with my heart in my throat... A deep inhale, warm Spring air tingling along his passageways and down into his lungs. It was held there for a moment and then huffed outward in one great exhale, a myriad of scents registering in the male's intellect. Wolves. The distinct perfumes of more then one wolf danced in the air here, each as brilliant and distinct as colors in a rainbow. And they all twined around one another, clearly a closely knit pack. Dark ebony claws gounged into the earth as the full grown brute fidgeted in place like an overeager whelp. God, why was this so hard? The thought of stepping over this boundary, putting himself at the mercy of a leader he did not know for acceptance into a pack...a family...it caused him to balk like a stubborn mule. Sinew flexed along the lines of his jaw and skull as he ground his teeth together, a low snarl of frustration creeping past the cage of his maw. Fathomless mahogany eyes narrowed in concentration, round ears flat against his broad skull. This would not beat him. His past would not, could not, control his future. It was his to live, unhaunted by the ghosts of the past. The thick fur of his mane was ruffled, standing on end such was his concentration and frustration. It was probably he looked somewhat like a lunatic, getting all worked up over what would appear to be nothing. He was aware of it and thankful for the fact that, for the moment, he seemed to be alone standing just outside the branching reach of the forest.
i stumble forward...
How long he stood in that position he couldn't say, but eventually his weight began to shift, rolling smoothly from sturdy limb to sturdy limb. The sun, so pleasent earlier in the day, now warmed the burnished bronze of his shaggy pelt to an uncomfortable temperature. Even nature seemed to be goading him along. With a muffled groan, almost unaudible, one ample paw lifted from the soil and slid cautiously into the cool shadows of the forest. And with that the masculine statue gleaming in the sun melted and became a wolf once more. The other three paws followed the first in a steady, solemn rhythm that was muffled by the thick grass beneath them. He didn't stop again, knowing that if he did it would only be for the moment it would take to turn around and run again. Away from everything his lupine soul cried out for. So the beast slid deliberately deeper and deeper into the forest. He followed his nose, calmly seeking out the paths were scent was laid more heavily then others. It wouldn't be long before someone, anyone found him, and then he would know.

Gentle winds blew through the trees, singing a song of life and joy to Corrinths heart. He had been away for far too long and didn't realize how much he missed his lands and his pack. They had remained so closely knit, even in his absence.
A wolf had trespassed in his lands. He quickly picked up the scent and followed it, feeling for the wolfs energy with his own abilities. Finding it quicker than most wolves would, he moved onward and quickly came to the wolf that had moved onto his lands.
"Hello, loner. My name is Corrinth and I am the alpha of these lands. What brings you here?"[/b] He stood tall and proud, his wings folded to his back and his mane blew around his face in a very regal fashion. He looked at the loner and waited for him to speak. Corrinth was usually a very generous wolf, but his pack always remained first within his mind.

The authoritive tones of the Alpha brute's voice fell welcome upon his ears, quiet steps halting abruptly as he turned his rangy frame to see the wolf who would be his leader. Fathomless eyes took in the regal masculinity of Corrinth, noting with some small envy the wings that rose from his shoulders and brushed against his back. A gust of wind shuddered through the trees as he stood in silence for a moment, the long strands of his bronze coat twisting in it's invisible fingers. Hopefully this Corrinth wouldn't take it too personally if he was silent for a moment or two longer then was really polite. It'd been so long since he'd been in any company besides his own...and even when he'd travelled with Akello and Nefertiti their conversations had never been lengthy.
After another moment he dipped his lean muzzle earthward in acknowledgement of Corrinth's authority here, the bright gold ahnk twisted around his left eye was visible at this angle all the way down to where it ended beneath the muscle of his jaws. "Greetings Corrinth. I am Amrit, and I seek..." His low voice trailed off into indecisive silence, most unlike the usually confident male. How exactly did one say that he was looking for a way to get on with his life without sounding completely idiotic? "I seek a new beginning, if you will have me." There. That was much better sounding then some useless sob story. He was here for business, to prove that he was a warrior worth having around.

Corrinth looked at the brute before him. Something about him didn't bother Corrinth, though he could see that this wolf had been through a lot. Nodding his head respectfully, Corrinth listened to his words and to his introduction. His crimson eyes held compassion within them, as well as authority.
"Its nice to meet you, Amrit. As for joining the pack, welcome. New beginnings are always a nice way to start over, as I have learned through my years on these lands."[/b] He gave a warming and compassionate smile before sitting and adjusting his wings while doing so.
The wind, as it so often did, blew through the trees, bringing the scent of the woods and the mixture of scents from the various wolves that inhabited the area. His bearded mane moved gently as the wind blew through it, causing his appearance to seem more regal than anything, though Corrinth did not hold himself as better than any other wolf just because he was in an authoritative position.
Corrinth took one more look over the brute, taking in his appearance. He was most unlike many of the other wolves Corrinth had met, with is fur and appearance very rogue-like, though this didn't put him off to the brute, but more or less made him more curious about him. The feature that stood out the most to Corrinth was the symbol over the brutes eye. He remembered vaguely similar symbols in his travels, though he couldn't quite remember their origins. Not that it mattered.
Corrinth waited patiently as he looked directly at the brute once more, waiting for him to speak.

Deep brown gaze met the bright crimson gaze of Corrinth, his Alpha, and the brute found that he was pleased by the compassion he saw there. All too often the Alpha Male of a pack was ruthless, empty of any empathy toward the members of his land, and that a good leader did not make, in Amrit's opinion. He watched as Corrinth settled down onto his haunches, following suit after a moment and wrapping the length of his rump and setting across his heavy paws. A small smiled curved his inky lips upward, pleased by the quick and painless acception into the pack. "My thanks Corrinth, your compassion is greatly appreciated." A deep breath rushed into his lungs, huffed out briskly a moment later as he took in the scents of the forest around him. It shimmered and danced with the scents of the pack, his pack. And it was pleasing to think of it that way. He could now pick out the distinct musk of Corrinth among the others, and soon his own musk would twist and twine along with the rest of them. A yawn parted his jaws at that moment, pink tongue running along his lips in satisfaction afterward. "So tell me, what are the other members of the pack like?" A sharp curiosity piqued suddenly within him, wondering who it was that he would be spending the majority of his time with.
