Post your ideas and rules you think the staff members of any forum you are on should follow. When you joined Aelyn, you had a set of rules and guidelines that the Staff posted.. what do you think your staff should do? For an example of what I'm talking about, please check out this form topic on another forum. I thought it was neat and I was wondering what you guys thought. Perhaps we'll even make a thread/board for staff members to follow when we open up staff applications rpg-directory.com/index.php?showtopic=16351Let us know your opinion!

- Admins should follow and know their own rules. I don't like it when I member is supposed to follow the rules exactly and an admin or staff member can get away with being below the standards. It's really annoying.
- Listening. If there's a problem on the site I would like to be able to speak to a staff member about it and not be told that my opinion doesn't matter.
- Respect and Politeness. I like when I can talk to the admins easily and not get snubbed in the process. Or be taken lightly just because I am a member.
- No favorites is also high on the list. Those staff members that form little groups and give away high positions to their friends even though they may not be the best for the job just because they know them.
- Staff Members that think they are superior to others on the site are extremely annoying. They wont role play with you, only with your friends because they believe their character is too high end for such things.
- Staff Members should stay by their word. They say they will ban someone for something and they don't just seems a little irritating to me.
- Staff Members should be friendly, or as friendly as they can be.
- Compliments are always good.
- Staff must be up to date, and know what is going on with eh site at all times. I don't like it when I can never get into contact with a staff member if there is a problem.
- Admins shouldn't speak like machines. It's nice to know there is a person behind the text.
That's it for now. May add more later. ^^

Good list! Oh, and if anyone wants to, after they post the list, you can feel free to PM a staff member suggesting things and analyzing how well they follow the list. I feel it will help the forum... Don't you guys? While improving the forum, we'd be improving the staff and members

I'd like to revive this topic. We have new members, so new opinions are in order!

I must say Ker's list is really good, and states pretty much all I was going to put up for this. The main one of Ker's I would like to restate, being: Staff shouldn't speak like an automated program. I've been on sites where I had RL friends as admins (not their site though) The staff literally had a mini rulebook on how to reply. For approving chars, copy and paste #3, for denying them, copy and paste #7, for Pm'ing someone about rule breaking, copy and paste #12, than pick an offense or multiple offenses from the form below. It was rather sickening to be quite honest. The whole forum felt quite cold, members never answered questions, and you could never get a straight answer from the staff. -shrug- I can understand having a form to copy and paste from in a site with 300 members and 20 staff, where things are hectic, but we're a lot smaller, so why give people a cold shoulder. I was reading over the RPG link that Sway posted at the top, and I stumbled on a really good one. Even as much as I hate having to punish/getting punished, I do think that staff should get reprimanded a lot more for rule breaking, I'm talking like, bigger stuff than say, not posting 250 words in a post, which I think almost all staff here do that, if not twice that. But yeah, I know it sounds a bit unfair and harsh but it seems to me that staff should be ratted out more than usual for rule breaking, simply because, staff are often rolemodels of the other members. xP from what I've seen in my couple months in Aelyn, our staff are really good about looking professional without being robotic, and pretty much always obey their own rules and are good rolemodels. You asked, im just throwing it out there To not end this post with bitching, I now spend more time on Aelyn than I do on facebook.
