A whisper of tiny paws broke the uneven silence that littered the marshlands, odd at this time in the day. Amber eyes blinked beneath a plain brown fringe, a fluffy tail swishing about behind a darting tongue. The tiny predator started forwards, treading ever so quietly, so carefully that it looked almost as if the predator were engaging in a dance of some sorts.
Soon though, her unknowing target came clearly into view, a hapless bluebird, its white plumed chest thrust outwards in joyous song. It drew a deep breath to sing again when she made her move, seeing the earth form itself, the image of her midns eye. Her signature killing move, as rock hard spikes erupted from the ground, spearing the bird through a wing and its adjacent leg. It was too tiny to have simply been killed on the big spikes, and though she was improving in her ability with shaping the earth to her whim, she was still having a lot of difficulties making small things. It irked her, so she killed things. She wasn't all that hungry, come to think of it, so she simply turned and walked away, leaving the dying bird to its frantic struggles.
A small cloud of pollen drifted off a flower caught in her nose and she sneezed, causing another spike to drive itself from the ground behind her, but she barely noticed it as she started to run away again. She was looking for the den of the Nigori Marshlands pack. For now, she was lost and alone, a mere harmless, helpless, innocent pup. She was scared and alone and helpless. She would need help.

A tall brute wandered through the marsh, his small paws sloshing quietly through the shallow puddles of water that reflected the sun from above. It was a warm day, Finch's favorite kind of day. He was new to the Nigori Marshlands, a stranger so far. His ears flicked in different directions, taking interest in the small sounds around him, though he himself could care less. As he wandered he realized that there was almost no one about. No scent so far into the marshlands.
He was a bit suspicious a first. What if another pack had ravaged their lands before he'd gotten there? Millions of thought raced through his head. But, he knew himself, and it was all a slight case of paranoia in his mind, which seemed to pop up at irrational times. Couldn't he just enjoy the surroundings without being suspicious of nature for once? Finch continued, his tall legs keeping him dry from the water. Though he wasn't getting wet, he was sick of the sticky marsh mud feeling on his pads, something another wolf would probably never even notice. His long hind quarters launched him out of the puddles and onto the more firm land, held together by marsh shrubs and the roots that fed them.
As he started walking forward, he saw something in the distance. Another wolf perhaps? But no, it was too small to be a lone wolf wandering in the marshlands. Was it something worth catching and eating? Some sort of prey he assumed. Now that he thought upon it he was quite hungry. His frame lowered slightly, his head now hanging low, hiding his body as best as he could amongst the grasses. Slowly, quietly he crept forward. Though, he now picked up a smell. It wasn't prey at all, or mostly at least. It was another wolf. The smell of kicked up dirt filled his nostrils, and the scent was covered up, though he was sure of what he smelled.
Feeling a bit more confident, now that he knew it really was a small wolf, he continued forward a bit faster. His head raised slightly, and he observed a pup. Immediately he felt no danger, though he could see that this wolf was capable of manipulating the earth. Again, he came closer and closer. He smiled to himself as the wolf unknowingly shot up another spike from the earth. Ah, so she was still learning. She started running a bit, so he changed his path so that he might meet up with the young wolf, cutting her off a bit.
"Having troubles?" He asked sweetly, his long teeth showing in a smile.

Birdsong was hard to come by these days, but the frightened squeaks that erupted from behind her now was a nice imitation. She smiled absently, her tail swishing about the place, a slight, contented walk. This day was rather hot, but as the pup realised, it was a common heat in the marshlands, she saw from the herbs and shrubbery that grew around.
She would have started to hum as well, but she was startled by the appearance of another wolf, asking her a question. Her immediate reaction was to run, run from this wolf that had startled her and never look back, but she pushed it deep down. Instead, she shied away nervously, perring up at the brute through her fringe. She swallowed once and then spoke.
"I'm looking for the pack"
She said in a small voice, her tail wrapping itself around her back legs. He didn't seem to appear threatening, but she knew from first hand experiences that appearances could be decieving. She cocked her head at him with childish curiosity that is present in most pups, before shuffling towards the wolf again, slightly less afraid.
After all, she was pretty sure she could take him if worse came to worse. She was still learning how to control her powers, but she was small and agile. However this was not yet the worse case scenario. She had to calm herself down. Her had but asked her a simple question. She made her eyes wide and innocent.
"Are you a member of the Pack?" She asked.

he spoke gruffly, not moving his gaze from the smallest wolf. "Och, I woul' like ta ken why this," he lifted a paw so the bird could be seen clearly, "was massacred on me lan's." his voice hissed out, the accent thick. He flicked his audits irritably. "I be Kerrigan, alpha 'ere. Yer ma better be gone so I doona hae to slap 'er fer not teachin' ye no' a wee bi' o' manners!" he barked roughly, but not unkindly. His matter of fact words avoiding rudeness. He turned to the older beast and tilted his head, eyes narrowing. "Who be ye? Bo'h o' ye." [/ul][/blockquote]

Suddenly, Finch smelled another brute. His nostrils flicking, and his ears trying to tune in to any sound that could be heard. His golden orbs shifted, and his head turned slightly to watch a brute approach. Finch could automatically feel the important presence of this male, his heart thumping faster in his chest, and his ears slicking back slightly. This male was endlessly more masculine than him, he could see, as for one he actually looked like a male. He lowered his stance slightly, his head dipping down to show the top of his head. A strong pang of intimidation came about as the wolf spoke, even though it wasn't directed at him. And, even more, his body lowered until he was laying on the ground, both his ears and fur slicked back. His paws lay in front of him, and his legs tucked beneath, his shoulder bones protruding from his back and framing the two small white stripes that began the rib cage pattern on his sides.
"Please excuse us," Finch said, speaking sternly.
His head tilted up towards the alpha, just enough so that he might be able to see his face.
"My name is Finch. I was not meaning to trespass, I was simply looking to be admitted into your pack."
Finch tried to keep his voice strong and respectable sounding, but also gentle and submissive. He had never faced an alpha on these terms before, and was still unsure as to how to go about things. Yes, he was stupid in these senses, as his mother never gave enough of a care to teach him things like this. He had been a lone wolf all of his life after his mother left, and now he was looking to join a pack, yet, didn't know much about it. Finch felt guilty about not scolding the young wolf for leaving an injured bird without consuming it, but he had been so distracted by the sight of another wolf that it didn't cross his mind.

Zei suddenly stopped, shying away even more, her paws shuffling backwards in a clumsy yet cute attempt to make herself as small as possible. She whimpered softly, the pure aura coming off this wolf that approached them now echoed of authority. She knew now she had come across the Alpha of the lands. She gulped, wondering how many beasts had fallen prey to those saber fangs that poked over his lips. His lime markings seemed to call to her, she so plain and normal, asides from her special mark.
However one look at this wolf and she knew he had been born to rule. Born with those markings, born magnificent. She couldn't help but gasp a little, in awe and fear of the brute. She couldn't take her eyes off him, and when he spoke to her in harsh and commanding tones, she flinched as if physically slapped across the face, blinking a little in surprise.
"Sorry sir. I-" She certainly hadn't forseen getting caught in the act of her little slaughter house, especially by two older wolves, and one the Alpha no less. "I thought it was already dead see, it weren't moving none when I left it." She nodded vivaciously as if to further prove her case.
"It were flapping about like crazy see, like a rabid bird. It were foaming at the mouth too. I thought it best put it out of misery. Give it a mericful ending. See?" She cocked her head a little at him , her tail swaying about nervously behind her.
"I guess it was well cos me mams dead. Sorry sir again. I didn't mean no harm sir"

he murmured, tilting his head in a nodding bow. It was giving over command and the other should know that. it was a sign of respect. He was no better than Finch, but he was the alpha. "An' ye doonae hae ta be so low ta 'he groun'," he added, his grin turning wry now before he turned to the pup and it dropped into a more disapproving appearance. She was a young thing, small and afraid, and his expression softened. He leaned his head down slightly, not bother his neck was exposed and he was nearly lower than the crouching male as he faced the pup at her height. His ears flicked to a more easy position and he sighed. The pup started to speak, her words...uneducated. It wasn't a problem, but if she stayed he'd have the pack teach her proper usage. And she was lying. He shook his head and waved his paw for the female to stop speaking, though he supposed she was already done. "Ye be a wee mi'e, luve, bu' 'here will be nae lyin' ta me. I ken well wha' happene'. I was 'here. I was wa'chin'. 'he bird wasnae dead," he said, his voice sharpening at the word. "Woul' ye like i' much if'n I stuck ye thro'gh 'he paws an' lef' ye ta die?" he offered, lifting both eyebrows in question. [/blockquote][/ul]

Finch flinched slightly as the male talked. He had never been exactly brave or courageous, so he was scared to stand normally in fear that it might displease the magnificently colored brute. The alpha's words pricked at his ears, and he calmed down a bit, sensing there was no hostility. Though, he was rather embarrassed when the wolf mentioned his overdone position. His frame rose slightly, but he still stayed rather low to the ground, as the strange sense of fear had still not left it's cozy home in his belly. Though, this was alright, he thought, as the respect for the alpha was present as is should be.
"Sorry."
Finch said, his eyes fixed on the ground awkwardly. But his eyes didn't stay fixed for long, because as the young wolf started talking, they shifted upon her. She was lying to him. She knew he'd seen her spike that bird and leave it. But he said nothing of it, because he felt guilty for not disciplining the pup in any way. Finch shook his head at the naivety and the improper words of the young wolf; he sure hadn't been raised the same.

Her eyes widened in surprise as the Alpha immediately disregarded her lie - how could he have known? She would certainly take more care if she was to practise on other living things in future. Still, she was amazed that she wasn't convincing enough. Perhaps it was because he was the Alpha. She assumed great wisdom came with the post. However she in her heart cared not for wisdom, only power.
As if sensing her desired, the insignia upon her thigh tingled slightly, a constant reminder of her deed and debt, to be paid in full someday. Not a debt to be taken lightly, even she with her youth and limited knowledge was aware of that fact.
Bringing her eyes slowly back up to meet him, she quivered a little, and gulped audible before deciding what she should say next. Of course she wouldn't like the same treatment! Only a masochist would say yes to what the massive brute had proposed, yet she shook her head with childish vigour anyway, making sure she would get her answer across. She wondered whether he had the ability to use her powers against her. In a swift decision, she thought it not worth the risk of finding out.
"No sir, I wouldn't like that none" She said, a little sulkily, she had after all, just been reprimanded.
"But it were rabid sir, thing almost attacked me right in muzzle, here" She indicated her nose with a dainty paw, nodding continuously. Of course, the bird was no such thing as rabid, but she was sure she was the only one close enough to see that at the time.

Kerrigan sighed. The youth these days. No respect, no proper training. Maybe it was because there were so many damn orphans around. Pups that still should be suckling left on their own. Wolves with weak personalities allowed to breed. Liars bred liars, evil spawned evil. Kerrigan should know. He'd come from rough stock, no matter that he showed a gentle side to those in his pack. He could still sense and feel that twisting, gurgling center that throbbed with the want for much more than he had now. He could remember blood on his teeth, the tasste in his mouth, the thrill of power. But he had a pack, a mate. Responciblity. Unlike Lucid, he was smart enough to realize his pack needed the land more than he needed more of it. If he lost the land his pack would be lost and there would be nothing at all. Kerrigan was comfortable with what he had, happy at points.
His tail swung to the side as he listened to more lies from the pup, the males soft sorry having a flick of an ear in answer. It wasn't rude, it was a small sign that said wait a moment. The pup needed a lesson, small but it would help her later on. Her words were still that of an uneducated fool, but she had a mind he could see running. It was an intelligent one, but it had no knowledge on when to lie and when to come clean. He lifted a brow, the lime dot rising as he arched his ears. His maw droppe dopen, lime gums and tongue flashing. "Lass! I hae a'ready 'old ye! 'Twas wa'chin' I was," he said, nodding shortly. "An' rabid carries a smell. Och aye, i' does! 'Tis a 'ealthy enuff bird." His tone wasn't dark or overbearing, nor that of a lecturer. It was still one that would make a wolf listen and wish to take it all in.
His tail curled high over his back, the lime underside sparking. His lime claws dug into the dirt, but no one would be looking at that. He leaned in, his voice low. "I ken well yer type lass. Bu' 'he 'hing ye seek cannae be foun' wih'ou' a lil' 'hought behin' it, true? Ken well when ye must tell the truth." His ideas passed on he turned his attention to the male. He tilted his head, as if finding his thoughts before speaking again. The deep burr in his voice was a bit lighter, since he'd noticed it slipping. "I be Kerrigan, alpha 'ere o' course. Wha' brings ye?"

She listened intently, her ears pricked respectfully, her eyes sharp and alert, watching the extremely large brute's every move. She knew better than to ignore his warnings, knew better than to remain defiant of him. Hating herself for it, though showing it nonetheless, she allowed her shoulders to slump and her ears to slowly slink downwards, she scuffed the dirt with a paw, no longer looking up at the Alpha male. Her tail curled around her legs, and she gave a small sigh.
"Sorry sirs. I won't be lying to you no more. I were jus' curious though. To see what it did feel like, havin' total control. I guess I found out I didn't like it none. Got scared I did sir." She said, quietly at first, as if suddenly ashamed, but she spoke louder towards the end, trying to keep her point across. She did not want to appear vicious to this wolf. She needed this opportunity, a pack, perhaps even a family to live with.
"Guess I was shocked so. Walked off, to stop me eyes lookin' at the thing. Mam always said if ya dun't like summing, jus' walk away. Guess I didn't like the idea of havin' control. Not one bit sir." Her paw scuffed the dirt again, a small pile beginning to form. She sounded almost pensive, as if far away and not really aware that she was speaking her thoughts aloud. Internally her brain sparked about, active and aware. A right little actress, she was.
"Sir...if you dun't mind sir..." She paused, looking up at the brute now, a question evident in her amber eyes. She had tried to make them teary, thinking of her dead family, but none came. Thats because I knew they were going to die. I was told they had to die. I killed them. Still she managed to make them at least a little shiny.
"I dun't have no family of me own, so sir, could I join yours? As a member of your pack. If you'll have me sir. I'm bit little now, but I'll grow big soon." She gave the brute a nervous smile, allowing her tail to wag, ever so slightly.
