Cinder stood there, letting her mate take the initiative, as he did so well, as much as he sweated it out, he always did so much better than she would have, he had a way with his words, to make them sound just right. He was the spinner of words in her thoughts, and she loved him all the more for it. She watched as he crouched down and butted her with his head, and gave her that loving lick and inside she sighed with love. It was as if his very pores poured out love for everything and anything, and again, that made her love him. She didn’t think anything could ever fathom how much she loved Zephyr, but she hoped something would, so she would have to make more so it couldn’t fathom it anymore.
For a while Zephyr stood there, almost contemplating, as Cinder saw it he was making sure he wouldn’t get shot down, he was so insecure in ways, but in others he was so sure of himself. And as usual she loved every fiber of it, secure or not.
He said his bit, and looked off into the distance shyly, and she pushed her head against his shoulder and nuzzled it licking a spot of fur that stuck up slightly. She looked at Puru with love in her eyes, she really did want for her to be her adoptive daughter, and she would love it if she played and helped with her little soon to be siblings. She couldn’t wait really; she couldn’t wait to have a family.
Her little purple head tilted like she was puzzled by the question, and she hoped it wasn’t her insecure nature kicking in as well, thinking that she wasn’t good enough. Puru’s eyes stared into her own, and she saw the kinship there. She smiled softly at the pup and nodded her head in encouragement.
The little purple fae said she was most certainly not and Cinder looked surprised. So what if she looked nothing like the two of them, they shared the purple trait, right? That counted. Even though Puru was not her biological daughter, she would never love her any less. “Puru, even though you did not come from me, and you are not our biological daughter, means nothing in my eyes, I will never love you less. Puru, you are our daughter now, through and through.” As the little purple body cuddled up with her orange one she motioned for Zephyr to put his golden one on the other side of the purple one, so they could make a Puru sandwich. Gold, purple, orange-red. It was perfect in every way.
