Kavus white voids glanced down at the fragile form resting in the soft bed of white hare fur. The pup had been a major part in his life for several weeks now, he stayed obediently beside her always, never swaying his tail that now wrapped gently around her shielding her from the cold winds outside. This was his life, this white lump that shivered so weakly, was all he was and nothing could change that. He wouldn’t lose her, he wouldn’t.
This was the forth night he lay watching her, his little girl and his world. He wouldn’t sleep untill he knew nothing would ever harm her and until her leg healed she was being harmed. She was suffering beside him and he was helpless. His gaze traveled to the oozing stump where her lug should have been. It bled like wild staining the soft fur she lay on, yellow puss dripping slowly down the dead flesh. Kavu’s stomach lurched uncomfortably, gagging he threw his body forward but all that came up was a hacking gasp. There was nothing to lose, he had gone hungry this whole week.
His eyes found there place back to her shallow features. Her heaving breath only just making its way into her fragile child lungs. “oh my sweet little may flower, why do the fates curse you so?” a whine escaped him but he quickly clamped his jaws shut. Hoping this escape of emotion had not woken her. He sighed as she continued her rasping breath. “poor little child” he rested his warm cheek to hers, a tear slowly building beneath his eye.
“big kid” Fae giggled, her voice weak with illness. “oh my I’m sorry” Kavu gasped lifting his head, the tear leaving his lower eyelid and falling down his brown fur. “oh my sweet little may flower I am so sorry, please rest.” his voice echoed around him but she had already fallen to slumber.
“I’m sorry my sweet child, I’m sorry but… but…” his voice caught in his throat momentarily before each word dripped from his maw, like an acid to his ears it seemed to burn through to his very heart. “I must leave you” with that said he lifted his form. His legs shook at first but he steadied them before lowering his head to the girl, he nudged her softly then pulled a rabbit skin slowly over her, it would keep her warm but not for long.
----------
He burst through the building blizzard, cold tearing at his flesh and biting into his very being. He remembered the first time he did this for his sweet little may flower…
Finally he reached it, the cave where the wolves rested peacefully waiting out the storm. Kavu’s voice rang clear though the night, clearer than anything he had ever spoken. “Please, I need help!” his head swayed from one woken face to the next “PLEASE, HELP!”
((twas board and thought it might be cute teehee))
