A red femme lay on the floor of a cave high above the waterfalls, hidden from view, panting. No, she was not panting because it was hot, actually it was freezing cold outside, a fact that worried the soon to be mother. She and the alpha of Fukai, also her mate, had bred early, which resulted in this early birth. She was nervous, and scared that she would be a awful mother. All these crazy notions she kept inside, no one was around, and she couldn't help but feel in sufficient, and lonely up here in this high haven. Hidden from the world below. Cindershock hated that her pups had to be born in such hard times, with dwindling prey and water, and with Lucid's evil ways finally being thrown out into the open. The Misuteriasu Mountain Pack alpha was a horrible wolf, evil and wrong in everything he did, and he had to be stopped, but there was nothing the crimson fae could do.
The alphess laid her head on the ground, and let her tongue loll out in exhaustion. She closed her eyes, and tried to envision what her little darlings would look like. Would they look like Zephyr? Or her maybe, or maybe a mixture? Hell, maybe even something not even close to either one of them. This was all the use Cinder could be to the upcoming battle that she knew would happen, sitting in a cave, being safe, while her pack fought. Some, she knew, deep inside her, would not come back. Some would be injured. And most would live. She knew her mate would take care of the pack while she was...incapacitated... but she couldn't help wanting to help.
No, this was all the help she could be, it would take a bit of worry of her mate.
Cindershock woofed softly, hoping the said mate would come to her. It was almost time, and the pains in her belly were getting closer and closer together. All the young mother could do was wait now, wait for her mate, wait for the battle to come, and end, and wait for her pups to come. She was in for a long day.

His muscles rippled beneath his golden pelt as he paced, back and forth, to and fro. His strong teeth chewed furtively against the soft flesh of his gums as he paced. His mind raced with a thosuand thoughts all at once, melding into one then whizzing off into a million million different directions as he p[aced. And all because he was waiting.
The golden wolf Zephyr had awoked feeling something different today. Not just because the normally warm spot that had so often been occupied by his dearest Cindershock was merely lukewarm and that she was not there. Because today she seemed avoidant of everyone. Nobody had seen her. And because he had this feeling, the feeling of anticipation that only comes at a certain time in ones life; when one is expecting the most unimaginable thing to happen.
But it was not a bad anticipation, oh no, not of the likes of Lucid, not like waiting for him to come, unnanounced and rabid, to their peaceful packlands. This anticipation elated his heart and set it aflame, raised his senses so that every drum of water against the rocks, every whiff of a new scent upon the crisp breeze, every footstep was more defined, more obvious to him.
He felt atop the world today, and he had no reason why. Pacing, pacing, forever pacing. His mind tossed and turned as his muscles rippled. The pups, the pups, it had to be the pups why Cinder was not here, why she had hidden herself. Those tiny soon to be bundles of little fur, was that why she had hidden? It had to be, it had to.
His thoughts were a flurry he could not think straight. He saw stripes upon the walls, saw his golden paws berneath him blurr and bend. He was crying? Small tears dripping down his muzzle. Why did he fear? He feared for her life, fear that she would not survive the brithing process, fear for the lives of the little pups, fear for not being a good father. Fear of rejection, could pups reject their own father? Was it even possible? He thought perhaps.
His pacing brought him farther back into the den, back into the deep crevices of the waterfall den. Few times had he come farther than the entrance and only to test the levels of damp, the warmth. If the pups and others needed to use the alcoves as havens, they would have to be suitable for living.
Something pricked his ear, made it swivel upon its joint. A small sound, a mouse perhaps? No, far too defined in his nervous state. A woof, a woof it was! His lungs paused for a moment, frozen by the sudden thudding of his great heart beating against his ribcage. His wings flexed once, taill lashed twice and he leapt, bounding towards the sound. His Cindershock.
In the more wider spaces of the caves, Zephyr bounded upwards and took wing, beating his wings furiously to gain height and speed. His eyes flickered as he watched for that flash of pure red. Higher he flew, landing upon a legde leading into a little cave high above the waterfalls, hidden from view. His gaze softened as he saw her, lying, heaving.
She had obviosuly felt her pups within her, ready to burst forth, and left to birth them in peace. Why had she called for him? He looked away from her, ashamed of her beauty so unmarked, yet also ashamed of that pained look upon her face, the pain he had caused. It was no doubt his doing. However, they would get through this together. But was it right? Should he be here at that crescendo? At that final moment of birth? He wanted only the best for his Cindershock.
Finally he strode forwards, whimpering quietly in reply to her woof, stretching his head down to nuzzle at an ear, closing his eyes, relishing in her warm fur and nourishing scent. She was close.
"My dear, do you need anything? You are in pain...are they...almost here?" He spoke slowly, hesitantly, yet sure of his words. He had never been in this situation before, yet neither had she. They would make it through together, as always.

((I could have Masina come to help with the pain and whatnot with her healing? And with the one pup, she could attempt to heal it to add something extra to the RP, but that's up to you.))

((Yeah I was gonna call for her hehe, to be like a midwife and such, cos Zephyr's a guy and naturally knows nothing about birthing ^^. I'd love that! If Cinder's ok with the attempted revival then that'd be awesome! well, not for the pup but awesome rp wise...o.o))

Cinder stayed laying on the ground when her mate made his way in. Though she would have loved to get up and greet him with a nuzzle and a lick, she could not in the current condition she was in. Her tummy contracted painfully again, and she wished that they would just hurry the hell up and get here. It was horrible, but not only was she excited for them to greet the world, there was another reason....The reason was this: she was excited for this horrible pain to be GONE! Cinder, though not wanting to hurt her love as she knew it would, groaned her pain out loud. She looked up hoping not to see the look of agony that was on her face, mirrored in her mates. She knew he would be feeling nervous, and upset that he had caused the pain, but she didn't care. She figured, with his personality, he was wondering if pups could reject him. He was so afraid of rejection, but how was it possible? Who could reject those warm golden eyes, and his lovely pelt of gold. Everything about him just drew you in, and Cinder could not live without him. This she was sure of.
Her stomach contracted again, just minutes after the last one. They were close, VERY close. Cinder wheezed out her exhaustion and smiled at her mate weakly.
"I need nothing but your presence, my love." she said quietly conserving her energy for when the pups needed birthed. "Yes, they are almost here, very close indeed." She panted, "I love you." It was plain and simple what she felt for him, but oh so complicated as well. The emotion of love, how to describe it. It was passionate and friendly, and just so....lovely? This emotion was the hardest for Cindershock to describe, but time for that later. Now, was pup time.

He shivered the anticipation of seeing her like this, in this twitching state, it made bile rise up in his throat. Unfortunately as a male he was not fit to deal with these sorts of things, and though he would stay by her side, he may not be able to watch when the pups finally came.
No, he thought, steeling his eyes, so golden orbs dulled by the sparse light. He would look his love straight in the eyes and support her, for that was what she needed at this time. Love and support. And he did love her, more than anything in the entire world, and he would support her through this harsh and painful time.
He arched his neck around so that he did not have to move, tucking his wings neatly into his back. Masina was needed for this, to ease her pain, to help her suffering. Masina would know better than he about childbirth, he was a male, a brute, he was no good for things such as these.
"Masina..." He gently called for her, a short bark, not too loud as to hurt his mates sensitive ears. Her senses were probably enhanced with the pain, he certainly felt electrified but he did not yet know how much she felt. He winced a little, hearing her sharp intakes of breath, and prayed that their Betess heard him and came soon.
Where was his little girl? Puru? Their adopted daughter should be here to witness the births of her siblings, even if she wasn't there for the entire thing. He could definately smell her, but she was somewhere hidden from sight. He gave a soft, reassuring 'woof' to let her know it was alright, and that everything was going to be fine. Well, he hoped.
"I am here my love. Don't worry. Masina will be here soon to help you. I'll be here, all the way" He smiled at her, warmth filling his heart as he looked at her, lowering his belly to the floor so that he could nuzzle her nose more affectionately.

Masina sensed Cinders coming birth with her own intuitive and motherly instincts and had been waiting nearby in case she was needed. Though she had never experienced childbirth herself, she knew it could cause lots of pain, but mentally and physically, which Masina could easily help Cinder with in this time.
There it was, the soft woof she was waiting for. She had been sitting nearby, after having followed Cindershock this way just to make sure her Alphess made it to her birthing spot safely. She stood quickly and with purpose as she made her way into the den with a sense of urgency, though collective calm. She gave Zephyr a kindly nod before turning her full attention to Cindershock.
"Cinder, I need to have you relax the best you can and take deep, calming breaths. I'm not going to touch you, but I am going to ease the pain, both physically and mentally to make this whole process easier, okay? Shortly, you will be feeling no pain." [/b] She smiled at Cinder before lifting one white and gold paw over the swollen stomach of Cindershock. She closed her eyes as a soft, golden glow began to emanate from her paw, surrounding Cindershock with a blanket of gold. Masina remained this way the entire time, waiting for the pups to come. Cinder was close to birthing, she could feel it, and her own excitement and anticipation was rising, though she remained as calm and collected as ever. If she couldn't get a suitable mate and have pups of her own, she would gladly help those who were having pups and able to share the love that comes from a significant other and take joy in that. Granted, she knew it wasn't the same as having a family of her own, which she had never really truly known for very long, but she was always happy to see others happy with the joy of family. Not to mention, she would always be more than willing to help look after the pups should her alphas ever request it.[/blockquote]

Cinder panted while she lay on the floor, her belly contracted yet again, they were so close. Her eyes shot open to stare at her mate as she heard his body shiver, and she smelled his fear and anticipation. Her senses felt so heightened, every little noise hurt, every little movement felt like needles were pricking her sides.
When Zeph called for Masina, Cinder couldn't help but sigh in relief. The betess would know what to do, and her healing power would help with this god awful pain. Her muzzle lifted in greeting to the betess, and while it was up she made a smile slide across it at her mate, showing her gratitude for his being there the whole way. She smelled her adoptive daughter Puru somewhere close and she was glad that the little purple wonder was close by for the birth of her siblings.
As the white and golden paw of Masina lifted over her belly she slowly felt all the fatigue and pain go away as quickly as it came. She relaxed, and smiled genuinly, and a sheen of sweat appeared across her brow, this was going to be a long day.
SEVERAL HOURS LATER
Cinder, having finally given birth to her pups looked down at the three, one still birthed, and she let a few tears escape, it looked exactly as she did, with her Zephyr's golden eyes, he was perfect, and they named him Youni. "Masina, can you help him? Can you save his life?" she choked out with desperation, her other two pups were nestled against her belly already sucking, one a golden girl, with her eyes, named Bhrin the first born, and the only live one with wings, pushed against her belly mewling, and the other, a perfect mix of the two of them did the same.
She smiled at them quickly and turned back to look at the betess, her mate in her view as her eyes pleaded with the both of them to find some way to save the little life.

He could sense them, sense their little heartbeats, oh so close. How many and how strong he could not tell until they were born, but he could sense them now. His own flesh and blood, the consumation of his and Cindershock's love, a constant reminder that within their pups their love would live on even after their deaths.
Shifting his body closer to the quivering form of his mate, he considered folding one wing protectively over her, but Masina was there, keeping her from feeling pain. He took a deep breath, watching helplessly as Cindershock steeled herself for the birthing process.
~
The waiting was the worst, the ominous feeling that his family wouldn't make it through hung over him like a darkened rain cloud. After an hour or so he turned away, unable to face it. Males have lasted only five minutes or many hours but sooner or later all would turn away, out of respect, or horror. It was an odd thing, but nobody could really explain why. It just didn't feel right, like catching your parents in a huge argument or something like that.
~
It seemed the hours would stretch on forever. The sight of her, his mate, a sheen of silvery sweat lining her brow, her clouded eyes, it was hard to bear. Finally it was over and his aching audits recognised the blessed sounds of mewling pups. His opened his startled eyes to see tiny balls of fluff. His tiny balls of fluff. He was finding it hard to swallow, his throat was all choked up.
Three of them. Three tiny angels, resting against their mother's belly. A little girl, her wings twitching happile as she suckled, her pelt the perfect imitation, that golden brown mirroring his own; Bhrin. A little boy, his blended pelt shivering as he quenched his thirst, the same dark fiery colour as his mother, yet blended with some lighter areas around his underbelly; Zanzibar. And the third, Zeph thought, turning his eyes to the third, a pand of sadness welling up with the salty tears that pricked his eyes.
The third, a little boy, the perfect image of Cindershock, his body curled up and cold and still; Youni. With joy there is also sadness. Zephyr hung his head; his heart blamed himself. He should have taken more care of his matye, should have eased her worries about the recent uprising, about their welfare more. This was his mistake.
His ears swivelled as he heard Cinder. Closing his eyes he gave a sigh before looking to Masina, his betess, their betess now, hope alight in his eyes, a pathetic hope.
"Could you try it? Please Masina. Try to save him..." His voice trailed off, he mainly knew it would be virtually impossible to revive the little one, but a small part of him still clung to that pathetic hope.
Words: 481 OOC: Again apologies for the wait Oo

Masina concentrated the entire time, the golden glow surrounding Cinder throughout the whole process and birth. Her eyes remained closed, yet her ears remained alert and her mind remained open to the world that surrounded her.
As the hours passed, she continued to keep her strong face, feeling the pups just before they came forth. She felt the heartbeats and could feel the very movement of the pups themselves, even before they exited the womb. She smiled calmly to herself as she focused on the lives in front of her.
One life being Cinders, a strong heartbeat and mind thumping wildly in the moment... another smaller heartbeat... a girl, strong, loving and healthy... yet another strong, smaller heartbeat of a male, and another form, though no heartbeat was felt. Masina's smile faltered as she opened her eyes and saw the pups come to the world. One... two... three. Hours had passed, and they were finally here, but heartbreak fell upon her as she gazed down at the little miracles.
One baby was still born...
Masina quickly turned her head to Cindershock as she spoke up, looking at her little miracles for the first time. She looked to Zephyr, sadness in her eyes as she listened to their requests. She bowed her head slightly, already knowing she wouldn't be able to help the pup, but she knew that she had to try, if only for her Alphas.
She made sure the other pups were fine as they made their way to their mother. After sensing no issues or concerns with them, she turned her gaze onto the still male. She held back the tears in her eyes as she raised a delicate paw over the fragile form. She closed her eyes, a tear escaping down her face as she did so, and concentrated hard on the area all over the pup, starting with the heart, the brain, the entire body. She focused on every aspect of the small pups anatomy, trying to find some sign of life for her to work with, but grew more and more doubtful by the second.
She opened her eyes after a few minutes, turning her downcast and heartbroken gaze toward her alphas. "I'm so sorry...." She gave them both an apologetic wolf, while another lone tear escaped down the other side of her face. She lowered her paw and sighed, giving another look to the unfortunate pup.

Puru knew something was up, but she could not tell what. She was at the bottom of the falls and saw her father's golden wings as he flew up to the top and vanished. Puru knew there was a hidden cavern up there. She had found it herself. She was hungry though and she smelled a rabbit. Her mouth starting to water, then her hunger took over and she ran. The white rabbit's fur was still changing though. Half brown and half white the rabbit ran away from the purple pup. Puru only chased. She was starting to tire and the rabbit pulling away from her. In her head she started to concentrate on an earthen hand coming up from the ground and grabbing the bundle of meat that she wanted. After a little bit it did happen and just as she closed in the hand released and the rabbit sprang into her jaws. She ripped at the fur hungerly. It had been close to a day since she had last eaten. By the time she caught the rabbit it had been nearly half an hour and she knew her parents would be hungry too since they had last eaten with her.
She then started sniffing around, trying to find two more rabbits. By the time she had found two others it had been a few hours. After she had hunted one she had buried it in the snow close to were the carvern was. Then she found another and making a bag like belt from dust she put the rabbits in it and started her way up the hill. The wind going up her back and bringing her scent up to the cavern.
She maganged to get up just in time to see the birth of her new siblings. Or one at least. The poor thing. Her braclet jingled against the stone floor as she walked over to her two foster parents and the betess.
"I brought food. And sorry Aunty Masina, I only brought two. I did not know you would be here." She said in apology as the bag she had made turned back into dust that blew away with the wind. She nudged one rabbit ot her father and the other to her mother. Then she looked at the unfortunate pup. She then started to cry just like the betess. She wished there was something she could do. All she could do though was mourn for her lost brother. She started whimpering as the tears overcame her. She was so swallowed by her mourning that she did not even notice the pain that was growing at her shoulders.

Cinder has nothing to say, there was nothing she could say. Her words choked back in her throat with grief, and when she opened her mouth to speak all that came out was a muffled cry of pain. The young red female nuzzled her other two living pups closer to her belly for warmth, fearing that they too would slip away, falling the spaces between her paws as young Youni had. Her breath quickened as Puru stepped into the cave. Her little purple wonder, so loving and sweet had just barely made it in time to see her foster mothers’ pain.
Cindershock turned her head trying to hide the tears that would not stop falling from her mate, who was sure to feel guilty, and from her daughter. She did not want to look as weak as she felt. She smiled slightly at the young wolfess, and wiped at her face with her paw, she turned her head, and opened her maw again “Thank you Puru,” And she looked at her mated face, rattled with grief, mirroring her own. Tears began to fall out of her eyes once more, and she curled tighter around the two mewling balls of fluff.
She motioned with her tail, the only part of her body that wasn’t completely exhausted for Puru, and Zephyr to come to her and curl their bodies around her own so that their family would be complete, except for Youni, poor, poor Youni. “Thank you for trying Masina,” she said, her voice choking up again and cracking at the end.
As she waited for the other two members in her growing family she closed her eyes, but snapping them open again when she saw a shimmering light appear on Puru’s shoulder blades. The red femme tried to stand, but stopped when her pups mewled with distaste. “Zephyr, her shoulders! Masina!” she yelled out pointing with her nose at the young purple pup.

His head dropped, almost as if he were merely a puppet, his head kept aloft only by the force of the great puppetmasters strings and the puppetmaster had just dropped those strings. His heart pumped adrenaline filled blood through his veins, a desperate beating in time with each shallow breath he took.
He still hoped, though he had known from the start Masina was trying an impossible task. Who could heal the dead? It was unthinkable. Yet still he looked for that glance in her eyes that told him, told them both that it was alright, that they would be six.
But of course no such look came. Only the expected look, and that drove a spear into his heart. His head dropped, eyes only for his son, his son taken from him in life and death. He wondered what he would have looked like as a young adult, growing up, what his laugh would have sounded like. None of that would ever matter now, he thought, as he saw Masina step away from the lifeless little body, shaking her head.
A whimper escaped his shocked lips as his shoulder drooped. He lumbered forwards, listening to nothing, hearing only the distant roar of the falls and the thundering beating of his own heart. Leaning down, he nudged the little ball of fur, so tiny and delicate. The coldness of his son shocked him, and he shuddered a little before opening his jaws and clamping them gently around the pup. Lifting him up, tears sprang into his eyes at how light he was, how easily crushed.
Youni was beautiful in death, however he would never know the friends he cold have made, the family that would have loved him so dearly. Zephyr turned away from his family, letting his eyes blink themselves free of tears as he ambled away into a corner of the alcove. Darkness consumed him as he stepped into the shadows, a part of him tearing off as he duplicated, a single duplication almost transparent.
The most of him stood there, collapsing to the floor, his muzzle closing over nothing as he watched his translucent self carry his son further away.
He walked onwards, heeding no calls, listening to nothing. He felt only the damp fur of his son as he held him closely in his jaws. Gently, ever so gently he came to a stop, lowering his head. He set the pup down and gazed at his shining fur. With one golden paw he carved a hole in the alcove, claws striking against stone and earth until the hole was a good size.
He picked Youni up gently, and place dhim in the tiny alcove within the alcove. His son would never leave this place, never see the light of day, never feel the warmth of the fae he loved pressing up against his own fur. Zephyr watched his son, from this angle it almost looked as though he were sleeping but the light was too scarse to see. He placed his great paw upon the tiny head, angling it so that Youni looked as if he were curled up, and not dead. His claws carved arcs in the floor.
He turned slowly, returning to [/b] his body with a crick of his neck and he shook himself, at once so far away from the body of his little son. He had to be joyous now. He was a father to three wonderful beautiful children, and he would not let Youni's death spoil the moment. His nose twitched, scenting Puru's little body not far off. He returned to stand by Cinder, watching her turn her head, his own dipped in shame. He leant forwards, giving her a soft lick upon the muzzle, tasting the slight salt of her tears. He smiled graciously as little Puru brought him a rabbit, giving her a lick on the head to show his gratitude, but he did not feel particularly hungry. Still he lowered his neck, tearing off a strip of raw meat, watching the brown tinge of blood spatter the floor mercilessly. The taste was tangy and somewhat refreshing, though it made him feel a little nauseous he knew now that he was hungry, and it had been....well what had happened before that had put him off. Then Cinder suddenly cried out and his mouth dropped open, claws unsheathing, ready to come to her aid as he sprung towards her...but it was not an attack. She had seen something else. Zeph's confused face followed her surprised gaze until it rested on Puru, and his face split into a goofy smile. "Puru! Look honey, your back!" There was no mistaking those lumps, those twitching forming lumps upon her shoulders. He had heard that growing them outside the womb was painful, as most pups grew them as their own bodies grew inside the womb, but it could happen after birth. His heart leapt for joy at the thought of his little Puru, yet did worry still about the pain she might be in. Words: 849 OOC: Apologies for the wait, been busy lately and having a lack of muse >.<
