This is the first sound of a newborn child Before he starts to crawl"
Stepping onto the ice, the sound of his nails scraping against the solid water made Alev cringe. He had to be quick, as the ice would soon melt under his paws and there was no sure way of telling how deep the waters here could be. For all he knew it could just be a shallow puddle or a deep trench cut through the land. Making his way onto a patch of solid ground, he let a shiver ripple through him- trying to heat up his body. It would do him no good if he got hypothermia before he could ever make up for what he had done.
Lifting his head up high, the large brute let out a deep howl, one that claimed attention and was strangled slightly by another tremor running its course through his body. He could easily see his breath rolling off in puff. He at least attempted to warm his hind legs by draping his tail over his flank, but it seemed futile to the heated wolf. Sometimes he damned his power of heat. He hated the winter season, even if it was warmer than it once had been.
Shaking once again, Alev hoped someone would come before he froze. Or before the guilt he held inside ate him up and caused him to go insane. Surely, no pack would want a mentally defective wolf, it just wouldn't be productive if they had to worry about a varg going mad at any moment and possibly harming someone instead of finding food for the hungry. If he wanted to be in a pack, he would have to hold his own.

"I am the last one standing" Sabbath
”Oh you know it’s true I’m obsessed with you” ”You’re the kind of toy I’d like to break” xxxxx Sabbath was in a great mood today. There was absolutely nothing that could bring her down. The end of winter was near, meaning that the cool spring air would be here soon and it would bring along the crisp breezes that she so enjoyed to cool her body. She enjoyed being of fire, but just once, she would like to meet another wolf who had the same problem as her. She didn't want to be the only varg doomed to scar the planet with her every step. That just seemed wrong. But its best she stray away from those thoughts to keep her good mood.
Yes, her most joyful mood- she was now betess once again. Yes, it was a different pack this time, but the point was that she now had another family to love and call her own. The guilt that had eaten her up inside was gone. Yes, she still felt the sorrow of leaving behind her old pack- but she had been told to run by DILIVI, and she had obeyed. But she had moved on now, and that was all that mattered. What happened in the past, stays in the past. And the prospect of pups soon to come made her slightly giddy. She would be able to see these alpha-pups grow up to be strong. She believed that this pack would not crumble and the pups soon to be born would not perish. Sure, they weren't her own pups, but she didn't hold high expectations for herself. After all, she knew that some wolves found her looks repulsive and didn't worry about finding a mate any time soon. Just the fact that this upcoming litter would live made her all bubbly inside.
And so, it was with this absolutely fantastic mood that Sabbath had set out on patrol. She hadn't expected anyone to be out here today, so imagine her surprise when a loud, deep howl resonated through the air. It took her a split second to figure out where it had come from and once it was recognized as within the boundaries of Nigori, like a bullet, she was gone. The cool air burned through her lungs and powered her legs to run faster- faster- and faster still until she saw the shaking form. It was a male, from his scent and his large frame didn't shake Sabbath from approaching him- after all, two giant wolves were her alphas.
She slowed quickly as she neared him. Looking to the ground as she neared him, she saw small dips in the ice that looked like small puddles where steps had gone. Had this male created them, or had she run by here earlier? No, she hadn't been here today, so it had to be this male (or another varg) that had created those stepping holes. Her eyes narrowed as she walked onto solid ground where the brute was. "Cold?" She asked. Yes, as betess, she should be asserting herself as such, but she wasn't overly polite about many things. And by the way this male was shaking, something had to be wrong.

Alev "This is the clock upon the wall This is the story of us all This is the first sound of a newborn child Before he starts to crawl"
A hoarse chuckle was drawn from his throat as he thought about his situation. He would be left here to die without ever figuring out who he was. He would die before he could keep his promise to himself to do whatever it takes to make things right- to make up for the blood he had taken. His wry smile was weak as he forced himself to stay standing. He would drop after the last breath left him.
Imagine his shock as he saw another wolf - a female - approaching him. Her looks were frightening, yet awe inspiring at the same time. He hadn't seen another wolf like her. Or if he did, he couldn't remember. Her horns were absolutely amazing and the way her body moved with raw strength and power, he didn't doubt her ability to fight. She looked like something straight out of a tale that parents told their children to get them to behave. He couldn't help his smile from widening as this creature approached him. He wondered how weak he looked to her.
One word. Just one, and he was hooked on her voice. It was something so different from the usual brutes who wanted to fight him because he accidentally strayed too close to their personal space bubble of half a mile. Geez, some males just needed to get over themselves. It was a question and he inhaled a burning gulp of air to answer the fae. "Aye, 'tis cold, lass. Mind findin' me some warmth?" He spoke, his voice rough and his smile crooked. He briefly glanced over her shoulder to see that her tracks also left melted puddles in the ice and his golden eyes looked up to hers, burning with curiosity for this fae. "If you dun min' me askin', are you o' the fire as well?" He wanted to know. He did. If she was, then he might be able to share in her warmth and he might be able to brush against her without boiling her alive. It would make his day if he met another wolf like himself.

"I am the last one standing" Sabbath
”Oh you know it’s true I’m obsessed with you” ”You’re the kind of toy I’d like to break” xxxxx She shifted on her feet a bit uncomfortably. She knew that she could warm up this freezing brute. She knew how she would as well. But there was one question brimming in her minds. How would she go about that? Many wolves had personal space bubbles that they were particular about even with familiar people. But with complete and total strangers? That was stepping a line that very few survived- with a few scratches of course. So even though this male was slowly freezing to death, would he change his mind about being saved if it meant her having to lay beside him- to warm him with her body and its strange heat? Closing her eyes, she let the words fall out of her mouth, "I can help. But I'm warning you ahead of time, it's not the most... joyful of ways."
Crouching low, she wiggled right up against his side and pressed against him. She could quickly feel the heat from her body rushing to his cold one and already the expanse of fur she was against was warming. And then his next question. Her muscles jumped and her golden eyes flickered over to him. 'as well'? Did that mean that this brown brute had a similar power to hers? Did he melt the ice too? But yet he was different- more subject to freezing if the way he had been shaking was any indication. But still, she nodded, her mind briefly running over the thought that he too had an accent like many wolves she met these days did. "Yes, I have the power of fire. Is it safe to assume that you do too?" She asked, her tail unfurling and furling. She wondered if he was just passing through to be on his way after he was warmed again, or was he searching for a home? Having another wolf like herself around would be simply amazing. She would have someone that she could finally connect with through her power.

Alev "This is the clock upon the wall This is the story of us all This is the first sound of a newborn child Before he starts to crawl"
His body stiffened as the russet red fae walked closer to him. It wasn't just because his personal space was being breeched, but because the cold seemed to get even colder and he didn't know if her method of heating him up would work. Or would he perish before finding a home. Would he perish before he could make up for the sins of his past? But as her warm body was pressed against his freezing one, his muscles relaxed and he let out the breath he didn't remember holding. Unconsiously he pressed closer to the fae as she answered and he was relieved that he wouldn't burn her and maybe she was also happy that she wouldn't burn anyone either. "Aye, lass, I am o' the fire. 'Tis an honor to be meetin' someone who I don' leave a scorch upon. The name's Alev, and what be the name of the lass who be savin' me this fine day?" He asked, a rugged tone slipping through his voice. Slowly he was regaining feeling in his entire body and he had this fine fae to thank for it. She had saved his life and he would forever be in debt to her. Her hellish looks, now that he got a closer look at the varg, were actually quite stunning. The horns that spiraled out of her head looked well kept and the elegant way her tail twitched in its furling motions was eye catching. Her scaled showed power and strength and probably gave her a good defense. Such a one of a kind beauty she was, even with the scar that draped over her maw. All it served to do was give the golden eyed wolf character. Just how could one wolf be so terrifying and awe inspiring at the same time?

"I am the last one standing" Sabbath
”Oh you know it’s true I’m obsessed with you” ”You’re the kind of toy I’d like to break” xxxxx Sabbath's mind was whirling in circles. Did this brute not mind her being too close to him without even knowing who she was? Well, she was saving his life, according to the way the heat was becoming a pleasant buzz against her side. But did this brute not fear her looks? Did he not think that she was a demon straight from the pits of hell themselves? Was he able to stand looking at her? The thought made her giddy mood even more giddy and a grin on her face was evidence of this mood shift. And the fact that this brute didn't burn from her touch and the fact that he was pleased to meet her for the same reason on furthered this mood shift and her tail languidly waved back and forth. She was careful not to accidentally hit him with it, to keep the good mood that had settled around them. "It's nice to meet you, Alev. I'm Sabbath, the betess. And I agree, it's amazing to meet another wolf that I don't burn for touching too long." She spoke, looking over Alev. His pelt was a nice brown shade and even though one eye had yet to open, the eye that she was able to see was gorgeous. She found the feathers that sprouted from the base of his tail quite curious and her golden eyes were drawn to the illusion that they were on fire. Such a shame it would be if they did go up in a plume of flames, they were such a lovely attribute to this clearly accepting wolf. "So, what brings you to the lands of the marsh?" She asked, remembering her betess duties, it wouldn't do to be distracted by another varg. But to Sabbath, this was the first wolf that could withstand the heat of her body and also knew the pros and cons of having such an intense fire running through their body.

Alev "This is the clock upon the wall This is the story of us all This is the first sound of a newborn child Before he starts to crawl"
He may have not been a wolf with the power of empath, but he sure as hell could feel the good mood that seemed to roll off of the fae. Her company was probably the most pleasureable thing he's had in forever. He didn't burn her by touching her too long, she wasn't a downer - or if she was, she didn't let it affect other people - and she actually talked back. For once, he was having a full conversation with another wolf instead of a one-sided one or one in which he recieved one worded answers. She told him her name and before he could stop himself, words came tumbling out of his mouth. "There wouldn' happen to be a beta with ye, would there?" He asked, and after a moment, he realized just how bad that sounded and made to correct himself. "I mean- ye wouldn' happen to 'ave a mate, would ye?" He asked, interested in what her answer would be.
But she went on to ask of his charges. What was he doing here? That was a very good question indeed. One that Alev wished to answer himself. But, if he wanted to earn brownie points with Sabbath, it might do him good to be honest. "I 'ave been searchin' for some redemption for myself, yet I come here in search of a home- a place I be callin' my own." He answered, hoping she wouldn't push further on his first part of the answer, he would probably wind up telling the interesting fae on his own in due time.

"I am the last one standing" Sabbath
”Oh you know it’s true I’m obsessed with you” ”You’re the kind of toy I’d like to break” xxxxx Sabbath felt herself lean ever so slightly closer to Alev. The warmth that he radiated felt different from her own heated body and it brought the same kind of drowsiness that a mother's pelt would bring a child. Had Sabbath actually been cared for by her mother, she might have known this warmth as comfort. But alas, this warmth was something new to the fae and as he asked about a beta, she pulled away slightly. Did he not like talking to her anymore? Did it not matter that he couldn't burn her? Had her looks finally frightened him off? She hoped not. For once she actually cared whether or not this wolf was abhorred by her looks. Would he rather talk to a male who wouldn't be so odd looking?
Hurt shone through her golden eyes as he seemed to realize something quickly and spoke again. Her body relaxed, she hadn't realized that she had tensed up, and she smiled, swinging her head slowly. "No, I haven't had a mate." She murmured, slightly ashamed. No male had even attempted to court her. No, she was just too nightmarish for anyone to want to get close. To be honest, Kerrigan was probably the closest brute she had. She hadn't conversed with any male pack members and back at her old pack, her male packmates would rather talk to the slightly less hellish DILIVI, than her.
Stopping her ranting thoughts, she took a deep breath and looked over at Alev once again. Redemption? She knew the feeling, and dared not pry any further, it was his past, and as long as he didn't harm anyone in her pack, she would be fine with letting sleeping dogs lie. "A home I can provide you with, but our stock of redemption is out. Sorry about that." She quipped with a hint of a joke lying behind her words, hoping that Alev would pick up on the fact that she didn't want to press any further. "But, I might say you can join, but it is my alpha who gets the final say. He's a kind brute though, easy to get along with." She spoke, thinking back to how he had offered her a meal on their first meeting. Kerrigan really was quiet easy to get along with and Sabbath was quite happy that she had met him first, rather than any other wolf. Some others may not have been as nice, but Kerrigan had given her a home, and just recently ranked her the betess of their pack. Sabbath found that as she let her past go, the more the future gave her to hold- enjoyable things.

Alev "This is the clock upon the wall This is the story of us all This is the first sound of a newborn child Before he starts to crawl"
Alev laughed along with her at her words and he was truely delighted that this fae wouldn't press into his past- a past he didn't quite remember. As soon as he knew, he would tell Sabbath. She seemed to be the kind of wolf that didn't pry into secrects, but that you could trust with your secrets. She also seemed to be the kind of wolf that you wouldn't want to lie to or have the heart to do so. Was this why she had looked just a bit hurt before? Had others' honesty with her harmed her? It was a shame that something so stunning could look happy in one instant and then a moment later, it could look so broken. Alev wanted to help put her back together. He wanted to help remove whatever made her eyes show her pain- he wanted to be a joyful memory that blanketed the tragedy. It was then, something struck him that Sabbath had spoken earlier and Alev felt like he might have a chance to make this creature smile until the ends of time. "Ye said ye 'ave not 'ad a mate? This would mean that none had decided to court ye, correct?" He asked, shifting his body so that he faced her. The loss of warmth was but a small itch in his side as he faced Sabbath, determination gleaming in his eyes as he stepped forward and brushed his muzzle along the side of her neck, burrying his nose in the soft and thick fur, gathering the warmth it offered. He couldn't remember if he had attached to anyone this quick- but a feeling like this would be something not easily forgotten, so he gave her the position of first. "Then let me be the first fer ye." He murmured, his head halfway tucked under the large horns of hers. Many might have thought of them as a hinderance, but he thought them of beauty and wouldn't wish for anything else to be placed upon Sabbath's head.

"I am the last one standing" Sabbath
”Oh you know it’s true I’m obsessed with you” ”You’re the kind of toy I’d like to break” xxxxx The warmth brought by Alev's touch was different from the body heat she emitted every second of the day. It was different from when they had just stood side by side so that Alev would not freeze to death. No, this warmth did not make Sabbath wish to drop to the ground to cool her body off. It made her want to make a bed out of it and lay in it until the end of the world came and swallowed the earth whole. It was warm and chilling at the same time and Sabbath never wanted it to end. To reciprocate the mutual feeling, she nuzzled into his neck as well, careful not to smack him in the face with her large horns. How long could they stay like this? Forever? She wished she could. But she was a betess, she had betess duties to preform and couldn't stay locked in this embrace for all of eternity no matter how much she wanted to. But still she pressed forward gently and closed her eyes, getting lost in the feeling. Her muscles relaxed and her body seemed to slip into a coma. But she was still aware. She could hear what few prey there was, running about. She could hear the leaves swaying in a silent breeze and the she could imagine that it all just disappeared from underneath them all and just let her slip away to never return. Oh, how Sabbath wished for just that and only that- with Alev.
