The black male landed with a heavy thud onto the land of the plains. The snow would have smothered the noise, but the waves of heat emanating from his form were so powerful that it instantly heated the snow into steam, causing a thick fog to float over his form. Crow’s glowing eyes burned with emotions, though he struggled to keep them from his thoughts. He couldn’t allow anger to cloud his judgement, or incline him to say or do the wrong thing. His mind had to be kept clear: especially with the task at had.
That brute, that beast…how dare he accuse his alpha-his father of such deeds. But…deep down…Crow had always felt a distance…a bad feeling about Lucid-his own father. Especially as a pup, Crow always had felt unloved, and ignored. But as he had matured into adolescence, he merely shrugged the still vivid emotions aside, thinking he had only been upset with his sister or brother. But something in the rogue’s words, something in his actions had shook Crow to the core, though he didn’t let Tola see. He had told her to stay home, watch the pack…but there was another reason he had not wanted her to come, deep within his chest, where he imagined his soul might lie, a knot was forming- a general ‘bad feeling’ could be felt. Something wasn’t right, and it had always been that way. The fear and uneasiness Crow had always felt toward his father slowly began to make sense within his mind. But he wouldn’t let his thoughts connect just yet, he didn’t want to accuse his father and alpha of something said by a rogue….he didn’t want to believe.
The black male let forth a chilling howl, raising his squared jaws to the skies. He had never known anyone to howl quite like him. Perhaps it was his deep chest and pure size in bulk-largest wolf of the realm-that allowed him to sing with such volume; Crow had never really put it to much thought. But with his bursting vocals, he called his father in the plains. He could smell him in the air, it was all around. His father had taken the loner’s lands for himself, even without word to his pack. They had all been confused, lost as to why he would steal the land from loners. But the bad feelings – the ones that Crow was now certain they all shared – had prevented anyone from second judging their alpha, or even asking questions. But Crow had had enough. He wanted answers. To everything. [/blockquote]

Lucid tread the loner lands, marking them with his scent, extending all the way to the mountains. Mira, he assumed, was marking them the other way, though he had yet to see her and reconvene with her after their little meeting with the loners. He flicked his tails behind him, a wry smile forming on his maw. His plans were falling into motion almost too perfectly, though too slowly for his liking. He wanted to move things along, to push things forward, but there was little he could do without the following of pack members and an army.
He tread the snow, hardly leaving a trace behind, as he moved like a ghost through the plains and his new lands. He memorized them, every landmark and scent in order to better know them and better use them to his advantage. By claiming the plains, he had made it so his borders touched all borders of all packs, giving him access to watch from his own lands and learn of his enemies... or allies. He chuckled quietly to himself, relishing in his growing moments of glory, when a call rang through his lands. His grin grew wider as he recognized it quickly as his own sons. Well, fancy that...
Lucid pinpointed exactly where his son was with ease making is way over silently and coming behind him merely feet away before announcing his presence.
"Why Crow... what brings you out this far? Shouldn't you be in the mountains, taking care of the pack? Or scouting the other packlands like I asked? You wouldn't want to disobey direct orders from your Alpha and father, now would you?" [/b] His voice was sickeningly slick and smooth, holding a silky tone to it that oozed through the air around them, surrounding them in the snowy terrain. He sat calmly, facing his son, his glowing eyes holding a slight bit of curiosity and knowing to them as he waited for his son to speak. He curled his tails around his paws, one on one side, two on the other, and wore a smirk on his maw as he looked at Crow.[/blockquote]

For the first time in his entire life, Crow raised his head high before his father, bringing his ears up to the sky to show his larger size. Looking down to his alpha, Crow’s glowing blue eyes stared into his kin’s. Eyes glowing amber, bright yellow…those where the eyes that he inherited, but unlike his father’s his showed emotion to others, emotions that he had never witnessed their counterparts convey. Crow had shown concern, thoughtfulness, respect, and even fear with his eyes. He had shown compassion and love for his family. Was his father capable of that? He was evidence of a relationship between his father and his mother, but love? Crow couldn’t imagine his father showing affection of any sort, and now that it had crossed his mind he couldn’t recall witnessing any. Could his father love?
Thoughts swam through his head, thoughts that Crow knew his father was reading-without permission- loud and clear. But he didn’t care. It would be easier this way anyways. Fa…Lucid could read everything on his mind, and there didn’t have to be any small talk before he got to the point. Crow’s tails flicked as he eyed down his own dad. They looked so much alike. Both huge in stature, dark coloration and flames upon their features; eyes both glowed, voices both deep and powerful. As a pup Crow had even picked up various aspects of his father. Unfurling and furling his wings when thoughts swam through his head, lashing his tail like a feline when frustrated, tail flicking with idle thoughts…looking at his father now – with nothing but doubts flooding his mind – Crow couldn’t recall the reason he had tried so hard as a pup and adolescent to be just like this male. Why he had ever wanted his approval, he couldn’t recall. Had it been fear, intimidation? Crow didn’t know, and suddenly…he felt like an entirely different individual.
His voice was strong and steady in the face of his father. ”Who am I?” He demanded an answer. [/blockquote]

Lucid watched his son's reaction, and smirked wider when it was exactly what he had hoped for. His son, now larger than he was, held his head high, like a leader, like his father, and looked at Lucid in the eyes. Lucid held his head in a dominant position, even before his son, and flicked his tails idly as he mused over his sons posture and words. He didn't answer right away, musing over the thought he had heard coming from his son.
Lucid? Not capable of love? How interesting for him to think this. Did he not exist? Mira loved Lucid... and did Lucid love Mira? Had they ever mentioned the words 'I love you' to each other? Lucid couldn't recall, not that it really mattered whether or not he loved his mate. He respected her, looked to her as his partner, but loved her? He doubted it. Lucid used others... and had chosen Mira because of her quick mind and good breeding qualities for strong heirs... but that was before Lucid had become immortal. Now he had no need for heirs, for he would rule his throne forever.
"Who do you think you are? Do you not feel the blood that runs through your veins?" [/b] He chuckled. Lucid could smell the blood that ran through his sons veins, he could hear it and he could feel its pulse, though he hadn't let on to any of this. His voice remained smooth and silky, his posture still and unmoving as he looked directly at his son, straight into his eyes, though it would always be hard to tell... what with having no pupils to direct his attention. Crow would know where he was looking though, he would feel it, because Lucid wanted him to know he was looking directly into his eyes, his mind and his soul. "We both know that's not the real reason you've come here. Now, what did you really want to ask me?"[/b] He continued to speak in his smooth tone, slick and invoking as he looked down at his son, even though his son was larger than he was. He continued to flick his tails idly as he pondered, listening to the thoughts of the wolf before him and musing on how useful he would prove to be in the future. Should he prove to be useless, he would kill him, and Lucid knew this, though he also knew that it probably wouldn't sit well with Mira. If he needed to, he would kill her too, and just mate another wolf that would be more productive for his plans. He had murdered family in the past, why not do it again in the present. If they were going to stand in his way, he needn't worry about heirs now, so he could kill them and not care less. He would pity them, and the usefulness they had and potential they could have had, but he would move on. He mused his own thoughts, listening to Crows, as he waited for his son to speak further.[/blockquote]

No, Crow didn’t feel the blood that ran through is veins. They felt vacant and empty, with him not knowing his true roots. He didn’t know who he was. He was Crow, but son of who? Who’s blood truly ran through his veins? The blood of an alpha…the blood of a mortal wolf who denied the command of the ancestors…the blood of a murderer? He didn’t know, and he needed to.
Without a thought beforehand, Crow sprang forward, bearing his huge left shoulder to his father. He held his head low, and turned the back of his neck toward his target in the even that Lucid’s jaws snapped they would not grab his soft under-throat. He held in his growl, and the snarling snap that yearned to burst forth from his jaws. Crow knew that his father would get out of the way, no matter how fast his reflexes were, Lucid could see them a fraction of a second before Crow carried them out.
His large paws contacted with the cold ground below him, again melting the snow with his inner heat before he could step in it. He held his head low, not wanting to even look at his father. ”Who am I…” Crow would not play his father’s mind games, and he would not let himself fall victim to them like he had before. He wanted an answer to his question, what did this wolf who had fathered him truly think? Who was he, was he really this alpha’s son, or was he merely a pawn in a larger game that he played with the realm? A small growl escaped between his black chops. Crow’s glowing eyes shut tight, blocking the thoughts from his head, only concentrating on the answer he was searching for.
”…WHO AM I!?” [/blockquote]

Lucid could read Crow like an open book, and not just with his thoughts. Crow, trying so hard to keep himself under control, was showing one weakness... his anger toward his own father. Lucid took a deep glee out of this fact, seeing more and more of himself in his son with each passing second, so it was no surprise that Lucid knew he was going to spring toward him when he did.
Lucid simply moved to the side with unnatural speed, turning to face his son once more, even before he had landed on the snowy earth beneath them. Flicking his tails, he chuckled a deep sound that danced around them. "Temper temper, Crow." [/b] He smirked as he said this, sitting calmly before Crow with a smug expression on his face. "Do you really think its me that is going to tell you who you are? You are the son of an Alpha, leadership runs heavy through your veins. What more is there for me to tell you? I cannot tell you who you are... that's something you should discover for yourself."[/b] He laughed slightly to himself as he said this, attempting to play it off as if he were trying to endow some form of knowledge upon his eldest son, though Lucid knew this wasn't the answer Crow was seeking. Did he expect Lucid to come right out and say something specific that would shed some kind of light on the situation? Ha, that wasn't Lucid. "What do you want me to tell you? What do you really want answered?"[/b] He flicked his tails once more, adjusting his large wings on his back in order to allow himself to get more comfortable, though comfort was a thing of the past for him. He didn't need to breath, to show any sign of movement... it was just old habits that were slow to die that caused him to subconsciously make these little gestures.[/blockquote]

He didn’t want to hear any of Lucid’s crap. Crow had had enough. He could feel his temper getting the best of him, but he couldn’t help it. His father was playing mind games, dancing around the truth and the questions that Crow knew he had heard within his mind. Now Crow knew that Lucid was playing mind games with him. Crow knew that he had only been some sick pawn in some larger plan that his father held. It would stop now, he would end it. The future of the realm depended on it- -on him.
But Lucid was correct about one thing. The blood of a leader did flow through his veins. He could feel it now. He was no longer empty inside. He was Crow, a leader, and a lover of his pack and family. He would protect them. He would fight for what he believed in and what was right. This was the blood that ran through his veins, gave him breath and life. But it wasn’t Lucid’s. It wasn’t anyone’s but his own. This loyalty, this courage…this love…it was all his own. He could feel it, he could own it. He had nothing more to discover.
”WHO AM I!” Crow’s eyes flashed with light as heat erupted around him. Snow that lay still on the ground surrounding the two wolves burst violently into steam, thickly fogging the frigid air.
Crow smothered a snarl as he snaked towards his father through the solid fog. Wrenching his shoulder once more to shove against his kin.

Lucid chuckled as Crow grew angrier by the second. Sure he was reading Crow's mind, but it seemed as if his son was too cowardly to ask the question he truly wanted to know out loud.
"As you know, I've been reading your every thought. Are you too afraid to ask the question you truly seek out loud? Too meek to deal with the answer? Or are you going to sound like you did when you were first learning to talk and walk... one phrase stuck in repeat? Honestly, Crow, do you think that if I didn't answer you the first time with the answer you seek, that asking the question over and over again will change my answer? Grow some and say out loud what you really want to say." [/b] He flicked his tails behind him, his voice oozing around them in a sickly fashion as he watched his son and continued to read his thoughts. Lucid chuckled, and watched as Crow attempted to attack him once more. This time, Lucid wouldn't move. He would allow his son to make contact. It wasn't like Crow could cause him any harm. His skin and body was much tougher than ever before now that he was changed into something stronger, something immortal. He was sure that the impact would hardly move him, though he had yet to test out some of these true abilities that were now his. "Aww, is Crow going to take on and challenge daddy now?"[/b] His laugh boomed around them as he watched his son with sharply glowing eyes.[/blockquote] ((Wow, short post... sorry... >.>))

Crow felt his shoulder hit his father’s, and over he went. He snarled down to Lucid, bearing his thick fang’s wickedly through the white smog he had created. Blue pierced violently through the steam as it dissipated. Wings half unfurled, and harks and mane standing on-end, Crow’s squared snout contorted wickedly into a growl. ”Shut up!” He placed a forepaw on the opposite side of his father’s neck so that he stood completely over him. Crow suddenly realized that he was in prime position to attack his father; either in the soft underbelly, or even the side of the neck. With his teeth bared, Crow came to his decision as soon as the thought crossed his mind. He was not a murderer, and no matter what his father had done –Crow’s doubts had grown since Lucid refused to answer the questions he read within his mind- Crow could not kill him. Feeling that Lucid was about to speak again he snapped, ”SHUT UP!”
He growled threateningly by instinct, though he knew Lucid wouldn’t take it seriously. ”I have had enough of your crap. You’ve read the questions in my head, I know you have! The fact that you won’t answer them only to cause me pain by asking them out loud only greatens my doubt!” Crow’s expression softened slightly, his fur which had stood on-end lowered as did his tails and ears. ”…Father…please…” [/blockquote]

Lucid laughed as his son ran into him, laughed as his son knocked him over and contemplated ripping his throat or attacking his underbelly. To tempt his son further, he opened himself up, exposing his neck and his stomach to his son even more. To Lucid, it was no surprise when his changed his mind.
"You don't even have the guts to kill me. You're weak, Crow." [/b] He flicked his tails and slowly got up, turning to face his son, he sat calmly in the same position he was in before. "First, you ask me to speak, then you tell me to shut up... Make up your mind, Crow. Its not polite to tell one to shut up when you wish for them to speak... you'll get nowhere that way."[/b] He chuckled slightly as he watched his son grow angrier and angrier with each passing second. "First you attack me, then you grow weak and beg me? What kind of leadership qualities are those? You expect me to soften up on you just because you start to show a weakness? You expect me to answer questions you have yet to ask. Yes, I know what questions you are looking for answers to, but what does that show if you cannot ask them out loud?"[/b] He flicked his tails behind him as he said this, pondering what he should do about his son... and his newfound weaknesses. "I wonder if Tola would be this weak in front of me? Or would she be standing stronger, holding herself like a leader, instead of like a whimpering whelp?"[/b] He flicked his tails behind him again, looking directly at Crow the entire time he spoke. Lucid stood tall, his position dominating, like the Alpha that he was. He flicked his tails behind him, unfurled his wings briefly before he folded them back to his ribcage. He watched Crow. He wasn't about to answer questions that hadn't been asked, so if his son was seeking answers, then Lucid would make him ask the questions that were weighing upon his mind. Lucid wouldn't lie, since Crow obviously knew something or had heard something somewhere about his escapades. "What has provoked these questions? Surely you didn't come to these ideas on your own."[/b] He flicked his tails, pondering what creature would have known enough about him to be able to tell his own pups of his past. He knew Masina was alive... perhaps she had told them? But that wouldn't make sense... she wouldn't tread anywhere near the mountains. Masina... he needed to take care of her before things got too out of control. She needed to die before she put too much of a stopper in his plans. He should have hunted her and killed her years ago... on that day that he thought she had died... he should have made sure she was dead... well, he wouldn't make that mistake again.[/blockquote]

ehhh, I think you misunderstood a few parts of my last post, but w/e::
”YOU KNOW WHAT HAS PROVOKED THEM!” He gripped the damp grass tightly beneath his claws, as if he might slip away. Crow shook his head in disbelief, fangs bared but mouth curved downward in pain. The violent glow within his eyes faded. This couldn’t be his father…this couldn’t be the same wolf he had loved with all his heart and soul. How could this be the same wolf that he had tried so desperately to be exactly like as a pup, as an adolescent? How could he had ever been so blinded…how could he have ever wanted to be like this… This monster had taken advantage of him. This monster had manipulated the love of a child to use him as a pawn. Crow took a single step back, though he felt no shock. He had known all along. The nervousness as a pup he had felt towards his own father…the fear of disappointment as an adolescent… Crow had known all along. But he had refused to believe it. This wolf was had fathered him, had made love to his mother to create him. A snarl burst from Crow’s chops. Now he could believe. Lucid was not his father.
His head rose up, taller than Lucid’s. Ears, tail, and fur erect, Crow’s posture was bearing down upon his enemy’s. Glowing blue eyes looked down into the glowing yellow ones. His voice was thick with anger, but heavier with the authority that he had mentally bestowed himself. ”Why does our family have no kin, Lucid? Mother once spoke of her own parents, told her pups stories of them. Why not you Lucid? How are grandmother and grandfather doing, Lucid?” His jaws snapped threateningly, too impatient to await a reply. ”Say it. I’m sick of your games. Say it. Say that you’ve killed them, your own flesh and blood, your own mother and father. SAY IT!” [/blockquote]

((There was music playing, that's probably why... I got distracted and couldn't concentrate.. Sorry.)) Lucid grinned at his son as he finally made his requests and questions known out loud. He flicked his tails behind him as he sat and calmly looked at his son. No shred of remorse for what he had said shone within his face.
"Yes, I killed them. They were weak. Unfitting to lead a pack. I had asked my father to step down, but he refused, so I challenged him. And obviously, he lost." [/b] He stated this simply and calmly. He flicked his tails and shrugged off the thought. "And I do have kin... One of which used to be in the pack that you call home, but she died, natural causes, mind you. The other kin of mine can be found within these very lands... your aunt, my sister. I didn't kill them all, I did what was best for the pack. My parents were getting too old to run the pack, so I relieved them of their positions, simple as that. I made way for a new light to be shed on strength within a pack, not compassion. Compassion is weakness."[/b] He flicked his tails behind him, his voice retaining its smooth and silky tone as he shrugged off his own words as if they were no big deal. "I've killed others too, perhaps you don't know of those? My goal was to build a strong pack, and those who opposed me died through their weaknesses. Survival of the fittest."[/b] He flicked his tails once more as he finished his words, staring directly into his sons eyes. He was amused at the fact that Crow was trying to over dominate him by standing taller. Perhaps Lucid needed to teach his son a lesson.[/blockquote]

Crow knew the words were coming, but that didn’t lessen their sting. They pinched at his mind, twisting and tormenting it; but it wasn’t the words alone. Lucid’s voice, dripping with his sarcasm…reeking of his blatant disregard of mortal life. It made him want to vomit. Crow didn’t care if this wolf would read his mind, or see his emotions. He wore his disgust wide upon his face. He felt his limbs shake, but it was only his overwhelmed mind playing tricks on his emotions. Long limbs stood strong beneath him, claws digging deep gouges into the damp earth beneath them. Power. Was that really what everything had been about? There was no wellness of the pack, no devotion for family. Crow could see it in his eyes, no…he could feel it.
Snorting a plume of steam from his wet nostrils, he smothered a growl. ”Would you kill me?” His voice was slow and heavy.
Crow counted his heartbeats to keep the anger from exploding from his chest. How could he had been fathered and raised by such a sadistic monster? He was a good person, a decent being. The pack-the family was first in his mind, and he had always kept that mindset. But looking back, Crow couldn’t remember where he had learned it from. His father was nothing more than a power-hungry brute, and his mother did nothing but swoon and fall to his whims. Perhaps it was bred into him. Loyalty, devotion, love. It had to have come from genetic gene deep within him. Crow yearned to know his grandfather. [/blockquote]

Lucid chuckled as he watched his sons face. Weakness... his son was showing weakness, when he had originally shown so much potential. It would be a pity to have to end him, to keep him from standing in his way. He could have seen such power and strength coming from his kin, his children... but Haven had left, and now Crow seemed to be faltering as well. That only left his daughter, Tola. Not the one he had been hoping for, but his only choice left for children of his to help him run his new plans as a Beta. He wouldn't give them Alpha, no, only because he and Mira would reign as Alphas for the rest of forever with their newfound immortality.
He flicked his tails idly as he watched the disgust and shaking that his son had fallen into. He read his mind and cocked his head to the side as he looked with mild intrigue at his son. "Would I kill you... You have so much potential. You're strong, powerful... and a good leader, but would I kill you?" [/b] He paused for a moment to add effect, his voice sounding as if he were really considering whether or not he would kill him, when he really had his answer in his mind already. "Yes. I probably would kill you if you opposed me or stood in my way. You can join my escapade and be beta for all of Aelyn, or you can die. Simple as that. Strength and Power are two very great things that these lands lack, and they needed someone to show them what true strength and power is, think of it... the Mitsuteriasu Mountains Pack, strongest pack in Aelyn, uniting all the other packs under one rule... that's the way it should be. United, strong, powerful."[/b] He flicked his tails idly. He wouldn't really want to kill his son, he was powerful and showed great potential for his plans, but he would do whatever he needed to keep his plans in motion. Lucid chuckled at Crow, reading his thoughts like an open book. "Aww, little lost puppy wants his grand pappy? How sickening... the weak going for the weaker. You know, I can send you to see him if you really want that wish to come true. I can pave the path for you to go see dear old grandfather."[/b] He chuckled again as he continued to sit calmly, his voice silky and smooth, drifting around them like a deadly poison. Lucid flicked his tails and kept his glowing eyes locked on his son.[/blockquote]

…it didn’t feel like it should…
Crow’s alpha, no…his own father had just said that if he saw the need, he would kill his own son, just like that. But it didn’t feel like it should. Crow expected himself to be crushed, to feel his legs shake and his body fall to the wet ground in shame, terror and pure sorrow…but he didn’t feel that. He felt nothing, as if the sick words didn’t phase him at all. And he didn’t ponder why; Crow knew why he felt absolutely nothing. It was because he had always known that. Long before those words had ever been spoken, he had heard them in every single thing Lucid had ever told him. He could feel them in every single thing Lucid had ever done or not done to him. …would I kill you…yes…I would… Those words, he had heard every single day of his sad life. It was all obvious now, everything was clear to him. He had never wanted to impress his father, he had never wanted to make his father proud of him as a young pup. All his childhood, the only thing Crow had strived for…it wasn’t acceptance…it wasn’t love…it was survival, because deep down, he knew that if he didn’t please his own father, didn’t live up to his own father’s expectations of strength and power…he would be killed.
Crow’s glowing blue eyes never left Lucid’s. He walked slowly, his large steps powerful and steady. He watched the light within his father’s eyes as he walked towards him. No longer did any thoughts clash within his mind, no longer did painful emotions linger, and no longer did he feel the need to prove himself, or more accurately, keep himself worthy in Lucid’s eyes. His thoughts were clear, his mind was strong, and his soul was on fire.
”I’m tired of being what you want me to be.”
[/color] His voice, as powerful as it was, was void of all emotions. Crow had never felt this way before, he had no way to describe it. He didn’t feel anger, he had felt that, smothered beneath his other emotions for too long. He felt so…numb… ”I’m NOT going to cower at your feet anymore. No longer do I care about myself, but you are a danger to my pack, you are a threat to my family.” Crow halted his advance when he was nose-to-nose with Lucid. ”Keep the freelands, Lucid, because you can consider them home.”What Crow did next, he surprised even himself. Quicker than a heartbeat, his fangs released themselves from his maw and he struck out to his father. Crow wasn’t sure what he was doing, he hadn’t planned anything like this. The only thoughts that ran through his mind were that this male was an endangerment to his pack, to his family.
