Quinny is done Foxxeh
NAME: Tarquinn the Rogue
NICKNAMES: Quinn(y), Tark(y)
GENDER: Male
DESIRED RANK: Pup of Fukai Waterfalls
AGE: 7 months
LOOKS: Tarquinn is a completely mottled wolf, with no one color being more dominant than any of the others. Bright orange, red, green, blue, and yellow mingle evenly in his coat, giving him a quite unique appearance. Each hair almost looks different, because the colors are not present in patches or stripes but simply thrown together in his fur. It’s very hard to tell what color he is until he’s close, and even then the eye finds it hard to focus on his bright coat of many colors. As if that wasn’t enough to make him stand out, Tarquinn’s ears are the bright orange from his coat, and one each of his paws are blue, red, yellow, and green, those colors also forming socks that go up to about halfway between his feet and elbows. The tip of his tail is a bright purple- the only time that color appears on him.
Apart from his coat, Tarquinn in looks is a fairly normal wolf. At seven months of age, he’s not yet full-grown, and so his ears and paws are too big for him. He’ll grow into them before he reaches a year old. His tail is very bushy, the fur long and poofy. The rest of his fur is of medium length, and sticks up on the top of his head and in a line down his neck, making it look as though he has a sort of mohawk on his head and neck. It makes him look sort of punky. He’s of average build but very strong and lean, owing to the fact that he spent much of his life up to now wandering alone in the Kumori Plains. Resilient and tireless, Tarquinn will grow to be a great fighter once he comes into his full stature.
ELEMENT: Tarquinn is a chameleon- that is, he can change his color to blend in with any background. He does this by concentrating on the colors around him and willing his coat to change color. The pigments in his fur change color to match those of his surroundings, effectively making him invisible to anyone who walks by. However, this power does have certain constraints. When he is grown, Quinn will be able to stay hidden effortlessly; for now, though, it requires constant concentration and can be broken if he is startled or distracted. Also, one of the colors in his coat must be present in his surroundings in order for his powers to work. This could be a tiny flower on a rock face or the green stem of a plant, but if there are only browns, blacks, and whites around him, he cannot change color. Finally, the purple tip of his tail never changes color and is always visible as a little patch of purple in the air. He can hide it behind or under something- behind a tree, under a rock, etc- but it never ‘goes chameleon’ like the rest of him does.
When Quinn is older (ie when this second power is bought) his powers will develop into an ability to cause plants to grow around him in the bright colors of his fur (mostly small flowers but also vines and creepers) in order to make any surroundings suitable for him to hide in. As he is still a puppy, this power remains undeveloped and he is unaware of it.
PERSONALITY: This little pup is a quandary in and of himself. At that awkward stage between puppyhood and full adulthood, his personality is as conflicted as the colors in his fur. He is quite multifaceted, and at times parts of his personality may seem in direct contrast to other parts.
Outgoing and PlayfulTarquinn is a decidedly outgoing pup most of the time. He’s bouncy and almost always smiling. Nothing scares him, not adult wolves or horrible weather or natural disasters. Growing up on his own taught him that older wolves might take advantage of him if he showed any fear, and so he’s become fearless. This has led him to become rather cheeky, openly standing up to and opposing pretty much anyone he doesn’t agree with. But he’s never disrespectful about it- he talks back, but with a big grin and an adorable puppy look so that very few are the wolves who can stay mad at the little rogue. There is no one he won’t talk to- he loves to talk and could talk the most patient of wolves into gagging him with his own tail- and is endlessly curious. Quinn loves to explore and is always asking questions. His self-confidence is only surpassed by his love of questions. Other wolves can always see Quinn coming, as his tail is held aloft like a banner, his head high, and he’s usually bouncing as if springs have been tied to his big paws.
Quinn is very energetic, even for a pup, and doesn’t tire easily like most young wolves. Living on his own in the Plains has built up his stamina so that now that he has a chance to just act like a puppy within his new pack, he can do so with never-ending stores of energy. This little rogue likes to be on his own, despite the fact that most pups are not often without supervision, and puts most of his free time to good use, roaming about the Packlands and sticking his nose into everything he can find. As he does not have parents, biological or adopted, he is rarely hassled to stay near an adult, which he likes just fine. Quinn loves playing with other wolves- no matter their age- as he has only just been given the opportunity to play with someone other than himself. He is completely enamored of the Falls themselves and can often be found on the edges of the pools into which they pour themselves, romping in the water or chasing fish. Sometimes he’ll just sit and watch the water crash down for hours, fascinated by its power and speed.
Pensive and ThoughtfulThough Tarquinn is full of energy, cheeky and outgoing, he isn’t always a rambunctious young pup. He has a very quiet side as well. Sometimes the multicolored pup’s perpetually-active tongue will fall silent and he will lapse into pensive silence for days. During these periods, he continues to wander at will but instead of playing around and chasing shadows and butterflies, he finds a quiet place to sit and think, or just roams around with a thoughtful look on his young face. He will speak of spoken to but tends to reply in distracted tones and is quite obviously not giving his full attention to the speaker. These occasional periods of quietude reveal a surprising maturity below his bouncy exterior, probably developed during his months of wandering the Plains. Even his body language changes during quiet days- he holds his tail down, his head a little lower, and very occasionally will even be somewhat submissive to the Pack’s adults. This is not to be seen as brooding- Quinn lives completely in the moment, with no thought to the past or to the future, only the present, and as such has nothing to brood over. He never stays so suppressed for long, however, and is soon back to his old tricks.
Friendly and LovingTarquinn, though he has no parents, is everyone’s wayward son. He is never (well, okay, very rarely) rude to other wolves, and though he usually has a snarky, cheeky comment for everyone, he also has a kind word. Quinn loves to talk, but that’s partly because he likes to listen. What he really loves is
conversation- talking
with other wolves, not just
at them. He’s a kind wolf, even though he’s just a pup, and very nice to pretty much everyone. He is always willing to offer a smile and a wagging tail, and one of his goals in life is to make friends with everyone in the whole wide world. Basically, if someone doesn’t talk to Quinn within about five minutes of his noticing them, he will go talk to them.
Withdrawn and Wary On the surface, Quinn loves everybody. And this is true, to a point. However, willing as he is to talk to anything that can talk back (and some things that can’t) he very rarely opens up about himself. Starting life on his own taught him that it was best to keep himself to himself, and that opening up was just asking to be betrayed or otherwise hurt. Trust never struck him as a safe thing, so he avoids it as much as he can. As a result, Quinn is wary of letting anyone close. This does not mean he’s depressed in the least- as has been said, he loves life and is outgoing and excited. He just doesn’t have any close friends and is pretty sure it’s not a good idea to have any. (Hopefully some concerned and persistent wolf will prove him wrong one day, as everyone should have at least one close friend.)
EYES: Quinn’s eyes are a bright, keen purple, only a little darker than his tailtip. Glimmers of blue and a green azure are visible deep within them.

HISTORY: Tarquinn the Rogue was born simply Tarquinn, to a pair of loners who lived in the Kumori Plains, Harley his father and Kara is mother. He was one of a litter of five pups, one of whom was stillborn. His parents were understandably saddened by the loss of one of their children, but took solace from the surviving four and gave their love equally to their tiny pups. Of the four living siblings, only Tarquinn received his distinctive coloring, which is a mix of the colors present in his parents’ coats- the other three pups were patched rather than mixed. At the beginning of his life, Quinn was very happy, as a young puppy ought to be, and loved playing with his siblings in their shared den. His parents were loving and doting, and though they belonged to no Pack, their little family was happy together. Though his thoughts were not yet well-formed due to his age, Tarquinn looked forward to the rest of his life with excitement. Sadly, this idyllic life was not to last.
Soon after the siblings reached a month of age, the Plains entered a period in which prey was very scarce as migrating herds moved off to greener pastures. With four hungry pups to feed, Kara and Harley were forced to roam further and further from their den in order to find large game- rabbits alone would not support a family of six for long. The parents were loath to leave their pups unattended, but they were both below full strength from weeks without steady food and could not reliably bring down large game on their own. So each morning they left their four children in the den while they went out to hunt, sending a silent prayer up to the gods of Aelyn to watch over them. Apparently, the gods weren’t listening.
One day, while Kara and Harley were out searching for food, disaster struck their helpless pups back home. A marauding group of wanderers, half-crazed with hunger, happened upon the den. Though normally wolves balk at eating their own kind, these were so hungry that they didn’t think twice, but attacked the month-old siblings. Tarquinn was terrified and wished he could just disappear. And a miracle occurred- disappear he did, as his power manifested for the first time and Quinn blended in with the back wall of the den. The hungry attackers didn’t notice a tiny purple tailtip slip past them and out of the den to freedom and safety.
When his parents returned home, Quinn was huddled in the back of their now-empty den, crying quietly to himself as he tried not to think about what had just happened. Kara and Harley were horrified by what they realized had happened to their family, but still ran to their surviving son and comforted him in his terror. When dawn came the next day, the sun arose on a much diminished family of three, stunned and struggling to overcome their grief.
After that, one parents was always home with little Tarquinn. This, they both agreed, was the only way to keep their son safe and alive- but it also meant the other adult had to hunt alone. A wolf on his own has little chance of bringing down a deer, especially when he is weak from hunger and worry. But Kara and Harley would not go out together from fear of losing Tarquinn the same way they lost their other three pups. As time dragged painfully on, the hunting parents brought home food with less and less frequency, and the three of them grew hungrier and hungrier but were determined to press on, sure that things would turn around soon. And for Quinn, they would, but not for months to come and only after disaster visited him again.
The gang of wolves that had murdered Quinn’s three siblings returned past the den without warning, searching for anything to eat. Kara was alone with Quinn when they struck, having waited until the stronger Harley was gone. Though she fought valiantly for herself and her two-month-old son, Kara was no match for five starving wolves and fell to their teeth and claws. Again Quinn camouflaged himself and escaped unnoticed. When the marauders left, he sat alone in the cave and waited for his father to return.
However, Harley never came back to the den he shared with his mate and son. Tarquinn waited for a week for his father, but his footsteps did not sound on the approaching Plains and his blue mane never crested the next ridge. Quinn never discovered what happened to his father. In reality, Harley fell over a blind cliff and died on the rocks below, never knowing his mate was dead and his son alone.
Tarquinn was eventually driven out of his den by hunger and started his lonely wanderings. He was forced to learn to hunt prematurely, though he mostly survived on fish from the streams and the occasional slow rabbit. Several times he tried to join the wandering packs he stumbled across, but they always drove him out, seeing in him a young male and therefore an eventual threat to their Alphas. Eventually he gave up and at four months of age named himself Tarquinn the Rogue, a title that matched his proud tail and stiff mohawk but frankly sounded a little ridiculous when matched with the still-small pup.
At five months of age, Tarquinn the Rogue happened to wander in to Fukai territory, where he was discovered and brought to the Alphas. His frank, bold personality and tragic history won them over and he was accepted as a member of the pack, where he has remained happily ever since.
PARENT DESCRIPTION:Kara, Tarquinn’s mother, was a slight wolf with bright orange legs and a blue body. The blue and orange blended smoothly into each other with no abrupt boundary. A large patch of orange splashed across her back. She had a purple chest and eyes the same color as Quinn’s, though hers didn’t hold the blue and green.
Harley, his father, was of the same build as Quinn and had a red basecoat with green paws and socks. He stood about 5 feet at the shoulder, which is presumably how tall Quinn is going to get, though Quinn may be a bit shorter because his mom was small. Bright blue fur traveled from the top of his head down his neck to his shoulders, and stood out in a mane. Quinn get his head-to-shoulders mohawk from his father, as it is much like his mane but smaller and more well-behaved. Harley’s eyes were the blue and green that blend deep within Tarquinn’s purple ones.
