Glau here.
Have you ever wondered why you chose animal RPGs instead of human ones?
I have, and today I knew the answer why.
What are your thoughts on this question? Maybe you like both kinds, but in that case, please do explain what's so lovable about human RPGs.
I'll tell you my reasons later, if you want.
Just a wondering thread, and you don't have to reply. But if you do, I'll be (almost) eternally grateful to you.

It could be because humanity has so many flaws and tends to bring about unwanted doom and wars and whatnot... That, and the fact that we don't know what animals think and we dare to explore that and whatnot.
That could be it... didn't quite come out how I had pictured it, but I hope you get the ideas.

I do both, so I can't really say... Kinda like my sexuality....*snort*
Edit: Yeah, really mature....ah well, anyways...It might just be that playing pretend is funner when you're an animal compared to a human

It could be because humanity has so many flaws and tends to bring about unwanted doom and wars and whatnot... Just thought I'd point something out that's a little ironic compared to your post, Sway-
When roleplaying (animals or not) we constantly bring in wars, differences and antagonists that could be considered much more violent than actual reality. Take Lucid for example, talk about brining unwanted pain and doom upon the land. Besides, look at all the character's pasts as well; most (if not all) are troubled or stressed in some way.
So do we really roleplay animals because we can escape the 'flaws' of mankind...or do we roleplay animals because we can accent it with the claw and fang?
Just my thoughts...which are pessimistic and as dark as usual.

... Interesting replies.
On the point of the flaws... It's the human flaws we're escaping, really, isn't it?
We humans fight with things we create. We use, what, bombs and chemical sprays and poison gas... While animals fight with teeth and claws. Animals are purer, in this case. When they fight, they get hurt, whereas when humans fight, it's more often than not that the soldiers, not the people who actually wanted wars, get hurt. And killed.
A shame, really. Considering we're, what, oh-so-high-teched and much greater than animals. *Snorts in response and rolls eyes*
And for me, it's because I can escape reality. Probe at unknown things and explore them. View matters from a different perspective. What effect does the global warming have on the animals? We would never really know, but by RPing, maybe we could glimspe it.
I don't know, I think animals are actually purer and cleaner than humans... In some way. That's why I veer away from human RPGs. It's like a form of avoiding what we don't want/like to face, might I put it that way?
S***. Talked too much.

Lol I agree.
And yes, Punkeh, Like I said, I wasn't sure exactly how to say what I wanted to say. I like Glaukos' answer better.

DOUBLE POST TIME!!! Haha.... SHhhh!
Okay, not that this is my viewpoint, but perhaps we would rather roleplay animals in order to project our flaws onto them to make them seem as if they aren't any better than us in yet another way than we already downsize them.
Just a thought... I'm in my Death and Dying class right now and I'm in a discussion/debating mood.. haha.

Hah, personally I'd interpret it as trying to make them seem less godlike and more real. X3
